  1. Hi all, it's me again. No, I'm not moving house. Im just helping my bro and a good friend in starting a brief combined t-blogs for their own respective upcoming renos. Currently, both of them still are sourcing for their own IDs /contractors, and working on their space planning and layout. As i know there are many reno enthusiasts out there in this forum, i welcome ideas from you guys in helping to suggest ideas for their floor planning and layout too. [CCK - 4-room] Living beings for this unit will be my bro, wife, 2 kids (below 8yrs old) and 1 maid. [bishan - EM] Living beings for this unit will be my friend, hubby, 2 kids (below 9yrs old) and 1 maid. PS: As these are not my own house reno, I will only occasionally post the reno pics if I have the chance. Or maybe along the way, the house owners will be interested in taking over this thread. =) So, here we go again... let's enjoy the journey!
  2. yo neubie. good to hear from u again.. the bank that i am working for has a staff home loan rate which is 3mth sibor + 0.25%. it's lower than the hdb rate by a lot. this tempted me.
  3. i have a noob question. can i switch my hdb loan to bank loan now?
  4. congrats to SDS for your shop expansion! thanks for the invite and great hospitality!
  5. yo.. how is ur reno progress?

  6. congrats! which ID firm /contractor is doing your project? very nice 3d drawings too. by the way, we have similar layout. fyi, your 3d drawing vs. the actual layout for the living room and MBR can be quite different. i didnt see any bathrooms drawings. if u doing a shower screen inside, amke sure the sink that you bought cannot be too big. =)
  7. as i look at my monthly hdb cpf payment, more than 55% of this amount goes to the interest incurred. this feeling sucks. how i wish they can abolish interest charges for singaporeans (true blue ones born here, studied here, served ns, work here, pay tax here, started a family here and etc) when buying our first public housing. i am day dreaming....
  8. how come 3 years olny? most IDs (like mine) give 5 years. Anyway, u may want to expand your ID search. Mine personally is ok. U can call in their office and look for him if u want. good luck!
  9. i received my previous malay owner's son poll card as well. he didnt collect from me, so i bo chap. worse still, i even had credit company representatives for his insurance and telco bills knocking my door looking for him for late /no payment. i have already told the father (owner) 3 times . he apologised but no actions taken. i dunno what to do also...
  10. my bad. i am referring to jellicoe and klang lane. yea, if u buying to stay there, be sure to visit the block downstairs and nearby during weekends evening... i wanted a place that is centralised, yet reserve a bit of quietness and peace. eventually i bought sims drive. though sim ave and geyland lor outside is super crowded with foreigners and cars, those people dun walk so far into my housing estate. maybe there's no coffee shops ard my place here...
  11. i have a personal advice for you. if possible, take drive down to that hdb estate during friday and saturday night... the last time when i went there, i was shocked with what i had seen... foreign workers are flocking everywhere ard the hdb estate. the same goes for Klang road when i wanted to buy it last year. fortunately we went down on a friday night to see the environment. omgzz, the entire road to the hdb mutli storey carpark was crowded with foreign workers. to me, it doesnt look safe for kids and my wife to stay in the long run...
  12. y not? u r the pay master. and u better choose a id u r comfortable with. if not, u will be regretting when the reno journey started. =)
  13. Quoted from Channelnewsasia, 27 April 2011 Mr Lee said: "(Mr Low) wants to win a GRC. I don't doubt he is entitled to want to win a GRC and he is trying to make an argument that sounds good (so that) people want to vote for him to win a GRC. "But what we would like to tell Singaporeans (is), when you vote, think carefully because it affects your property value, it affects your neighbourhood, it affects your country, it affects your future. "If you have the right town council looking after your neighbourhood, it will prosper. I think (in) Aljunied, you see what Cynthia Phua, the town council chairman, has done and you will know it is not something that has happened automatically. "On the other hand, (if the) town council doesn't look after your estate, many things can go wrong....
  14. was it this lady called Kon Xin Hua pm u abt this interview? i received a pm from her. dunno zhun or not.. but my house so normal leh, compared to urs and many others. haha.. nothing impressive de...
  15. mine total 21 double points... remember to ask him throw in remote switch for mbr and living (if you want) lighting. mine also included cat6 data point (for 3 bedrooms and 1 living room). maybe tt's why more expensive... but of course compare with other quotes, it is d.a.r.n. cheap... pluhs his good work and svc. =)
  16. slowly, the younger generation (working adults) with higher education and also net savvy are joining the eligible voters group. this group of people (myself) have seen and heard stories from 2 different angles, unlike our parent's time when media is the only source (which is of course a controlled medium). although i am not confident that the oppositions will make any significant win in this coming election, perhaps in the next and subsequent ones, the opposition voice will be stronger... and i am definitely looking forward to that day.
  17. George Yeo: ""Even those who are anti-PAP, who are critical, when they travel they feel so proud of being Singaporeans... When they come home, the moment they get the SIA boarding pass, there's a flutter in their hearts...yes, I'm on my way home." I am proud to be a singaporean. It doesn't mean that i am proud of your PAP. It's dangerous that he actually associated our country, Singapore = PAP.
  18. wanted to buy honda jazz back then in 2009. hesitated over the pricy tag of $57k for the 1.3L model. but now even worse! haha.. more than 70k liao... no choice but to stick on with my 2nd hand 4 years old latio...
  19. "Decided to "activate" my inheritance funds from both sides of our parents"... waaa, good for you... but not everyone as lucky as you to have such fund to activate. =) my opinion is that buying hdb (whether resale or new flats) are not difficult for local grads if combined monthly household income >6k. most of the time we wont need to fork out any cash component after CPF deduction, unless you aggressive and go those atas units like DBSS or EC. but the real problem which i myself face is that if we wanna buy condo or even landed, it will be a relatively far-fetch dream unless one of the following situations (IMHO) occurs: (1) parent sold their property/ies and use the proceeds to share with you to buy a bigger house like condo or landed; and (2) combined monthly income rises gradually and accumulated saving also inceases from bonuses, then u sell away your HDB to buy pte. of course there are many other more "extreme" scenarios like strike TOTO/4D, rich parents who pay one time 100% for the property (e.g. students from china & indonesia) or marry rich like TPL and become a MP.
  20. i managed to get the additional grant staying with /near parents last year when i purhcased my resale unit. the hdb officer will access case by case basis. not that rigid one. we simply showed the hdb officer the divorce letter of my parents and the whole transaction was processed as per normal procedures. go the myHDBpage and login your singpass. under the resale /new flat section, u can view the officer-in-charge for your pending hdb transaction. call him /her up to inform them about your case. he /she will then direct the message to the hdb officer during the first & second appointments.
  21. congrats! u r near to the finishing line. i like your dining area lighting arrangement. will definitely copy you if i have the chance. hehe. your wardrobe in common bedroom is purhcase one right? not carpentry built one right? waaa,, i saw ur kitchen got 2 sets of bamboo hangers.. u so many clothes to dry ah? kekekee.. your kitchen cabinets, bathrooms and bedroom doors all very modern and nice... good choices that you have made there! your window glass also very good looking like frosted glass. which tinted colour is that? how come i didnt see it from Alex's cateloge ah? i used light brown... boring colour.. when is curtain coming in? u managed to contact Alvis from Malaysia, JB?
  22. from reading this blog, personally i will siam this contractor /id farrrrrrrrr farrrrrrrrrr awaaaaayyyy... why wanna spend 30k over to torture yourself over the reno process? i believe that there are better recommended contractors /ids out there in this forum bah...
  23. dun be dishearted with the current salary or etc. so long you have the drive for upward motivation, nothing can stop you except yourself. tell urself that this is only the temporary chapter in life that you are going thru, something better is coming your way... remember this. positive thinking -> postive energy -> positive outcome this is the secret why 99% of the world's wealth is controlled by only 1% of the population. because these 1% people know the secret formula. -grin- Well, i have told you the secret. it's all depend how you wanna to apply it. =)
