  1. I think every furniture shop got the more lasting and less lasting furnitures. Coz many different type of woods are used which resulted in different pricing. To say that all Ikea furnitures are not lasting is not a very fair statement. I'm sure there are many here who have Ikea items that lasted very long. I for example have 4 Ikea Billy Bookcase and 1 corner units. All have lasted for almost 10 years and still in very good condition. None of the shelves have warp. And I do put very heavy books like encyclopedia even on the top shelves. This is just one example of the many items from Ikea that lasted very long for me. Of coz, some of the furniture RIP liao but those when I bought it I know it will not last long becoz of the price.
  2. Was at Palace of Lights yesterday and saw they got some of those classic looking lamps (at least to me it seems classic). Price is reasonable and very friendly with good recommendations. Speak to Steven. They are at Balestier Crescent Building. Got all our lights and fans from them and this Thur installation.
  3. Aiyo LadyLuck, please don't give too much details about your habits. You never know who will be lurking in this forum screening through every single post. Individual post may not seem much details but collectively it could be a wealth of information for some perverts. So please be careful and you might wanna edit away.
  4. Wah...really 'kill people, put fire'. Tai Lan Pan Hue.
  5. * below are just my personal opinion * Usually flat start to lost their value more quickly when they cross 30years. However, some estate are so popular that even those 30-40 years flat are still selling at crazy (at least that's how I feel) prices. The older the flat, the higher chances it will get en-bloc since Singapore is constantly on renewal. But it does not guarantee it will be anytime soon. Much also depends on the location, the surrounding, and how much land area it can yield. My personal feel is that if it's an exclusive area with very few blocks the chances of getting en-bloc soon will be less likely (but doesn't mean it will not) than those bigger estate with similar old flats. Reason is it gives more room for redevelopment. If you are the lucky one that your old flat got redevelop, you will not only get a new flat at better prices, what I understand it will not count as 1 chance of getting direct HDB flat since you are in a way 'force' to move. !!
  6. Speaking of curtain, I better measure mine quickly and addon to the Ikea delivery. Good thing I don't have that many windows. Heehee...
  7. Just bought my Amasco water heater for both common and master toilet. Installing this Thursday but will not be taking a shower with it till I move in, hopefully in 2-3weeks time.
  8. The sys4 inverter Mitsubishi quote I got is around $3400-$3700 without bracket, so consider reasonable bah. Not sure if others can get better price.
  9. In case you still need. Just came back from Palace of Lights in Balestier. They sell Amasco fans. Pretty nice design and reasonable priced. My friend has been getting from this shop so recommended me to go there. Spoke to the guy call Steven. Very helpful with good recommendation. So bought on the spot all the ceiling fans I need, and also got the rest of the lights from him as well.
  10. Strange...I thought I saw it recently at Ikea, an improved version of it's previous one...maybe I am seeing things. But DIY shop, departmental store (under baby safety section) will all sell them.
  11. Hmm...JB ah...do they come to measure? Or need to give dimension to them? The curtain rods got to do yourself here or included? Do they have a wide selection?
  12. Izit? Salesman never say leh, say liao maybe he will earn more comms...haha...
  13. Not sure exactly, but should run for at least a week or 2 bah. Just got mine, along with other things, got them to deliver since some items are big and heavy.
  14. In case you haven't notice, Ikea Home Furnishing Sale is now on at both outlets. Alexandra is under renovation but fully operational but certain items may have lesser stocks there. Tampines extended shopping hour till 11pm for every Fri, Sat and Sun. For those looking at full leather sofa set, they got one red-brown HAMRA series on sale at almost half price. 3 seater at $895, 2 seater at $695, 1 seater at I think $495 (the 1 seater price not so sure). They also have another sofa series on discount. Some of the items at good discount but only restricted to certain colors. Like the LACK shelf UP $29 now $9 but only for birch veneer. Happy shopping!
  15. Yeah, UP $9 now $6. Not bad lah...the rest not on sales but still have to get them, will be going down later again. I actually like the magnetic knife block, even though it looks dangerous at first glance.
  16. I bought my display unit washer during the Gain City sales and has to pay $20 for delivery.
  17. Thanks! Yeah, both Tampines and Alexandra on sale, but not on the GRUNDTAL series though, except the magnetic knife block. I check out liao...just came back again from Alexandra but some things out of stock (renovating there so think got lesser stock). Since buying quite a bit of stuff and need delivery, decide to go Tampines tomorrow so can do it at one go.
  18. Yeah, I agree, coz these things are never turned on unlike TV turn on the entire day. Or sofa where thousands or people have sat on it.
  19. If I were to do it, definitely not under the floor tiles. Have to think about troubleshooting.
  20. I believe it is here, but you can call to check. 21. Think I need a through check on my furnitures for any mouldy stuff liao...
  22. Was at Ikea preview sales today. Saw some of the price tag (in the toilet section) hanging there got state the density. Some of the items everything is 18/10, some of the item only the bracket is 18/10 and the tube is 17/0. Absolutely no idea of the difference. Haha... But notice the kitchen section display don't state the density anymore.
  23. Haha...our neighbour don't say lah, it's cheap for us coz of exchange rate, like a guy from England will probably find our things dirt cheap! Heehee....
  24. Not sure why when I go to your T-blog and click on the image link, the link is broken, but looking at some of you able to see, maybe it's my connection. But sounds like a nice idea in terms of easier cleaning. Will check on durability.
  25. From what one of the customer service officer say, it's now out of stock, when the new stock come in in Mar, he also not sure got free or not. So may want to wait for a while more in case they give free again once stock is in. After all, they got you once, they got you for life (almost lah). So they may (I highlight "MAY" only hor, coz I also don't know) give free again.
