Firstly, how do we invest in IPOs? I see that we can apply thro POSB atms, but how? How do we know what IPOs are coming up? Thanks you money masters!

Married for 3 years 2 months. PR Wife admitted to adultery. Am I still liable for her livelihood after divorce? Thanks for all the help. We have decided on going to Phuket Karon beach instead at a reasonable priced resort. Took advantage of the 4c ticket by Tiger and plus its low season in phuket. So accomodation plus air flight is less than 600 for the two of us 4D3N. Not too bad I think. Will let you know how was the weather when I get back. Cheers!

why dont they just earn extra percentages if they manage to sell the flat above valuation, if they manage to close at valuation then just get maybe 1k? For example value of flat is at 300k sell at 330k then he earns 1k + 5% of 30000 = 2500k so he would be motivated to close at higher for seller. I agree buyers shouldnt pay anything to the selling agent unless you hire an agent to look around for you. Then you negotiate on an ang pow. In fact the selling agent should pay an ang pow also for bringing a buyer to him.

Another way is to get a design, then approach the ID firm to do it. You will then have to pay a coordinator fee I guess. I did up my own design, approach the ID firm and we went thro the different materials and methods to be able to do it. The ID was so taken by the design, she wanted to be a part of the project.

35G is quite a lot for a 3rm flat. I overhauled mine also, did my own design somemore and kept it under 25. But I guess you have finer finishings. The white kitchen can be done. The dream one is a toughie as space is limited. An island in a 3rm has been done before but the space was so packed, it lacked breathing space. Good luck

I think you approach a free lance designer because you like his designs? I am a free lance designer. No the deal doesnt end when I hand over the design. You still can rectify it and I would comply but its true i wont handle the coordination. You still can use the design and hire a pte contractor to do it. I do admit the cost is slightly more, but thats the price you pay if you want a unique house. ID firms do charge a design fee sometimes, its all in the final quote, but they wont show it as a fee.

I think they wont cos they are afraid of defaulting payments and unlike houses or equipment you cant take them back can you? Its more that they will go thro a bank and let the bank offer you interest free installment, but I doubt so after this sub prime crisis. Its a huge amount of money.

Hi Firstly, congrats on your moving in. I remember how exciting it was to move in to my first unit. Well, regarding my point of having too many downlights, I think you made a rather good point for me, though unintentionally. We dont need that many down lights. We are just paying more to the electrician for installation not to mention the light casings. And it seems that you have a total of 26 PLC's base on your description but with 39 bulbs! My advice to new home owners is that, we dont need that many of them. Save some cost, the less you have, the more you save.

Well that is if you decide to sell it I guess. Unless you downgrade or move to a less central place, you wont really profit from a sale no?

Nei mwerkz.. I know which ones you are talking about.. I call those spotlights. Those I never even turn on once after I checked them. Those are a complete waste of money unless you showcase your art work which I feel that might cause a light spot if you shine it constantly at one spot. It might even burn a hole. The ones that I am using are PLC 13W lights, I can feel the heat generating from them. But its quite interesting to see how the poll is going.

To me, when I turn on the down lights, I start to sweat. I have 2 at my dining. I turned it on during my house warming and everyone started to feel warm, I turned it off and everything was better. But it did good at keeping the food warm. Just to be sure, my defination of a down lights are those you find in false ceilings.

Hi I was once like most of the new flat owners, going gaga over 3D pictures and mouth open at how my flat can look like a showflat under those lights in the magazines. But I do not live in a showflat and I dont wish to die of heat stroke under all those down lights. So here is a poll to advise new owners not to go crazy over down lights cos I think we rarely use them. Its just too hot and impratical I feel.

I thought I could buy a new 4 to 5 room HDB flat and just live there till I die, but now I think I should die first, get insurance money then let my family buy. 270k for a 3 room flat in Queenstown. Really ah! Resale price that high over there? That amount is the same price for a 5 rm in Jurong leh, near yung ching. What is going on man singapore. When did it become so out of common people's reach? Just a few months ago, saw a bukit batok 5 rm HDB re-released flat going for 265k, was so happy. Now I think I go peddle me arse in geylang. It is a bit high but you forgot your fridge. Thats a power sucker, and also your hot pot. Anything that is 24 hours sucks like a vampire, washing machine is also a killer. Next time when you do your laundry, go watch your electric meter, see how fast the meter spins! I did notice too that an LCD tv kinda sucks more power than a conventional CRT type, I maybe wrong. Anyone expert on this? For me, I have a habit of turning of all switches except for fridge when I leave. It's just my wife and I, the lowest I ever managed was 70. Highest was 140. Avg about 95. I dont know how I managed to do a 70, so I thought I better monitor the meter my self. Just in case PUB over estimates again.
