Journey Of My Minaret Walk

Recommended Posts

Day 7 (10 Aug 2012)

Today is plumbing day. The plumbing team came down early in the morning. After some confirmation about where the various water points should be, they started work hacking into the walls and pipings. Also met up with my IDs and run through some of the additional stuff I wanted to do. Top of the list is to shift out the window in the wardrobe room.

The way this window was constructed was pretty weird, and the grill was actually installed outside. This contributed to one of my waterproofing problems at the planter area. Hence, I intend to tear away this window and install another one at the edge instead. The window grills will be shifted inside. The planter area I intend to fill up so that it becomes a bay window instead.

Dude, not as major as yours. I'd probably hacked and replaced everything except parquet and wardrobes. But no A&A. But reno is addictive I must say, we always want to add this, add that, hack this, hack that. Lol. No wonder budget already overrun by 20k liao. :(

Day 8 (11 Aug 2012)

Nothing much was done today it seems. When I visited the site, nobody was around. However all the water pipings and points are up already. Storage heaters have also been installed already.

Went shopping today and bought a Fanco ceiling fan for the living room.

Hi Suyun,

I am also a newbie. We learn from each other. Yours is also a terrace? Don't worry, God will see you through.

Hi Minerat,

thank you for your encouragement. I bought a semi d with a small land plot. Still in the planning stage while waiting to complete the transaction.

May I know how much is your renovation budget for this scale of work? I am planning of replacing all waldrobe, new toilets, wet and dry kitchen, feature walls....

Well the list seems to get longer. Anyway I am going to visit heritage to look at their products as per your blog.

Looking forward to your update. God bless.

Yup, mine is A&A, money spent also Add & Add. I have just confirmed quote to replace the existing roof too. Another big ticket item, but think is essential.

Roof and anti- termite.

For my case I'd already onto close to 100k for renovation alone. Hacking and haulage probably contributed 30%!

Can PM me your roofing contractor? Like to get another quote for my roofing issues too.

Day 9 (13 Aug 2012)

Finally they have started to lay the tiles today! So exciting that finally I am seeing some beauty amidst all the sand and concrete.

While measuring the length of the tile, the tip of the measuring tape got stuck in the gap. When I yanked it out, I chipped off a small piece of the tile. Argh!!! No choice have to ask the tiler to redo that piece already. So paiseh.

The world of contractors is so strange. For my roofing issues, I have seen 4 contractors and all 4 gave me very different ways to resolve the issue. What is worse is that all 4 said the other contractor's recommendation is bull and won't work. Hahahaha.....who to believe???

Hi Minerat

my roof also can see yellow colour patches but i think there might be more areas that i have not found out. i have not started my renovation yet. only when i remove the false ceiling in toilets then will i know my roof condition. hope i dont have to go through four contractors and be stuck in a dillema.

i prayed God will provide the right contractors to renovate and house. may you commit this to the Lord our provider.
