Remember, you need to filter through all the marketing noise and the sales talk, then understand what type of stuff you watch:

SD = standard definition like free to air TV, or DVDs

HD = high definition, like Blu Ray

Then see which are the popular models and choose from there based on your budget.

I personally prefer plasmas for their picture quality and energy consumption is secondary to PQ.

I seldom watch TV, and the lowest quality I go is for DVDs for old movies, but Blu Ray discs form the majority of my viewing diet.

My Mac SE... one of the first models with a 3 1/4" drive + a 40 MB HDD - which was totally radical at that time...

i bought a panasonic U series 50" FHD for 999, but it is a display set that was used for 4 months. comes with full warranty though. i think a new set now sells for about 1300. nothing fancy about this though, no 3D, no fancy statisitcs, got a LAN connection but only connected to facebook and shoutcast. i use my china media box to stream my network movie though, so i do not need any fancy feature TV.
