  1. Seriously... tink its better to invest in a good aircon unit cos you may only be wasting your money if otherwise. Since its a long term investment, invest in good ones such as Daikin Inverter unit.
  2. Since this is a long term investment which most of us will not be changing from time to time, its better to go for teh more established brands such as Daikin and Mitsu Elec. In terms of performace, both are comparable but Daikin is more quite as compared to Mitsu Elec. As such, its a better buy. Think you should invest in better ones to avoid future dissapointments.
  3. You can rid the smells by using charcoals. Alternatively, you can also place chopped onion (disect onion into half) in water (partial submerge) in a small container such as those used for KFC whipped potato (small). But do remember to rid the onions within the next 2 days. If not, the smell will be worse than the newly renovated smell.
  4. I've gotten my Mitsubishi Electric Invertor aircon @$2,400 for a 24K BTU model & $2,650 for 2 x 10K BTU model. It performs relatively well as expected of Mitsubishi Electric but reckon that it will be better if its a tad quiter. Realised that the Daikin models are far more quite than the Mitsu and performs just as well.
  5. Go for tinted glass if you want to enjoy the view cos you can't see a thing with frosted glass.
  6. My advice is to go with an ID as we are no jack of all trade. We are already swamped with daily work and reno can be really stressful. Leave it to the experts to handle it. Nonetheless, its good to spend some effort looking for good and responsible ID.
  7. Guess the better material used would be crystal... which is more costly than glass without any green tint
  8. Can check out Ikea for the curtains. Fairly nice and affordable. Just have to be careful with the length of the curtain cos it may be a tad short for some designs
  9. If stocks are low and you want to secure it, you may get it before the reno. Just have to ensure that the vendor can help to store the stocks. Also, for items such as sofa, the vendor may not have existing stock and would require the factory to produce them which will take about 1+ months or so. Thus, its always good to recce for items before hand and collect their measurements for the ID to work on. Items such as bed frame, sofa, fridge, washer, dryer, TV, Home theater system, DVD player, would need to be recce beforehand so that you can work in their dimensions during reno. Other items such as aircon, lightings, etc can be recce during reno stage
  10. I would certainly go for a LED over a Plasma after my colleagues shared that after excessively watching a particular channel, there will be burnt marks in the same spot. Meaning if you watch channel 5 all these while, a channel 5 burnt marks/shadows will appear on the top right hand corner of the plasma tv.
  11. Thanks all... I've purchased a sys-2 ME and sys-1 ME inverter units. So far so good.... Nice and quite. But meanwhile, can anyone recommend me a reliable and good aircon servicing comany? Tks all again.
  12. Guess there are a few issues here...1) Aircon, 2) Installer. Its best to get a more reliable aircon brand like Daikin or ME to enjoy peace of mind. They are by far the most recommended brands among my friends and colleagues. With regards to the installer, isn't it undertaken by the respective brand's installer? If not, then it's best to buy from places like Best instead. But then again, the cost will be higher than normal neighbournood estates.

  14. Do check out Teka. Great performance with nice design. Get an interior designer to purchase at 15-20% off.
  15. It really depends on the content. I've got both mio TV and StarHub cos only mio TV is screening the BPL so no choice. For more programme content, I would think StarHub still tops the chart. But then again, with fiber Broadband and cloud making inroads, you may just wanna stream the content online instead of subscribing to mio or StarHub. Then again, you would still need a reliable Internet service provider for this and I think SingTel would have a edge over StarHub
  16. A Bosch or Electrolux would serve you well. These are the more reliable brands in the market. And preferably front load too.
  17. Guess the price says it all. Yes, Daikin is one of the most reliable aircon brands in the market. That's why it qualify for a premium price. Other than Mitsu Heavy Ind, you may wanna check out Mitsu Electric Starmex. Cheaper than Daikin with great performance too. With the inverter, you will save more in the long run. Also, its nicer looking compared to Mitsu Heavy Ind. But if you have the budget to spend, you will not regret getting yourself a Daikin
  18. That's right. But instead of extending the warranty, you may wanna find a reliable aircon servicing company to service your aircon every quarterly. Get a Daikin or MItsubishi Electric aircon to enjoy peace of mind. Reliable and great performance comes standard.
  19. It's a tough one to compare 2 of the most reliable aircon brands in the market. While my folks are using Daikin, I'm using Mitsubishi Electric. But whichever one you are going for, remember to go for the inverter. Will save you more in the long run. But heard that servicing would be more costly than non-inverter as the parts are more expensive.
  20. Those are some common compliants that my friends had as well. If you intend to switch the aircon, do remember to check out Daikin and Mitsubishi Electric. Reliable, great performance and relatively quite.
  21. Yup, you can definitely save more if you are buying most of your household appliances from the neighbourhood stores. Stuffs like fridges, washing machine and dryer, and even aircon units can be purchase there at lower prices. Think you can save up to a grand with negotiations, and if you are buying a handful of items. The trick is to buy in bulk and not single piece. Like I've purchased my fridge, washer, dryer and aircon units from them. Managed to save up quite a fair bit.
  22. Thumbs up for Daikin aircon and Mitsubishi Electric aircon units. More reliable than other brands in the market. I got a system 2 and system 1 Mitsubishi Aircon units for about $5K.
  23. Try Electronin at Bedok or any electrical and appliances shops in the HDB. Their prices are usually cheaper than Best & Courts. Bought a few items from them, including mitsubishi electric system 2 & 1 aircons, Bosch Washer and Dryer, Panasonic Fridge, etc.
  24. Check out Teka. The interior designers will be able to purchase at 15-20% off.
  25. Can try Zion movers. Fast, efficient, on-time, and careful when handling your furniture pieces. They provide cartons and wrap too.
