acrylic is the material that solid top is made of

generic term being solid surface, corian is a brand of it (by dupont if i'm not wrong)

the higher end brands are made of 100% acrylic whereas some are not

difference between brands are the durability, warranty and hardiness

acrylic is the name of type of material... there are many brands for this material, the most expensive is Corian and it is 100% acrylic... the cheaper brands like Cresto is a mixture of acrylic and ester, and is less durable than the 100% acrylic type...

Hi redbottle

May I check with U on the cost again??

Is the quote of S$140 per foot the price of the Corian solid top only, without the cabinet??

That means the cabinet is separate charge?

My contractor charge me S$100 per foot for lower cabinet.

And also S$130 for the Corian solid top per foot run.

Is this what U mean, separate cost for cabinet and Corian top?

Cheers.

it was from an ID...

hi frenz, for yr info, to differentiate between genuine Corian or LG solid surface kitchen top with other cheaper kitchen worktop is that Corian/ LG solid surface kitchen worktop comes with a certificate verifying it's genuinity & warranty

Redbottle - Thanks a million. Now I have more confidence in my contractor-to-be's quotation.

xXTReMEXx - Thanks a lot for this info too. Now I know I gonna ask for certificate and warranty.

Cheers.

wah corian comes with a cert? none of the IDs/contractors mentioned this before. thanks! now i know.

i can't decide between using a corian / granite top. i understand from ids that corian scratches more easily..is it true? while granite is more lasting. but granite will not come in 1 pc and upon looking closing, u can see the 'joint' lines, whereas corian does.
