Hey no offense, was agreeing with you! Definitely do what you like rather than what's on trend! Good luck with your reno!

FF: finally eh?? No pics of the second or third floor yet, the man in charge says they're not ready for photographs yet cause not all of the art is up! Settling pretty well, still doing lots of DIY (like fabric in lieu of wall paper!!!, looking at an old desk from the junk shop and thinking of refinishing it...I think we'll be renovating for the next 10 years! How's your place doing so far? Et209: thanks!!! When the ID asked what theme we wanted we just said cozy, comfortable and timeless. I think it's cause we're older we're not too keen on "trendy" stuff that will date quickly. The pillars are engineered wood from Wood and Wood who also did the Burmese teak decking in the patio. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants to do their flooring. We love the patio too! Spend most of our time there when we're not sleeping. In fact I don't think we've ever used the dining room yet coz we eat in the patio all the time! Looking forward to sitting there on weekends with a glass (or two) of wine and a good book! It's also been a great place to entertain.

Hi sgsam Welcome to renotalk and good luck with your reno. I'm not sure about the prices, best get the ones who have more info to comment (coz the previous 3 apartments I renovated were brand new condo's). Your condo management should be able to give you a copy of the floor plan, easier to plan around and ask for comments that way.

Hiya Olg, sorry for late reply, been on the road for work lot! Don't really know any contacts for gardener/landscaper coz hb and I did up the plants ourselves. And unfortunately, we didn't have a grassy area coz the previous owner cemented up the front yard!! -
Hi sgsam, Firstly, NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, hire the so called ID firm we used! Secondly, be firm on what you want vs need. Think of a theme and work the whole house around it. Thirdly, look ahead to how you want the space to be utilized in the next 3, 5, 7, 10 years (or how long you will stay in the place). No point knocking out the 2nd bedroom to be a walk in wardrobe if you anticipate you want 5 kids. This of course depends on how long you plan to stay in that home. Fouth, lights and soft furnishings make or break the design of a home. Hope this helps... if you want any advice, just PM me!
