  1. hey jaskel u sleep so little ah... haha... quite fun to see the contractor updating status!
  2. if you are from open net, would you entertain such a request? if just 10% of the population call to request for such things, opennet would go crazy! just wait for them to come lor, whats the hurry? it will be a white elephant for some time before something constructive comes thru that small box anyway
  3. yeah, very unique...haha and easy to do. i think its for the trill only, cannot hang too many shoes. Baby has tons of shoes..!
  4. change lock cheaper mah afterall, no one will tear down your door just to rob you. haha... think one of the shots got your face...
  5. oh no...i thought as long as the wall is not a beam means can hack..? mmmm anyway, we went to mega discount store, couldn't find your $399 washer le... though it was advertised..
  6. i am also very anxious....but have to wait till mid june to see daylight...haii.. huh...y jealous? u can still change to stainless steel right...ur carpentry haven't start? yeah, when i told my wife what i did, she gave me a "you are so lame" look. now everything is slowed down. Air con installation on 22nd May Faith Coat spraying on 31 May (now then i know they need 4 days...i thought they will be done in like 1 day!)
  7. yes, definitely.. and more cleaning too? haha... but more space gives u more flexibility in arrangement of furniture and choice of furniture. my tiny 3 room so small, if i see a furniture i like, first thing i see is the size...then think for 10mins whether can fit anot...haha
  8. exclude all hardware and switches? means the above is for labour cost only? if so, may look expensive wor...
  9. fridge base and washer base depends on individual, not a necessity if you dun flood ur kitchen...who does anyway..? better not to build one, nowadays electronic products dun last, it may restrict your future purchase of a fridge or washer, especially as time goes by, family may require a bigger washer or fridge then u would have a problem...
  10. ikea stuff are modular, so cannot expect to fill up the kitchen space 100% unless u diy can amend the cabinets. But would it void the warranty? have to ask the staff... as pointed out by forumers in their t-blogs, ikea's acrylic is more expensive than corian, which is tried and tested whereas ikea one not so many people use. many hdb walls are not straight and not level, so using ikea would mean your cabinets have to slant accordingly, if not it would appear "slant"... soft close for ikea not cheap also, if budget is a concern, can check out other brands. But as my carpenter say, no need to use blum 1, use no-brand ones will be good enough. 1 blum runner for drawer costs $60, no-brand ones costs half the price. I would take a gamble to use no-brand ones first, it may turn out to be a pleasant surprise you know... afterall, blum have lifetime warranty. But cabinets would die in 10 years or so i think, so whats the point? Of course, if money is not the issue, then go ahead and BLUM! for new flats, can try ikea if everything is level and straight. Mine is a 30year old resale, and walls, floor and cabinet base all slant like crazy. Plus turns out that contractor's price is cheaper than IKEA!
  11. ohh looks too close for comfort....ceiling fan takes a while to stop spinning, your hubby so patient to wait for it to stop before accessing the wardrobe? so i tink i agree with you more, should shift..haaha but the light should shift as well to align it?
  12. *thumbs up* kitchen and wardrobes coming up next?
  13. miscomm error? is it because your instructions not clear or ID's ears are blocked? if instructions are clear, then its the receipent who either remembers it wrongly or simply anyhow do. I would consider speaking to sub con as a last resort if i am in a very big rush for time and that ID has repeatedly screw up. Speaking to sub con equates to spoiling your ID, he should be more than capable of coordinating and passing on instructions as this is his rice bowl. i do agree with fencer that customer can and have the right to choose. We signed up the contract with ID, when things go wrong of course we look for ID. Legal, logical and practical. Rightfully the sub con do not even have to listen to us, he has no contract with us, he just needs to be accountable to his customer, i.e. the ID. ID never say anything = ok, smile and collect $ can already.
  14. Hob area. The exposed wood..think i should apply some varnish to be kiasu. before you guys start to think that they are the "king of carpenters", some parts of the cupboard not very well done though, like this Basically some laminates are not glued close enough so there is the ugly line which is obvious at some places but not at others. Could be due to difference in skill level, one worker was more experieced than the other, which is a possible reason...To feedback to uncle and let him know.... Another touch up needed is the tall cabinet door. It cannot be closed properly on the top, hope uncle can made swee swee for us..
  15. A removable cover made for the floor trap. Looks quite cute actually... Holes in the laminates that needs to be filled up to prevent cockroaches or bugs from creating a nice home for themselves: Cover ups for the pipes. I like!
  16. Finally everything is done. Protective sticker still intact, intend to keep it there first. The main use of the full height cabinet. Can fit in my small ladder, the paint is there to mimick pails that we going to get in future. Did as many drawers as we could, think should be sufficient as we are not hoarders. This is where we will place the microwave, rice cooker, kettle, etc. We plan to keep the countertop clear of everything, so must take extra effort in putting it back after use everytime. We definitely need to get used to it.
  17. speaking to subcons to speed up work would imply ID is inefficient in passing instructions or not doing a good job already. We had a bad paint job experience. Our main con brought his painter along and we refused to talk to the painter.. Simple reason, we engaged Main con, if sub con screw up, its the main con problem. All our complaints are directed to the main con. Subsequently, all defects are rectified. Faster by talking to sub con? then your ID or main con would have failed in his coordination.
  18. hey guys, look! i just DIY-ed my pallet shoe rack...haha...by putting my shoes on it. ok this is a little too tall, i gotta remeasure the height to fit it below the window...
  19. if its me, i will want to hold the balance as well. Wouldn't you if things have gotten to such a ugly stage? If they are still on good terms, can consider lah...but now? Balance for windows should be quite little, probably lower than the cost of issuing a lawyer letter... At this stage, everyone wants to protect their own interest...be it henry or fencer.
  20. i would say he is very irresponsible to say that. U engaged him to coordinate, but u still need to liaise with the respective bosses? How can it be? Coordinating is HIS job. The whole purpose of hiring an ID is to coordinate for you so that we only talk to 1 person. Its quite sad that things have to get to such a stage, take care man...
  21. i was charged $15 per sq ft for casement windows (before gst). ossify's t-blog also has some indicative prices. You could use it as a guide as well.
  22. any pics to show? so many ppl ask for his contacts but no one willing to put his work up for all to see
  23. hmm...if its a up down system, might as well use the bamboo stick with hangers on the ceiling. i don't see the diff leh... the push out system makes more sense, actually. If one is not strong enough to hold the bamboo stick that is... but hey, this is the time for guys to come out and "be the man".
  24. quick question...how to choose solar film? naked eye can't tell how good it is...fixed up then will know, by then its too late...
  25. just realised you gonna coordinate urself!
