  1. Song Cho range of toilet accessories are indeed MUCH better than those chrome coated stuff which will go green after years of usage. However I would also like to point out that the design range that has many weld joints will still rust, or rather rust will gather at such joints. Am refering to those with thin strips bend formed and then tac weld together and not those posted as above. All my pieces of such Song Chu range shows rust gathering at the weld joints, they are removable but unsightly and a tad of a troubel to do it so frequenty. This is despite if they are in direct or indiorect contact of weater. Still they offer greater satifactory than the previous bling bling chrome pieces which peeled and pitted after 2 or 3 years.
  2. Personal opinion, I feel you guys made haste decision and bought too many things at the spur of the moment. Buying and spending is easy as long as one can afford, the tough part is the placing and housing of the item. Eg built in oven position? Below stove? In a tower unit? Fridge width and positioning in the kitchen? Fridge, stove, sink and oven are the few main important things that needs planning in the kitchen. Other than aesthetics, there are also the daily usage, ergonomics and convenience aspects to consider. King size beds can fit in most 3 rooms to 5 rooms, then again given the size plus the frame, how will one be placing the bed? Does one expect to have wardrobes, dressing table or even a small working table in the same room? How about bedside tables? Need or do without? Currently you have yet to collect the keys, I suggest other big items such as dining table, sofas etc are best left till you step foot in the unit then to decide again. Some folks can live by floor plans, some need to see the actual area to visualise. Still, congrats to being a new house owner, hold back the excitement and anxiety will be fruitless!
  3. Overlay saves cost and neighbours will appreciate. However I think toilet needs to hack and not over lay. Main reason due to drainage needs to be install and positioned. Other than that, flooring will pretty much depends what you had choosen and what is the current material. If laying new HERF/Vinyl and current are tiles, you can simply overlay as these need a smooth and level flooring. As for tiles, your ID need to coment and advise, more about the load bearing and structural issues (2 layers of tiles will bear weight on the structure. Over to the kitchen wall, regardless of how ugly/dirty of the current wall, there is no need to hack IF you are doing top hung cabinet, full back splash and table top. Imagine you hacked the walls, replace with new and only finally to be covered by all above mentioned, you are paying for hacking, retiling and finally all walls to be covered again. If there are no back splash/top hung cabinets and walls are exposed, then you need to hack and replace. Given you are moving from old place to new place, with 3 princesses along, I believe you have sufficient barang from the kitchen to warrant for any top hung cabinets. So perhaps no hacking is the way to go for you?
  4. Holy smoke, that is huge! Really very interested to see what is in stall for the 2nd floor!
  5. First time seeing such layout. Care to share the square area?
  6. Some ID will construct a L box, same concept like cove light. L box will let the wire/cable "sit" on the ledge, kinda out of sight. Power socket normally are hack into the wall, achieving a "flush" look and since the box is in the wall, it is more sturdy and not shaky will unplugging. However given your power socket is in the kitchen wall, sitting on a back splash, the easiest way out is what your contractor did, especially when you did not specify how you wanna conceal it. You can redo the whole thing, remove power socket, remove back splash, sent for cutting the rectangle hole, hack into the wall then reinstall all again. This, will incurred substanstial cost though.
  7. 22 packs is very very heavy, about 400kg I reckon. If you have own transport, you can plan for self collect as per my post. Else delivery is about SGD200 perhaps. Anyway, even arrange delivery is also to your block and not to your door, likewise with all tiles even bought locally. Own transport is doable, also if possible bring 1 more pax to cater for GST. You need to have a slightly bigger vehicle and go slow all the way. Money saved is one thing, satisfaction is priceless.
  8. I did a few shippments with Amcon, so far fuss free. All items arrive intact. I agree that most issues arises from packaging and of course the transporting and handling does play an important part. I like the flexibility of Amcon, allowing me to consolidate items and also having a direct contact to the lady boss serve perks up confidence as well.
  9. OK , now this make sense then. My last dealing with them was on RMB550/cbm plus GST and the usuals. Overall I still find them reasonable on the charges. Using sea freight and volume basis charges, keeps the cost down, comparing to Peeka, Daigou etc.
  10. The renowned laminate wall. One of Mr. Foo's Signature design. Have one too in my walkway, loving it!
  11. I dont remember the length of each wall but total length is in excess of 7m. Some details can be found on page 15. Working backwards which I bought 22 packs, balance one and half and each pack covers approx. 1m2, so meaning I used 20 packs equals to 20m2. Divided by 20/2.8 = Approx. 7.14m Given your measurements of 2.87m x 2.8 = 8.1 m2. Calculating this ways means you need 9 packs. However you need to cater for broken pieces so buying 10 packs will be a safer bet.
  12. Nah, dont worry too much about other's opinion. Different folks, different strokes. The white marble look makes the washroom look bigger and airy, especially after a hot bath. Key point now is to match with ideal carpentry, table top and sink. I deem a top as a very important point in the washroom. A good one can house toilet rolls, shampoos, detergents and what not. Couple with a top to line up all the lotions, potions and solutions.
  13. Glad that you had choosen Mr. Foo as your ID, a no fuss and no nonsense guy who looks more like a contractor than an ID. He is very hands on and a have a great touch with laminates, my is done up by him and till today still ogling at the beauty of it.
  14. Actually I prefer JL's idea. Keep the recess area and let the mirror sit in there. Then you wouldnt need to do a full walled mirror or even need to frame it. The small recess area is good for all the nitty gritty small items, and height seems good enough to avoid any splash.
  15. Yup, from TB. Link as follow: https://shilinna.world.tmall.com/search.htm?spm=a220m.1000858.1000725.13.qoqUDT&rn=df6fbf5d41c795b5a97b8e5c1d7a18aa&keyword=sellena&user_number_id=1717503022
  16. Basin and sink accessories are provided when you buy the, connection is from the drain hole (underneath the sink/basin). The plumber will then provide the pipes and simple fixture to secure the connection.
  17. Custom made is definitely fit to the requirement. The depth, width, height, external laminate, colour combination, internal laminate etc all can be choose to meet and match requirement. This, comes with a price. Market rate nowadays goes from approx.. $180 per foot run up, so one can do the math before committing. One of biggest advantages which is also the biggest disadvantages of customary is made to fit but then, which also means cant be remove when moving house. Off the shelves offers flexibility and uniqueness. A nice standalone cupboard may the centrepiece of the living or the room. Then it also challenges owner’s depth of knowledge to mix and match. But most pieces will have empty space at the top or both (legs) and likely become dust trapper. Price wise, I feel nice pieces don’t come cheap nowadays, especially if looking at Jottergood and Commune kind of prices. A simple 4 drawer unit can be easily SGD1k, same price can get you about 4-5 feet of cabinet. Bottomline is also how the owner manage to blend both types in the overall look of the house while balancing the balance sheet.
  18. Seriously, can hack. Hack and then box up using carpentry. A full height one, the piping one can use to keep brooms and mops. The wall and window of the service yard simply just “eat” into your area. Beside this full cabinet, you can do a tower unit or to house a microwave and/or oven. As for the sink, based on your 3D, is really not advisable with the wall and window. Will have restriction when doing dishes, not forgetting the yard door is blocking as well. If you fine with it, I can post how I hacked the wall and window and boxed the 2 big piping here.
  19. Ikea's quality still remain much to be to desired. The better quality ones comes at a more premium price if you notice. Eg. Billy book case, no doubt the white ones are cheap, but the add-on glass doors are costly. Any other colour also tip the scale again. Made up of chip wood board, the shelves tends to warp after sometime with load.
  20. LOL, this is the fastest ever blog. From starting to finished reno, only 1 day. Nonetheless, the place is nicely done up with all the necessity.
  21. Just an idea, you can “thicken” the storeroom feature wall and do a shoe cabinet at the side. This will increase the number of shoes you can hold, for now and future. Another idea is that if you value storage space, you can do a full height cabinet along the living room (6.5m) wall all the way to window. Incorporate with mounted TV and an altar (if needed). I did something similar to my place turn out pretty good. Especially the amount of storage I have.
  22. Seems like missing a shoe cabinet? Or no need for it? By the way, what are those against the wall of the common toilet, opposite of the dining table?
