  1. hehe, 1st draft only la... colour scheme will be light - mid tones since we dont like dark woods.... also probably not putting tv in living room anymore since we do not want to break up the space in the living room. also have not taken into account practicalities...
  2. First cut layout from ID... We will probably be removing the TV in the living room.
  3. I got like 5 quotes none of them say leh.... got one say better change to fit into the overall theme but not due to the cement thing.
  4. Ya, its 1996 and only for particular brand of lamp. Just like forummers to be cautious cos these lamps are different from our "normal" lamps and the cheap ones might not be of good make. Then hand wet wet dont go and touch these lamps wor....
  5. be careful though.... some of these lamps if poorly made can be a fire hazard and/or a electrocution risk. http://www.spring.gov.sg/newsarchive/news/.../96_12_13b.html
  6. Supposedly better prices... sometimes, they will say they are making a loss from doing up your flat. However, you might need to open your house for pple to view....
  7. Confinement lady will stay at your home. Usually 28 days. She will also cook confinement food for the mummy and sometimes family. The amount you pay is just for the labour... you can visit the following site for your reference. http://www.blissconfinement.page.tl/ baby sitters have many different arrangements leh... some go to your home and look after, those will definately be more than $500. Some you need to drop off at their homes. Usually its 5 days a week, 7am - 7pm.
  8. ya, very nice... but then i think your bedroom already very romantic even without the mural.... For me, i can't even draw a straight line on a piece of paper... so this will be very challenging....
  9. Sorry sorry, dont mean to make you guys worried. The stuff I bought it those moveable ones... so hopefully the fixed accessories are of better quality.
  10. I also love green and love the green stripes! I dont think I will be as brave to do a green themed house though... Last time also painted my daughter's room with pink and green stripes .... also had the same problem of paint peeling off with masking tape... not sure how to do it properly...
  11. agree... bought the toothbrush holder, cutlery holder also rust after a while... but not sure if its 3 months or more...
  12. hehe... maybe i used to big spaces la... 3.6m - 0.4 from the walls I though TV might actually be too near. Glad to know its ok!
  13. wow...2k for hood expensive leh.. what is this I-Drop feature?
  14. Hey... nice place! I like your "marble" toilet... got the looks without the trouble maintaining. Also like your kitchen cabinets and top colour combi. Your curtains from Jimmy textiles? Can I also check since I have the same problem. The sofa to TV distance in living room is ~3.6m. Is that enough?
  15. Ya, renotalk motto: Generously Share, Shamelessly Kope, Tastefully Renovate! i'll let u know if i do a wall like yours.
  16. There is a risk though, if the seller backs out before completion, then all your reno will go to waste. HDB will not help you and you have to engage your own lawyers to fight the case while the contractor will still demand payment for work done.
  17. Hey caveman, very nice design. Love it. Planning to "kope" your idea on using a wall for the bathroom but see my bathroom got space or not... See from your layout and pictures that you are planning your cooking area in the previous service balcony... I was just browsing through HDB renovation guidelines and saw the following: Type of Building work: Extension of kitchen into the service balcony areas without the removal of walls Need Permit?: No Subject to the following Guidelines: Construction of cooking stove and/or cooking are not allowed in the original service balcony area. Not sure if it is an issue for you.
  18. Hey, very nice place. Especially like the lightings... a bit starry starry.... just like to check if its very hot to use halogen lights.... noticed that you not staying very high floor so is heat a problem?
  19. Living room and MBR confirm installing. Living room should be doing L Box. Our preference is not to do light kit cos got the dizzy effect.... but will take note of your advice. Hack by previous owner. Initially is outside the MBR. Current owner using the Study has a HUUUUUUUGE storeroom.... so wasted... anyway, ya, we need to build a storeroom somewhere... got baby got a lot of barang barang....
  20. Hi Ladyluck, some response above. The Gynae really depends on how popular the Gynae is. Those more expensive one can be really expensive while there are cheaper alternatives. Check out singaporemotherhood for recommendations. For the delivery, there are several charges that you did not include and it depends on several factors: 1) C-Section or Natural C-Section will need around 3 days stay while natural can be discharged after 2 days. Charges vary accordingly. Thomson package is around $2600 exclude drugs and medicine for C-section (3 days) single bed package. 2) Epidural Additional cost cost need another doctor to administer. ($500) 3) Your Gynae delivery charges Around $3000 and can really go up depending on how popular the gynae is. Of the hospital and gynae charges, around $3000 can come from medisave. 4) PD charges Around $400 depending on PD you engage. 5) Babycare charges Note the hospital charges previously mentioned are for mum. The baby has another set of charges around $500 - $1000 for medical supplies, accommodation, babycare service, UV light etc. This is assuming your baby does not need to be warded into ICU which is extremely expensive. I think thats about it until delivery. Post delivery you have to think about confinement nanny ($2000) for 1 month, breast pump sets, etc. Quite scary when you think about it!!
  21. hey... ya la, kitchen aisle a bit congestion in the ID layout... thats why scratch head. I dont like the ID living room layout as i think the feature wall breaks up the space. If install TV towards MBR hor, then very far from sofa to TV... around 7m... then i need 50+" TV....
  22. Angel - Thanks! First layout plan is what we are thinking about (not sure whether practical). Second Layout plan.... a proposal from ID...
