Yup, so I hope my ID take it the right way lo. Anyway, so far so good.. Cross fingers nothing goes wrong during the renovation and if anything goes wrong, can be settled smoothly..

Its not about trusting or not. Its for documenting and prevent any argument when things don go right...

Haha ya.. I asked for everything to be stated down. To the extent that I scared my ID thinks I don't trust him. Opps! But definitely agree on the making things clear part!

You can undermount a topmount sink but it will not be a perfect fit. There will be a larger gap between the sink and the bottom of the counter-top. This is because the edge of the sink was not designed for undermounting. A sink specially designed for undermounting will have a flat edge which will fit nicely to the bottom of the countertop. Normally, this type of sink cannot be topmount as it is not suitable. Anyway this is like asking whether all mushrooms can be eaten. The answer is yes. Just that some of them you can only eat once.

Actually most of the stuff i choose for my home is on the brighter/lighter colour. Both me and wifey dislike dark/lowly dim home. Most importantly, any insects/roaches hiding at one corner cant be seen easily especially in the toilet!! (wife and kids detest them!) For me, Im very particular about toilet cleanliness, must be clean, dry and smell nice. I noticed alot of ppl using black tiles which actually looks nice and easy to maintain but if algae starts to grow, cant notice.

I mentioned in my earlier post about this declaration that home owners need to make from 1st Apr 2014 onwards... regarding engaging a HDB registered contractor/ID. The link from HDB is here http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10324p.nsf/w/HomeRenoApplyPermit?OpenDocument

Nowadays my window-shopping time and focus is spent on household appliances more than anything else! It's quite funny,.. fancy talking about brands of hobs and hoods and ovens instead of shoes and bags and dresses etc. Haha. Anyway, hubby and I were at HV for lunch yesterday and walked into Parisilk to check out their prices. Wow, just when we thought Goh Ah Bee has already one of the lowest prices around.... Parisilk surprised us at their even more competitive pricing!! Think we're likely going to get some stuffs from them. But we'll probably get down to buying it when we get the keys... don't think they can hold stock as long as those bigger dept stores. The salesman also told us not to worry, just buy only when it's time because the prices aren't going to fluctuate. No hard-selling, very good. Love it when we discover a good deal!! A place to consider for those who are looking around for houshold appliances... heh heh.

it depends whether you are changing the entire lock set or only changing the mortice cylinder. mine is only changing the mortice cylinder. Mortice cylinder, it is only the part where your key is inserted. Quote: A cylinder lock is a lock constructed with a cylinder that a locksmith can easily unscrew to facilitate rekeying. Ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cylinder_lock Entire lockset includes mortice cylinder, door handle, etc. looks like this: http://www.yaleasia.com/en/yale/yale-asia/yale-lock-products/?groupId=4502&productId=60674 Changing entire lockset can be expensive. starting price if i remember correctly is $200 and above.

Jus to share, I had posted tis in someone's blog but for e sake of sharing e info on my Tblog am putting it up here as well... Since I had always loved e idea of an aquarium setup in e house where it adds so much of color n life to e place, I'm noobs bout fish keeping etc n believe such big pieces of built in or feature aquariums can cost a real bit n den I found tis site n tis item.. Guess some of u may love it.. Do check it out, I may be getting it most probably before my reno is completed, partly also cos my kids love e idea too n they will love watching e fish ard.. A rather compact but not too tiny solution tat adds a whole new dimension to e beauty of e house.. All u need is an additional side table to place it on n ur good to go. Best part it's so super affordable for e beauty of it.. http://www.aquafishtanks.com.sg Believe FS wise is also beneficial as my intensive reads about it says tat fish tanks r a stronger attraction to e rolling in of good luck n wealth compared to water fountains etc as it's live feed, movement etc.. Happy to share my find wit ppl who may find it a gem jus like I thought of it.. Can't wait to have reno completed n get tis wit e fish n get it moving to have our own mini aquarium lol

Obviously any competent contractor or ID would not design or allow such a placement for the cooker hob. I mean seriously anyone with common sense would know better than to put the hob next to the cabinet.

Hi Enjoyed reading your reno journey. I am new to this - just the first step I.e. Looking for IDs - browsed posh home's website and thought some of the projects look ok.. Could you share your quotation with me so that I could get a gauge of the costs? My email is lltan72@gmail.com. Thanks and much appreciated!

I din paint mine either.. Btw, would say your progress is pretty fast; think my tiling/ hollow blocking took about 1 month?

though i am not a "brick wall" person, i also think the original is very nice. so don't paint. You can always paint it white a few years down the road.
  23. 1 point
Keep it this colour, don't paint white. It's super natural and beautiful!

The current colour of the craft bricks looks v original.. Vote to keep it this way to go with your theme

Best not to paint it white. its unique as it is on its own.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We're back from our overseas trip to celebrate the holidays with family and friends. Over the last two days, we had a couple of gatherings with groups of friends, so we transformed our study room to a cozy dining area, enough to comfortably sit 10. Here are some before and after pics of the makeover. [read more on our blog post here] Before: Our study on a typical day After: Our study converted into a cozy dining space
