  1. For the budget issue, you need to manage your own expectations. You just need to know what you can and cannot live without. I would say that the final end product will be very much dependent on your furnishing as well, so do plan for the things that are not covered by the renovations.
  2. Just got mine from a neighborhood store. New promotion for this TV is the same. Voucher, HTS or Starhub HD TV Set top box + subscription. Price is definitely lower than in PC show.
  3. I think these 2 weeks are quite bad for him because he mentioned he has a few units to hand over. I suggest that you give him abit more time if you're not in a hurry as he puts existing projects/customers as a priority. From my experience, once you signed up as a customer, he will definitely get back to you. As far as I'm concerned, communications has been great as I've been informed about progress and problems that arises promptly. I'm not in a position to comment fully yet as my renovations are still ongoing but things are looking pretty good at the moment. I'll give a full review in a few weeks
  4. Correct. I bought my dining chairs from them. On the invoice, it says "Lush by Luxor Home Pte Ltd"
  5. Hi all, With the advent of technology, the lines between IT and home entertainment isn't that clear anymore. I was thinking if it would be possible to perhaps link up the phone/PC/TV etc. For example, you can record TV programs and then store it into your home server via the wireless network. Has anyone done something along this line and not burnt a huge hole in the wallet? Any ideas to share? !!
  6. Would appreciate a PM too on where you got that!

    Drill Wall

A more 'troublesome' but quieter way is to use an unwanted cloth. 1) Wet cloth and squeeze it dry so that it is slightly moist 2) Positioning the drill bit properly 3) Get someone else to wrap moist cloth AROUND drill bit on the wall. Ensure that there is some space between cloth and drill bit else you'll be in trouble when you drill. 4) Proceed with drilling. Debris and cement will be gathered on the moist cloth. Once there is too much for the cloth to handle, rinse and repeat step 1-4
  8. I'm looking out for dining chairs. Time to plow the weekend newspaper. I think GSS news will be popping up. Those who need to buy PC or Computer items can look out for the PC Show next week.
  9. Well, maybe you can spend more on one toilet and less on another. And then factor in the amount of time you spend at home and in the toilet. Bottom line is that you can't spend all your time in the toilet and you can't be in 2 toilet at the same time.
  10. That might just work. I think your challenge is just find one that would use the electricity from the house and not battery. Might need some electronic engineering
  11. Do one row of LED? LED are energy saving and if you do a row of it, might be quite cool depending on your reno theme.
  12. It also depend at which stage your carpentry measurement is. For me, its pretty much near the end of the project where the wetwork, plastering, painting is done. Pretty much 70% of work is done before my 2nd 40% is due as I don't have too much carpentry.
  13. You can have as many light points as you want. It'll just cost you to add more. Might also have to deal with visible trunking.
  14. Just trying to offer an alternative view here and not trying to suggest that the income ceiling should be modified. With rising private housing prices, combined income of $8k/m will not be sufficient without over-extending. So you've a group of people who are too 'rich' to be eligible for HDB loans and new HDB flats but are too 'poor' to buy condos or landed property. So in a way, they will be some who are worse off than those who earns $7999. This just means that there is a gap somewhere in the overall policy which isn't easy to fix. Afterall, rich or poor, Singaporeans are citizens and your tax money should be used to improve everyone's life including your own.
  15. Here is my theory-craft. If you look at data from the department of statistics, you'll realized that the 2006 average household income is about $6k. Divide that by 2 and you get $3k. Interestingly, there is a very high chance that a grad will get more than $3k after 5 years and pretty likely for combined income to exceed $8k in the same period. What does this mean? I guess the policy 'encourages' people to get married early to enjoy the 'benefits' of the policy. With the current trend of later marriages and the economy picking up, quite a few people will be affected (close to 10% assuming household with >$10k don't need HDB). That said, I don't think there is much room for improvement. For example, making the income ceiling flexible by pegging it to the economic performance will probably create more work and unhappiness than the problem it solve. Unfortunately, public policies will not be able to keep everyone happy. Further analysis is left as an exercise for the reader
  16. Hmm.. copper will need painting so that it blends in to the wall as it will oxidize (and look ugly). However, it doesn't rust unless it has some iron compound in it.
  17. thanks. Will run down to check that today.
  18. Hi folks, My tiling for the bathroom is almost complete and the ID is asking us to buy the bathroom accessories. Been searching around but I couldn't find any good "L" shaped shower curtain rod to hand the curtains. Any idea where I can find them? or do they even exist at all? All I've seen are the straight bars type.
  19. Think i remember vaguely that there is a thread somewhere that discussed this. According to my ID, the price is somewhat similar. Personally, I took the stainless steel option as it will look more 'sleek'. Copper are 'bendable' to a certain extent so you will need less joins than a stainless steel option. Which means your plumber has to do more work when using stainless steel pipe.
  20. Hi folks, My tiles are being laid this week. When would be a good time to check, what to look out for and how to check them? e.g. hollow tiles - knock? throw marbles? etc
  21. Thanks.. I'll go take a look. Anyone knows the opening hours of the showroom?
  22. Hi folks, Anyone know where I can find chairs like this (hopefully in various colours)? Thanks in advance
