The quotes I got from various contractors range from 2K to 2.8K.. That is for my whole hse (118 sqm) - all walls n ceilings.

Designing the Kitchen Cabinet "Vibrant", "Simple" & "High-Gloss" are the characteristics we want for our 44-ft kitchen cabinet. I proposed the Apple Green color while the 'alternate color scheme' is WTB's idea. Initially I was concerned on how the 'alternate color scheme' would turn out.. but glad we went for it in the end. It is something different from the usual 'bottom cabinets-color A; top cabinets-color B' design. And to give a color contrast to the white, green cabinets, WTB chose a black solid-surface table top. Frosted Glass for cabinet doors below sink WTB was worried that laminated wooden doors will be damaged by water over time, which had happened in her parents' place. Our contractor wasn't so keen on our idea, citing things placed inside the cabinet would be visible and hence gave a messy look.. as frosted glass is translucent. We decided to go for it anyway. At most, use a white sheet of paper to cover the frosted glass from inside ## Our contractor came out with the drawing, and we simply fill in the colors. No 3D modelling, just a simple hand-drawn pict Slide-out cabinet WTB was pretty excited to want one drawer installed with the slide-out stainless steel rack (as shown in below pic but twice as tall). But after considering the added costs (+$700), and high chance of the sliding mechanism going to get spoilt due to constant load weighing on the sliders.. we decided to abort the idea in the end.

Hiya Creamie, I've forgotten the psf.. My contractor quoted us $3850 for laminating the living, dining halls, store-rm and the 3 bedrooms. Perhaps u can do a rough est. of the area from the floorplan. He said that Vista is good of course, since he only let us choose btw 2 suppliers (the other one is Power Dekor) I can't really comment on the durability as I only just got it installed. Workmanship seems okay.

yep, it seems the condition is still very good and design not too bad too. I would also keep it if I were you

Tiling & Installation of Plasterboards (week 1) After the demolition, came the tiling of kitchen floor tiles and installing plasterboards which took 2 days to complete. ## I was shocked to see the washer machine base was constructed in the wrong location! I actually wanted it more to the right, just beside the toilet door.. as I was concerned having it too on the left will make the cooking/laundry space too confined.. In the end, I decided to just make-do since rest of the floor tiles are already laid. But on 2nd thots, the current location wasn't too bad either - at least the water discharge pipe & wall hole (original state) will be blocked from view by the washing machine. ## Thanksfully, our contractor advised us to look to town council to change the kitchen main pipe, in which part of the cost can be subsidised. 2 contractors we spoke to earlier actually wanted to charge us $600-800 for changing the pipe when the town council appointed plumber only charged us $200! ## The old aircon casement window and the uneven wall surface @ MBR is now gone! ## Also installed platerboard behind main door.. to block the old window grills in which its window was already blocked out from outside by HDB

Hey Sharon, Shihan here. Just dropping by to say 'hi'! Seen the after reno pics.. Nicely done-up! Seems we all like white, high gloss furniture. And I like your WIW - the curtains add a special feel to it.

## hacked away the wardrobes in the 2 rooms. We did consider keeping them and change its laminate.. but the costs is not much lower compared to re-doing new ones! ## hacked the built-in study desk cum cabinet, as it was in a pretty bad condition We asked the contractor not to throw away the old sink, and hacked partition metal frames.. which we later sold to karang guni for over $20. Managed to sell 2 old lamps left behind by ex-owner via RT too. Intend to re-lay laminated flooring over the parquet flooring in all 3 rooms. Some relatives & friends felt it was a great waste.. Actually it was abit painful for me to make that decision too, as parquet is 'good stuff'.. But the design is too old-school, and no guarantee re-polishing can make it to the faint color we want.. Ex-Owners Fengshui colors you may have noticed the ex-owners had the walls of the 3 rooms painted in different vibrant colors. I later found out the color scheme is actually adhering to Fengshui (based on 8 sectors theory). The same goes to the erections of partions in living hall and kitchen. Quite surprised to learn of that fact as the ex-owner is a devoted Christian.

Hacking (week 1) Took 2 days for the demolition works. Was pleasantly surprised the original kitchen wall tiles are still in very good condition, and thus we stick to the plan of keeping them. ## removed the old laminated flooring ## keeping the raised platform in living hall. In 'de-skinned' condition. ## removed the damaged mirror at dining area ## hacked the kitchen cabinets, concrete sink support, partition and laminated flooring

Same here !! Our hse ex-owner has the rock stone effect for the whole hse, including all ceilings. Me and WTB can't stand it, esp me No choice, had to spend extra $ to plaster the whole house..

I like your "Toilet 3" tiles!

Mine is also Legrand. Malia series. MK switches look nice too.. but I dun fancy its loud 'click' sound when pressed.
-
Hey potatoes, you can get the switches, sockets at wholesale prices in Choo Chiang. Joyous, I like these kind of big-gang switches too. Changed all the old type switches to this type for my hse.

icic.. yalor, bound to have some hiccups somehow. For my case, the fabric for our sofa is out of stocks and we had to make another trip down to choose another fabric . Delivery was pushed out a wk. Hopefully no more problems and also for other furniture! -
Hahaha.. yalor, one more item to maintain and clean. And we're keeping the balcony tiles. We like it alot too. Intend to keep some plants, and probably throw-in some simple furniture to match the rustic feel.
