Rooftop Terrace
jt88 replied to adam's topic in Landed & Condo Private Properties Renovation Discussion
if its a brand new unit from developer i would advise not to do anything cos it will void the 1 yr defects warranty. if they permit to built anyting on the terrace, after that if u discover any defects (ie. leaking) they will not repair for u. -
the kitchen is very nice! it has that condo finishing and look. (enter from main door see kitchen first..)

went to HN, was told that most front loader are performance are "most or less the same". Was recommended continental brand Electrolux and Asian brand LG. In comparison, LG fares better than Electrolux in terms of pricing and specs. LG $899 (after disc of $222, HN promo only limited 30sets), 1400rpm, 8kg, 5 yrs warranty for rubber and 10yrs for drum Electrolux $999 (after disc, HN exclusive), 1000rpm, 7kg, forgotten yrs of warranty but I think its 2yrs for everything. If get LG, dun even need to buy the 5-yrs Extended warranty. Definitely value for money.

Clssic Ideas (delta House)
jt88 replied to h4happy's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
maybe I met the wrong person (he was the snr manager)... actually from begining didnt have much good impression of Classic. Their showroom in Changi has two units facing each other. I went to the left one, no one serve me. So I walk to the other one, the lady told me "oh, u have to go to the other unit as we only do high-end kitchen.." i was like actually for my friend's house, maybe the workers lazy, didnt do patch up works (carpentry and painting certain areas not acceptable) so my friend angry dun pay them. generally the workmanship I felt was quite ok. -
Looking For A Reliable Id
jt88 replied to Alysabeth's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
$500 for design and quotation? drop it. his knife so sharp i encountered one company who provide 3D (only living rm) together with revised quotation to me within a week. getting ID is really a headache. I'm getting keys in two weeks time still have not confirm one. pulling my hair liao.... -
Ho Bee
jt88 replied to oasis's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
hi all, how competitive is HoBee's pricing comparing to ID ie. how many % lower??? it seems like many members have very good comments on HoBee and I do have an idea what I want for my new place. Qtns: 1 Really difficult to book them? (I'm receiving keys on 14/7, want to start on 17/7 and complete one month later, no wet works, just dismantle existing feature wall x2, built in study + painting, false ceiling, feature wall, bed head, built glass to enclose the kitchen ..other carpentry works in 2 rms) 2 since they do not provide 3D, how do they confirm final dimension of carpentry work ie. TV Console? Must I be there all the time to make "on the spot" decisions? thx all.. -
Black Solid Top - Colour Fade After Things Are Placed

if yr solid top is granite, it is porous and will absorb water. but it will be gone after a while. -

my friend didnt pay them last 10% for bad workmanship and they didnt pursue for past one year. they have this "absorb GST" promo for quite some time already. i went to Changi Rd showroom but wasn't impressed so I gave up. -
dun commit unless u have seen a satisfactory quote/ID. one company also used pressure tactic on me, say they absorb GST till this week. Next weekend, later I saw on the papers that they absorb GST again!

i saw this from ST classifieds http://www.samsungdigitallife.com/products/index.html anyone here used it before? Gateman or Samsung is better? thx..
-
wah after the ID missed the timeline still call them? i'm quite skeptical abt ppl who cannot meet timeline (ironically set by themselves). cos at quotation stage also cannot provide on time, let alone two or three months of reno.
-
heard from ID that those manufactured in China usually cannot lasts. indonesia according to ID is better.

in addition, for those who have engaged ID to design the TV console + feature wall, what are the pros and cons have having TV on a console vs hanging it on a feature wall, other than to hide the unsightly cables?

Advice On My Quotation
jt88 replied to numb's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
my ID told me that haulage is not neccessary if the works do not include major hacking (of walls..etc). The respective contractor will remove the debris themselves. (in yr case, the toilet bowl installer will remove the old toilet bowl). I have been quoted from $300 to a ridiculous $1100 for haulage. Not sure abt acid wash, cos different ppl give me different explanations. -
Home Guide Design Id
jt88 replied to galsparkle's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
I may be confirming HomeGuide soon too! Met the ID twice seems ok. He produce 3D for living rm within a week. Quite prompt and eager to close my deal. But not sure if he will sharpen his knife later or not -
Comment On Quotation
jt88 replied to toonsim's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
on avg, how much do companies charge haulage fees? I was quoted between $300 - $1100! what big difference! One company do not charge at all as they told me that my house do not require hacking, so no haulage fees. what is haulage fees btw? is it that big container parked at the car park, for contractors to collect debris? plastering of walls, what is considered reasonable pricing? some charge me one lump sum $300 for plastering all affected parts. some say must go down to site and see. -

may I know, what costs are considered as hidden costs? any examples? -
no good impression with A&T. firstly, was supposed to met Mr A, but when I reached there, Mr B says Mr A has gone out and he will handle my case. After 1.5hrs of discussion, he tried to "psycho" me to pay $500 for detailed 3D design. Like what they told u all, he says he can provide the detailed drawings, I can pass on to another contractor/ID to do the job, if I find them expensive. I firmly said No and insist to see their quote first before I make any decision. Cos I am receiving keys in 4 weeks time, and I do not want them to hold on to my $500 and detailed drawing and let me wait for their drawings. He later gave in and told me that the quote will be ready next week. One week past but no reply. Another week later, he sms me the quote is ready. When we meet, he said: "Actually hor, I dun really know what you want" I was so mad, cos I gave him copy of Home & Decor mag to photocopy the design which I wanted and given him all the specs during the 1.5hrs discussion! Now he tells me he doesn't know what I want! after some discussion he said "actually hor, since u so urgently need to move in (next month), we no need to draw any 3D, just ask my men to make decisions on the spot (on the carpentry works) with you". So i ask him, "So i need to take leave for 4 weeks lah?" He says "thats even better!". My heart I was thinking I would be better off engaging a contractor if I dun want to see 3D and details drawing, save more. somemore he arrange to meet on a sunday, u know, the human traffic near their office is so high on weekends and difficult to find parking. i regreted meeting him.

I've gone to 14 companies and receive 8 quotes in the past two months, all by making appointments and meeting face-to-face. those who cannot meet the timeline (set by themselves) in producing the quotation I drop them the important thing is to get as many quotes as you can. get lots of ideas from them from meeting them at their showroom, look at all the materials, combined all their ideas you like into the final design and of cause read all the posts here on ID companies and the blogs. -
