  1. Hi all, Shall we start a "Linear Green Barter Trade". Coz there's stuffs from house-warming lying in the storeroom, and stuffs that you might wanting to buy... By way of barter trade or selling it away, can help to move things along.
  2. coz those guys had been sleeping on heaps of fat pay cheques, then suddenly something caught them by surprise.
  3. contractor has to do it for u. coz he's the one who will seek approval and arrange the "hacker" aka manpower to hack the wall. Unless u are the contractor himself.
  4. no such restriction. But hacking of wall will need to apply permit, so they'll have final say.
  5. at first I thot the floor is marble, then turns out to be cement screed... nice... wonder how they do until like white+grey mixture.
  6. nope, it'll look just like normal glass. For peace of mind, buy one with etched logo at the corner.
  7. Although top cabinet uses slightly less material coz it's recessed as compared to the bottm, but it still equates to the same amt of work to mfg the cabinets. So norm all contractors should be using Method 1.
  8. actually wrong. Tempered glass will shutter to small sharp pieces. Glass will never shutter to blunt pieces. If I drop a chopping knife (normal glass) and a tiny fruit knife (tempered glass) at same height onto you. which will more likely to kill you?
  9. PL comes with balast, will brighten immediately. Tend to be more expensive. E27 easier to change bulb, cheap, but takes a while to get to full brightness.
  10. Wood works only comes in AFTER the floor is done. So definitely below is parquet. Only worry is the parquet might be different colour from the outside, where the parquet is more seasoned, so u might find a lighter patch of colour inside. That will depend on how well the floor was taken care of, and also how old.
  11. i also kill any ants on sight. My house rarely had ants now. as compared to my inlaw's place, which is ants' heaven, she likes to leave food around, often overnight. Her aiming on the rubbish bag is terrible, super duper bobo-shooter. Now her house is renovating, temporarily staying at my house and she's transferring her bad habits over. Had to educate her on that. She's not happy of coz, but it's my house.
  12. hokay, I'll buy more of their stock.
  13. frosted = u wasted the window coz u can't even look out of it. tinted = higher cost, of coz will make your rm darker. and there are those which are clear and blocks alot of heat, but those are even more ex.
  14. sliding door is not suitable for all room types, especially new type small HDB, bi-fold or PD door is more suitable.
  15. looks like the bulk of the additional cost came from electrical works. well, it is partly your ignorance too. can't blame u thou... contractors usually use this tactic to bluff customer into signing with them instead of competitor. electrical works are counted by points example: even though 1 switch turns on 10lights at the same time (if u are engineer, u'll know actually they're connected in series), they'll still charge u the same as 10 switches turning on 10 lights. For lights, has a double cost: - pulling the wires to the site = 1st cost - installing the light for u = 2nd cost for more "organised" or "honest" contractor, they'll show u a list of how much they charge per point. if u're not happy with the cost, u can always take out that item, and ask someone else u know or engage another electrician to do the job for u.
  16. - trace where they coming from, insecticide at the source where u start to lose track of them. - no food/drink left outside, at least not overnight - clear your rubbish bins, which is the source of food
  17. ceramic tiles for toilet and kitchen is still fine, but for living and room is abit too old fashioned. 600x600 is the standard now. homo tiles are harder than ceramic. 800x800: - more ex than 600x600 psf - more difficult to lay, need more skills partly coz it's freaking heavy.
  18. it depends on several factors: 1) spacing bet downlights 2) big or small size downlights. big size can contain a bigger bulb. 3) frosted glass or clear glass. clear of coz brighter. 4) colour tone of the lamp, white or "cool yellow". white of coz brighter
  19. light coloured coat (e.g light pink, apple green) against a white base coat will normally appear pretty faint, u needed several coats to bring out the colour.
  20. nothing new actually. Expected. Only unexpected thing is the "Bedok Mall" doesn't have a cinema.
  21. they're not the only one selling building supplies in spore nor along that stretch of road. And not everyone goes to buy waterproofing stuffs...
  22. put shoes + cloth for wiping feet there. whoever wants then use loh. easy.
  23. a fan shop in jalan bersah told me they also offer installation with balancing if fan wobbles. $40.
