  1. @bykaraanneThanks for replying! Good to know the table is holding up fine. Gives me more confidence to buy from them.
  2. Hi @bykaraanne! May I know your review for your dining table from Fortytwo? I've been thinking of getting an extendable dining table (not the same as yours) from them as well but I'm a little jittery about buying furniture without seeing and touching them. Thanks!
  3. Hi there, no I didn't go with Koong Yee in the end. Their quotation was not that cheap. Eventually, I went with a contractor rather than ID, as I know roughly what I want. Hope your renovation journey is going well!
  4. Wah, ok you confirm more chill than me. How come yours so long, you didn't start reno until very late? I finally confirmed my contractor, gonna pick tiles this weekend! Guess should be able to move in by early May ba, although not really in a hurry.
  5. Congrats, Malaxo! I also just got the keys to my resale flat this week and am excited to start reno. I have yet to finalise my contractor though. The T-blogs are a bit quiet of late, guess not many people renovating this season. I shall be checking back on your blog!
  6. Congrats on moving in! Must be nice to have the place in time for CNY, don't stress haha. I've been super chillax so I just started meeting 2 contractors on the day I collected my keys. And I already feel tired talking at such length and going back and forth on the quotations with the 2. Not sure if I want to meet more contractors, even though the 2 quotes both bust my budget by a lot now. 😅 I think by the time I confirm a contractor and get the reno permit, will be March already. 😁
  7. Hi dadajunior, do you know if J&E are now a HDB registered contractor? I called them some time last year but at that time they were not registered yet. I thought I read online somewhere that they might be getting registered by this year. Any idea?
  8. Hi Tri5tan, sorry to hear about your renovation woes. Have they been sorted? Koong Yee is one of the companies I may be considering so I'm quite concerned. Thanks for sharing any updates you may have.
  9. Wah, your place is looking great, I shall look at the rest of your t-blog soon for inspiration. Am going to be neighbours soon at AMK, getting keys to my resale 3-room flat next week.
  10. Hello! This made me laugh because it's the exact same paranoia I have - xiaoqiangs that cannot be seen! LOL. I'm getting the keys to my resale 3-room flat next week, so I'll be following your T-blog! Love your writing style. I'm still COMPLETELY clueless as to what to do with my place though - no contractors contacted, no design theme in mind, no mood board, no furniture/lights shortlisted, no nothing. I only know that the ENTIRE place needs to be overhauled and I don't want black tiles/walls/cabinets so that any xiaoqiang will be instantly spotted. Hahaha! So excuse me now while I go panic.
  11. Yes I've received, thank you! Will definitely contact Vincent when the time comes. Currently still undecided between curtains and blinds!
  12. Hello! Congrats on the move-in, your place looks fab! How did your curtains turn out in the end? Mind sharing Vincent's contact? Thanks!
  13. Anyone has more tried and tested ideas to keep out cockroaches? They're my #1 enemy. As I start to plan the renovation for my resale flat, I want to do anything possible to keep them out!
  14. I realised this thread is no longer active, but I was excited to find a layout that's identical to mine (except mine has a utility room)! My flat is a 3.5ng corner unit in AMK too, and you've given me some inspiration on what I can do.
  15. Thanks, Lucidacid, for going the extra mile to call HDB and clarify with J&E, wasn't expecting this so really appreciate it. Sorry if my posts caused some panic as that wasn't the intention. I believe all of us just want to do things the "right" way and share knowledge, especially for myself as a total reno noob. I have actually given J a call myself, after I called HDB just now. He mentioned the sister company as well. I think the crux is which company we sign the renovation contract with - under that sister company's name or under J&E's. This would be critical (this article addresses this issue a bit - http://www.propertyguru.com.sg/lifestyle/article/1/is-your-contractor-hdb-licensed-and-does-it-matter) Nevertheless, I'm happy to hear that J&E may be HDB-registered in the near future, as I'll only be getting my keys next year. Once the registration is underway, it'll definitely give me more peace of mind. I have confidence in the quality of J&E's work (especially looking at how beautiful your house turned out) and really hope to get a chance to work with them! Lastly, for anyone else who may get into the same dilemma as me, sharing one more article from HDB: http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10324p.nsf/w/HomeRenoImptNote?OpenDocument Ultimately, it definitely boils down to individual preference and comfort level.
  16. Ok, to answer my own question, I have actually just called the HDB hotline. The officer said clearly that it's a must to engage a HDB-registered renovation contractor (as per their website). No 2 ways about it...
  17. KenCan's concern is exactly my concern too. I was actually very keen to engage J&E as my contractor, after reading so many good reviews about them here. However, I also read from HDB's website that it's a legal requirement to engage a HDB registered renovation contractor to carry out renovations in a HDB flat (doesn't apply to private property like condos). The fine for engaging non-HDB registered contractor is up to $5000. http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10324p.nsf/w/HomeRenoGuidelines?OpenDocument When I get a chance, I will call HDB to find out. Meanwhile, if anyone can shed some light, would appreciate it too.
  18. Hello! You've got such a chirpy style of writing, great to read. I'm just starting out on my new home journey (just got my valuation report!) and am looking for contractors (don't need an ID). Would you be able to share your cobtractor's as well as J&E's contact with me please? Thank you!
  19. Hi, may I also get contractor J&E's contact from you? I keep seeing good reviews about them but couldn't get any replies on the contact. Am really excited to start my reno journey as I just got my valuation report today. Thank you!
  20. Hi everyone, I'm late to the party and realised the thread starter no longer visits this thread. Can anyone who has the contractor JE's contact pass it along to me? I'm starting out on my reno journey and would really appreciate it. Thank you!
  21. $0 COV for AMK 3.5NG, top floor corner, 5 mins' walk to MRT.
  22. Hi Lucidacid, May I please have your contractor's details please? I'm starting out on my search for a contractor (don't want ID), so appreciate the contact from you. Thank you!
