not only adds to the feel wor... adds alot to the scent of Xmas! hehe but must check if family members allergic to the smell....go to those far east flora and *test-smell* first..hehe and the pine needles will drop naturally so must clear them. and also the scent will attract more tree loving insects to your home.....but good thing is no need air fresheners..hehe every year can change trees

Bluberi: Yup, it's not cheap. But it's aluminium and light yet wont topple easy.. we stood around and watch the demonstration for quite a long time before deciding that we shd get it to replace the shaky old one whose crome is already peeling off. Good thing is: spare parts are easily available if spoilt and they come pretty cheap! Yup, christmas is no longer tagged to religion, more like giving myself an excuse to get a tree, and exchange gifts and make merry.

thanks LouiseBrown. Good that you will also be getting the Corian top Actually, one really has to weighs the pros and cons of each material and match it to one's own expectation, budget, style and the kind of home/ambience that you wanna create in your living space. There is not only science to it when deciding to choose materials. The science are the facts/specifications of each material. How you choose and decide what material to use in order to blend into your decor into a common theme for your whole project, is an art already that's why most of us choose IDs to help us blend science and art together...hehe... but then again...some IDs have neither both..or abit here and there and hand over a messed up job....hehe

ever since the Xmas tree was up, Mr compassvale has been humming... SILENT NIGHT...HOLY NIGHT......now and then anyway, we went AMK hub shopping and bought something !! can reduce the footprint of the stand while keeping the hanging rods length constant , bottom racks also can hang pants, tshirts got patent somemore, no wonder not cheap...about 100plus... but light cos made of aluminium !! this is the *old* one..hehe

hi phoenix, nope, not Cresto, it's the Corian badge Both Cresto and Corian are from DuPont. Think it's just Corian's way of making you feel better that u are paying about the same or more than a piece of beautiful natural stone when you are only paying for man-made PLASTIC. Seriously if our cabinets were lighter-based laminates, we would probably make do with the seamlines of granite since we would get black/dark colour granite top and the seams would not be too obvious. But well, we like our laminates dark wood colour mah, so we prefer to match to light coloured tops !! Easy to get polishing creams ~ JIF or those kind of household abrasive cleaners will clear up most light scratches/stains combined with scotch brite pads....if your scratches are deeper, then either u need them to come and renew your surface or u can DIY if u have the right tools, like those rotary buffers/polishers for cars...hehe

actually all options got pros and cons... like Mace's plain wood top, easy and cheaper to replace if anything goes wrong...not so heart pain. strong and beautiful granite, limited range of colours/grains. not to mention a visible seam inbetween pieces if the surface is very long....very very few light base colour if u are thinking of a white/biege coloured countertop....need to be very conscientious in wiping after cooking, washing. Water-etching happens and very very difficult to remove. Once it happens, u need something with Rockwell/Vickers hardness higher than granite (diamond polishing pads) to grind the surface and the renewal of the surface is not very easy for us laymen to DIY those who want white/biege countertops can opt for marble, but then again, will turn yellow and same thing with water etching and staining of the surface. solid surfaces, alot of colours/grains to choose from...no visible seams at joints... but scratches easily....far too easily.. good thing, no problems with water etching/stains.....even when it does happen....much easier surface renewal with polishing creams/light abrasive pads...can have a surface looking brand new again after polishing easily. anyway, we went for solid surface top as our cabinets were dark and we did not want to go for a dark countertop as well. with white/biege based in mind, solid surface top seems a better choice for us than marble. nonetheless, we used solid surface for the countertop, marble for our dining table top and indian galaxy granite for our toilet sinktops...hehe

Angelwrath:- BIG ribbon not i tie one.. hahah.. i bot from concourse the ribbons, the lady there tie for me as part of the service... Didnt know you looking for christmas deco... we were at robinson, and the decos there pretty nice! also abt $10-$12 for 6 balls (medium ones) but still got 20% discount. Hi Diva79 - ya, think we ar ethe ones who die die wont top up too much kind. We had so many dress changes that I cannot remember how many.. and out of 3 places we went for photoshoot, we only chose 2 in the end.... it was tough remaining rational in front of those pretty pics, but it was tougher trying to ignore the constant rantings of the lady boss, who kept trying to ask us to top up more! Hi Bluberri: think of it positively:- you now have a big collection of pictures full of good memories.. next time go your house must show us the albums oki?

Best Hotels To Hold Wedding Banquet? Reasons Pls!
compassvale replied to cookie's topic in Wedding & Travel
lareiney, we had ours at Four Seasons. An ideal choice for us because: some hotels (eg. Marriot/Fullerton/Ritz) need alot of tables as min for weekends....four seasons main ballroom is not as big and thus min tables is lesser and within our expectations only 2 ballrooms....less chances for guests going to the wrong wedding...fortunately ours was the only dinner that night as no one took the other Crescent ballroom (15 tables max)...so the only wedding that night was ours... no pillars....simple but elegant ballroom..... foodwise and service....let's put it this way...all hotels have their shares of complaints...we just felt that Four Seasons has lesser bits of complaints going around... day itself went without a hitch...basically u can leave everything to them and they will run the whole night beautifully for you. can see some pics of our setup here http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?sh...9121&st=190 -
wow bluberri:- that's a lot of money, can make a few more items in reno alr...... we opted for fuss free all in one studio (1MTM gown only+2 off the shelves) + 28 pics for $3388.. In the end top up additional 5-6 pics for 300+. We top up only for one reason: we needed at least 30+ pics to make magazine album. HB n I are both very firm that we will not spend too much on fotos, coz we feel it's wasted when we keep in cupboard after wedding. We rather take money spend on things like creating a reserve to absorb the hotel dinner losses, top up at hotel, holidays and reno. But then again, it's a matter of personal preferences and priorties. So whenever you pull out these pretty pics to admire, u will remeber that all's worth it...
