Looking for good contractors? Click here for your request

........ now is the time for buying lights... any recommendations? Think ID will be bringing us to Geylang to buy lights...

Or we should look around on our side first? Was told by the eletrician that don't buy lights from Taiwan as the quality is not very good... any comments on this?

Hi, ah blur, if you are using solid surface, it's better to get light colours so that the scratches cannot be easily seen 'cos solid surface scratches easily.

What does your ID recommend?

If you really want black, you may want to switch to granite but it is expensive. Maybe you can go for other neutral colours like light grey solid surface with some patterns e.g. spots, etc. so that any stains will not be easily seen? IMHO.

Homeowner..

Think it looks abit like granite.. not those normal type... so he recommend black... just that when i told my aunt, she say don't choose cabinet colour... white if not next time will turn yellowish...

Msg ID today, and his reply was... if taken good care won't turn yellowish... how?

maybe u can try something.. they got the sample right? maybe u can try to scratch it... u see how obvious the black against the white.. if the ID allows it.. i did that for my selection of the solid top.. we scratch until our ID also start to scratch all to see how much difference it look and took the least obvious one..

just a tip.. black colour solid top with a scratch will be obvious.. :)

do it if ur ID allows u scratch the samples.. :)

Just visited a neighbour's place yesterday. She had white carpentry done in the living room and study room SIX years ago and it still looks good! !!. But, she maintains her place very well. Her tip if you really want "white carpentry": choose off-white e.g. cream so that if it turns yellow, it's not so obvious.

Don't quite understand the "like granite" but not granite, though. Is it still solid surface?

after looking at many lights, we were recommend the m'sia lights are bettar, but a bit more expensive than china/taiwan lights.

the boss who serve me is very knowledgable , make good receommendation and my electrician said i made a good choice on the lights too.

well, i got for a good reasonable price and is cheaper than those in Geylang lights. Service wise. no horse run. superb. one of the best shops i visit so far.

and never let your ID bring u buy light. they get fees for it and it comes from the higher price you pay,

Yes. True enuff that ID will earn from it. My ID told me too. He will earn a bit...he claim that he dun earn much from there lah....but he is perfectly ok if we want to buy on our own....Just that they can provide service like helping u coordinate the delivery lah, change the lights/bulbs for you in the event that spoilt, etc....Eventually we decided to get our own lights as we prefer to save the money on other areas....

For downlights what tubes do you recommend ? Been told that now all osram tubes come from china...no longer from Germany...even though the box stated the office location is Germany...
