Mr E here. Actually after seeing all these grilles and sliding windows being able to be opened or removed in a few seconds, and also did some pondering upon the security of our new place. I m beginning to wonder what's the minimum safety and security requirements that BCA/HDB or <INSERT-RANDOM-STATBOARD-HERE> impose on the contractors. As in how much minimum safety is minimum enough, but removing and opening the windows in seconds doesnt seem like any minimum effort or requirement at all to me. Falling short of keeping a guard dog or installing a burglary alarm system or fixing a live electrical circuit to the windows which u switch on before u go to sleep, it also seems that safety and security minimum requirements has "sort of" been very much overlooked and neglected probably because our country is deemed very safe. Again, I don't know if the term "very safe"in the eyes of the authorities has been loosely used and misappropriated. Likewise because of this, contractors justify a certain price for a certain quality, so expect a rebuke or rebutt from them regarding extra locks and stuff when in the first place, extra security could have been added. Even perhaps an option to make them more secure would be greatly appreciated. What I also see is that, it is also "possible" for a random fellow to offer his "extra locks services" after "knowing" from whosoever has installed the windows. Seriously, I doubt anyone would be so free to "patrol and spot" every unit in the neighbourhood to earn an extra buck. The way I see it, one job that yields 300$ to 450$ a night is considered very lucrative. My sentiments with no offence intended to anyone else.

Hi June, still waiting for last rectification which will be our windows. Then a bit of DIY projects and tidying up of the study room which is Mr E's workspace and IMO, he doesn't seem to be making much progress there (oh he is so gonna kill me I'm also pestering him to take pix with the camera! If only my photography skills are better haiz... -
Hi potatoes, would you mind taking a picture of this lock to show me? Intend to show the sub-con and get them to rectify. Our concern is 2 sets of windows facing the corridor TIA!
-
Our window grills face the same problem and we discovered it cos my Mr E tested it himself recently. Tried telling both main & sub-con about this problem & asked for rectification but no solution yet. Last payment to main con held back till this is fixed though we are doubtful. Does the additional lock set make the windows more secure now?

The chair and ottoman are really cute! Where do you intend to place them? -
@jus4fun In exchange for the extra 6 sqm that we have for our 3A, we have to over-haul our houses!
-
Totally agreed that this is our home and not a pretty weekend apartment. It sure takes a lot of work and discipline to maintain it. Housework is a killer right? Later still have to iron clothes and tomorrow, vacuum & mop the whole house. And wash toilets so siong!

First home = burnt pockets with BIG holes. Same here Haha we will try to speed up the unpacking! And then use the DSLR for photos!
