Ooppss, paiseh paiseh - Sorry for the late reply, zenzenzen. First off, thanks for reading my blog. And, many thanks for the compliments on the house. I must say that we didn't have any official quotes for the renovation though we highlighted to our ID our reno budget. But somehow, the budget overblown Still, as we look back today, it was worth it. I must say, today as we live here for three years, things are still good even with the wall paints. I shall PM you the reno cost. Yes, you are right about our ID. She was a professional architect and interior designing was only her passion. The good thing about having her was her vast knowledge and expertise in construction and reno materials and architectural and building know-how. She had good contacts too. Yes, we paid quite a big sum on her professional fee but never regretted it. Right from the start, she was very transparent when dealing with all the contractors handling our renovation. She provided us the quotes and where there were discounts and/or trade commissions, these amounts were given back to us. Perhaps, it was such an honest arrangement that we never insisted having an official quote. I am glad that the Renovation Tips are useful. But credit should go to our ID who educated us on it.

Wah, I can imagine how big your sofa is. Must be super comfortable lazing around, and watching tv, here in the living room. Nice progress, gnipihz.
-
How about no skirting? I skipped all skirtings (tiles in living/dining and laminate for bedrooms).
-
I think it has to do with the quality, and hopefully the layout, of the foam. I recall when my ID was sharing with me about foams. I guess to rectify your errr 'tiny' hollow sound, perhaps more cement for just that area?

Wow sleek!, hack hack hack. Love the space!!!

Such a cool and nice place you have there, dcool. It is always a great advantage when you can DIY - hehe, it is a gift! I like the ways you engineered many hidden things.
-
I prefer this one - the second draft. I like the effect upon the TV. And, I will have the whole of the TV Console with the same laminate.

Welcome to RT and Congrats on the house purchase, enrico. Yup, we have the same house layout with the exact two sets of windows in the kitchen. This is one reason why I bought my place as it really makes the kitchen airy and bright. Hehe, the only difference, both our units are a mirror reflection to each other. I was told by my RC Chairman, who is a neighbour, that there are only 97 flats of 5I with 2 windows areas in the kitchen islandwide. Happy Reno, enrico

Hi angelbutterfly, The diagram says it all, as how the fibre network is plugged. May I provide you the dimension of the Terminal Point and Singnet Modem. Hopefully, these measurements I(not exact) will make it easier for you with the TV Console design. OpenNet TP - Width x Height - 3 x 6 inches. Please note, for the height, I have included the cable drop (connection). Singnet Modem - Width x Height - 7.5 x 8 inches My experience with OpenNet - It is always easier to deal with the contractors when they are at your place. They tend to oblige as to where you want the fibre cable to run. The only thing that they will insist, and highly not giving in to request, is not to bend the fibre optic cable. As much as I wanted the TP to be inside the TV Console, the contractors refused to do it since the optic cable required a sharp bend. I could understand the reasoning as they (probably) want to make sure that they have installed as guided with the guidelines.

From Rags To Riches.. Our Second Home In Pasir Ris
Reiki replied to Jaschar83's topic in Reno t-Blog Chat
This sentence moves me. It is how many of us start too, Jaschar83. Congrats on the purchase of the flat. Have a smooth reno. -
Somehow, even with the wall erected to cover the original main door, the place looks bright. Nice, gnipihz! Hang on there! Reno is also about building our patience
-
During my renovation, my ID did mention about another company - Ximula. Strangely, if you are to reverse this word, it becomes Alumix. You might want to do comparison with this store too.
-
I just love jambo house! Congrats on your purchase yaolong. Happy Reno!
-
Do also call Fullsun Marketing P L (also at Jalan Besar) for price comparison.
-
Where do you get them, jopej?
-
Hi jopej, Where do you get these three items? Mind sharing their prices? Thanks in advance.
-
Wow, what a neat and tidy house! It looks big and spacious. How big is this 'old flat' eh? Hehe, I wonder if you still have the floorplan.
-
If the existing main door is fire rated, it will be a waste should you change it to a non-fire rated. What I did to the main door, during renovaton, was to get the carpenter to strip off the design. Make it plain and and give a new laminate.

Hi ejszaka, Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of that glass thing. It is actually (and I hope I can describe it clear here) a glass wall, instead of a brick/cement wall. It is not a glass display cabinet. Your idea to make the pillar a feature pillar sounds interesting. Doing so, you can totally ignore the suggested glass wall (and save $$$) yet uncluttering that space.

Wow! Though (and with respect here) my personal preference is always for a bright white house, I must say that your home has all the right ambience, mabaricows. It is so meditatively calm filled with wonderful tranquility and serenity. Hehe, I feel so much peace just admiring your house.
-
Hopefully, all turns well, aegis. Yup, we are neighbours! From what I know - yes, you need to get HDB permit to change such to such windows.
-
Must say that this is ridiculous. Hopefully, you are able to get it remedied, aegis. BTW, are you in JE St 24 area?
