Moved in over the weekend. Used 'Rodex Movers'. They were the lowest quote among the 4 movers I asked. [Actually Helping hands' quote is comparable, but the person handling phone calls is not very forthcoming with information. He sounded like he can't wait to hang up my call, kept ending sentences with 'ok, bye' after each question I asked. Maybe I caught him at a wrong timing.] For my move, me blur blob didn't confirm timing properly. I assumed was morning, admin lady didn't highlight it is a a afternoon slot, though she said she did when I called their office Saturday morning...I must have momentary lapse of memory or something. Anyways, so the move was scheduled for 3pm on Saturday. Not very punctual though. I called the move supervisor around 3.10pm when no sign of them and he said 3.30pm. Ended up the team arriving at 3.50pm or thereabouts. Team of 5, came with laminates and trolleys. They did know how to dismantle and re-assemble wardrobe and beds. Was careful with belongings too - no throwing of boxes or anything. Very efficient once they arrived. They moved all my 15 boxes of barangs + TV, dismantle and reassemble furniture within 1 hour. The guys all looked Indian, all very polite and cheerful. Overall still quite happy with the movers. Will update with pictures of the move in later. Very busy weekend with the unpacking...

My 2 water heaters have been installed over the weekends. I bought 2 different brands. 1 is BeeBest water heater which comes with its own rainshower! Yay! The 2nd water heater is the good old 707 Compact water heater which i think that if BeeBest failed me (I din see many people using this brand and its a msian brand), at least I still have 707 loh... BeeBest Water Heater: ">http:// Verdict: Water pressure is good with the rain shower as well as the normal shower head! Actually, i think the normal shower head is much powerful than the rain shower! I guess because BeeBest has a DC pump incorporated inside for the purpose of having a rain shower. 707 Compact Water Heater: ">http://> Verdict: What can I say as this is a good old trusted brand. I am using this brand at my current house for at least 10 years liao... Personally, i feel that the Water pressure for BeeBest Rain Shower is the same as 707 compact normal shower head. However, water pressure for BeeBest normal shower head is much stronger than 707 Compact normal shower head. I am glad that I made these purchases!

The lights from Taobao were installed on Saturday without the cove lights as we have yet to get them. It was only then we realized one of the lights for the service yard and household shelter was missing a part. It was a little frustrating considering that we chose Peeka as the agent because of the inspection service that they offer. Anyway, I will update on how will they resolve this matter. And then there were lights... Living Room Kitchen and Bedroom 1 Bathrooms Service Yard and Household Shelter Study Main Bedroom

1. The power sockets look old and this got me thinking if I should do a one time re wiring -some renovation quotation exclude electrical cost. Hence you need to ask your contractor to include quote for electrical work so as to see the total cost. -since you are planning for rewiring, do take into consideration open net installation so you won't see ugly cable around. -look around for nice sockets as those provided by contractors may not look nice. -have some electrical points at waist level so don't have to always bend down, not good for the lower back. 2. I also want a plumber to come check all the pipes in the house in order to avoid a leakage in future - no comment as I'm not experienced. But do tell the contractor where exactly you want the water spray gun to be installed (I prefer waist level) - price is higher if you are going for concealed piping. - consider if you prefer to use instant water heater, storage heater or citygas. 3. The owner has not installed any AC so I would need to install 5 units -Most common brands used by Singapore are Mitsubishi and Daikan. You can inquire at Courts or Best Denki. About 9000 BTU for common bedroom, 12000 BTU for master bed room, and 18000 for living room, depending on the size of your rooms. Discuss with the installer the exact trunking position otherwise the installer will just go for the easiest and shortest route which may look ugly with those trunking exposed. Prefer not to hide the trunking otherwise there may be problem if it leaks in future. And warranty to me is very important. 4. Kitchen needs to be broken down and rebuilt - You can start to look for kitchen hob, hood, basin and fridge. As the contractor will need to know the measurement of these items to customize the kitchen cabinets. 5. Need laminate flooring below and polishing of parquet on second floor - For parquet, it's called sand & vanish. Polishing is more for marble flooring. Most contractor has contact for sand & vanish services. For laminate, search interent for some well known brand and arrange meet up with those laminate company just to learn since it's FOC lesson. 6. Toilet below and two toilets above needs to be broken down and rebuilt - You can start looking around for toilet bowls, wash basin and shower heads etc. Ask your contractor to do all accessories installment FOC for you, not to quote by piece installation. 7. Built in wardrobe for 3 rooms - Contractor usually quote by 'foot' regardless of design so you may wish to think of what design and whether to go for slidding door or not. 8. Painting - Ask for at least 3 paintings (first painting, second time before moving in furniture, aircon installation etc, and final touch up) and at least 5 different colours. Ask for the brand of the paint used too.

Strips counter design was suggested by Mr which matching with the kitchen entrance strips wall. Mrs like the brilliant idea and looking forward to welcome Mr back home while Mrs is preparing meal at the counter. TV console set up with Mr ideal TV Our house has handover last Friday. We has been busy cleaning up the place, tiring but very exciting. We will be moving in soon and hope it is a brand new life for us in our dream home. Things will get better and better, escape from the past and starting our new life under our little sweet roof and live happily ever after.
