LCD or Plasma TV
keltong replied to sakae sushi's topic in Sound and Vision -Home Theatre Systems & Audiophiles
Yeah...go with your own feel...get one that YOU like...not what someone said will better...afterall YOU are the one watching. But off coz...it doesn't hurt to hear other's opinion...but you will need to make the final decision. -
Hi, I think it should be per foot run (pfr) and not per sq foot (psf). Must ask properly how the contractor quote. Some quote pfr for top and bottom cabinet separately. Use a very simple example, lets say you build a straight line cabinet and from one end to other is 10 feet. And you want to build top cabinet for 5 feet only, so that is total 15 feet, and the cost will be 15pfr. So just for example if pfr is $200, so total will be $3000 excluding counter top. So if counter top is $100 pfr than it will be an additional $1000 ($100x10feet since top cabinet no counter top). This is an example if they count top and bottom separately. Note: The prices used in this example are frictional.

Re: Front Load Washing Machine For Recommendation
keltong replied to homanfai's topic in Electronics & Electricals
If you are paying cash, check out the WM at places like Courts, Best, Havey, etc...and than go to one of those neighborhood shop recommended in the forum and get quote from them (can call over the phone to quote, just tell them the model). -
Hi, their service is good but the workmanship is not 100 percent. Some of the drilling and sealing up afterward not as good as I hope. But the laying of the trunking and their suggestions are quite good. They are friendly and responsible, got 3 person but 1 not experience one, so more like a helper. Because the compressor is too big to fit into the window they took out one window to bring it through, the only problem is they didn't ask me for permission. Then they tried to fit is back themselves. But their are no trained on windows installation and I do not trust their installation (coz casement got law to abide) and I believe their will not have the right tools. This is confirmed by my window grille contractor and I decided to ask them to re-install for me. Since their are already here can save on transport and pay for the stainless steel rivet price only.

I think it's too high...Kun Seng Toshiba Sys4 Invertor is 3.2K (incl GST), if upgrade to better material will be maybe $200 more. If sys3 and sys4 price (before upgrade) should be about $600-$800 difference. But you also have to consider if all the fancoil are same BTU or 1 is bigger, and also there is a question of workmanship, will you want to go for the cheapest or pay a bit more for better workmanship. As for who has better workmanship, search around the forum and see the recommendation, and the end of the day, go with someone you are comfortable with. just my 2cts.

I see, can't comment on their after-sales service as (touch wood) don't need it so far. This is my second sets of Ariston hood, hob, oven, so hopefully everything goes smoothly as well.

Really? Ikea one will mouldy? I got 2 types, one is the white but can see through type for my rooms and one is the cheaper white cannot see through one for my aircon ledge, but notice HDB build the window very stupid, now still thinking to ac ledge one whether to install of not.
-
What's the size and how much is it? Make in USA? Wow...
-
Do you consider Ariston? Their entry level is about 600+, and us pretty good unless you do heavy baking/grilling.

Just for my aircon and grille up....the compressor cannot fit into the window and they have to remove one of the kitchen window. But don't trust them to fit it back (esp after the recent law on casement window), and my grille contractor was around ask them to fix for me. One look they know if they (the ac contractor) are using stainless steel rivet but it look all the same for me, lucky for me the grille/window contractor is around so I seek his advise. After they re-fix for me I feel more at ease liao. Also got my wallpaper up at my TV console area and where my bed will be. Have not seen the final result yet, will be going over to check later. *anticipating* Saw my neighbor downstairs almost all units (except 1) have fixed up aircon liao...and think some have moved in already. So fast!

Normal Washing Machine Or The Front Load Washer Cum Dryer
keltong replied to GraCieGaL's topic in Electronics & Electricals
One thing is washer cum dryer means if the machine dies...both are likely to die...so if you intend to get washer and dryer suggest to get separate one. If both are front load, and stack them up. This is just my personal feel. I myself use separate one. After out from dryer, can fold the clothes liao...not need to hang anymore. Good during raining season....no more smelly/damp clothes. Really useful. I use those slim type so quite space saving (same function as front load but it's top load kind). -
Cool...I just confirm my toshiba sys4 inverter today. It's a friend recommendation so also not sure how good it is. Can only tell after installation tomorrow and after using for a while Cheers!

wah...looking forward to seeing it men...

I think I can guess what brand of TV you bought.

I have been thinking hard and long on this matter too. If you read some of my posting, I have be considering on this matter for quite some time. At first I was dead set on a system 4 inverter. Than I change my mind and want to go for non-inverter, than back and forth and finally decided on a sys4 inverter. Usually 2 aircons will be switch on every night (about 8 hrs) so according to what I understand inverter will make sense. Than I install ceiling fans in every room and wonder if I will switch on the aircon less often. In the end I decided to just go for the inverter coz I can imagine in those hot months (which is most of the months in Singapore) I will most like on 2 (and maybe even 3 at times) aircons so looking at long run, I should save. Also, my colleague who has an inverter aircon and her utility bill seems lesser than the national average. So I am taking my chances with the Inverter. Furthermore, it uses the more environmental friendly gas so just trying to do my bit

Haha...I kinda figured...Rinnai seems not bad, even though I have never used before.

Through contractor one leh. 2 China guy came, with everything still in my house (including piano, sofa and all), they finish in 2days, but complain coz need to move so many things around.
-
Yeah, like what gohkm said...it depends on the situation. But now you said that you and your wife cannot form a family nucleus, so does that means your parents name need to be the essential owner? Need to read up HDB to clarify the rules or speak to the HDB officer and explain the situation clearer. Sometimes they take for granted a default situation that may be slightly different from yours. Better to be double sure. Also, if you and your gf married, you will be able to apply under the public scheme right?
-
Gosh...what kind of service is this?!? #@%$
-
I used to just see classified and call and ask them to come and install. But this is because I am changing door only. You contractor should be able to take care for you, but not sure if they will charge a premium.

So which brand of cooker and hood did you purchase? Gas? Vitroceramic? Induction? Nuclear?

How To Save Water?
keltong replied to wmayeo's topic in Moving House: Packing, Storing, Moving To Your New House
There was this water saving button given by SP Services some time back than helps to reduce the flowrate, very easy to install. Should be easily available.
