more importantly is the ID is contactable and rectify the problems identified within the shortest period since reno cannot be 100% perfect. Even if the ID is the main con, do not depend everything on them, do your own check too. it will be easier to rectify if spotted early. e.g. if they paint the walls with wrong colour, at least can stop them on time. but also, do own homework or check with relevant authority. some ID will try to "scare" you with certain rules and regulations.

It is no wonder that people prefer to buy own paint and diy folks, do check your paint since there are various series and chances of them using lousy paint and mix are very high

woow, just saw your 3d design and its nice! your carpentry makes up quite a fair bulk of the whole reno especially the platform bed in your MBR how much you spend on the feature wall in your MBR? did you come up with all the design yourself? not much changes from the inital 3d to final 3d. if all designs proposed by your id, that is not bad in her design aspect

Have not heard of 3Q designer Nope, even if ID is ok, workmanship is uncertain. Bear in mind, ID at the most is project supervisor managing the coordination and give advices. Work wise is determined by worker who are the actual group doing up your house. View some homes done by them to have a gauge of their workmanship. And it is up to individuals too. Everyone has different expectations. Good luck in your search!

can't comment much on ideal design workmanship. But have met up with one of the IDs, johnson and it is disastrous. first of all you must be comfortable with the id, if not the whole reno will be a nightmare to start with. most importantly is to do your own homework, get as many quotes as possible. get a precise quote from the final shortlisted company, as detail as possible on material used. they like to play with words which is a lesson i learnt from my reno

There is also no divider in my kitchen guess nowadays people seldom cook And ohh.. my plastering costs over $2k (plus sealer). Electrician will definitely help to do some touch up after rewiring, but the effect will not as good as the plastering contractor since they are not specialised in doing plastering in the first place. As my contractor refuses to get his plasterer to do any touch up (just in case there is defects after rewiring is done), this reflects very badly on his service.

edenstrauss, your experience with them sounded very bad. Now ID = Contractor. Price about the same. And ID does not necessary has creative design ideas. Still have to crack our own brain or show pictures to them. Unless ID firm like Intradesign can really design if you are looking for great ideas, but of cos it comes with a price. In reno industry, no ID/Contractor is that perfect good and can be so highly raved about.

Just to share. Everyone has different experience even with the same ID. Do hold before engaging their service or meeting up. I will update more in feb for fair judgement, currently not strongly recommended like what some people raved about the ID, overall still passable Do note there are referral fees earned for any new signed-up. I will not refer if they are not recommended, but if they are still acceptable in overall, i wont mind in sharing if anyone needs.

There is one ID who mentioned to us that you can't see when the light is off The ceiling is so obvious unsightly with the cove light What rubbish response right? i shall not name the ID here first in case being slam for badmouthing...

Need all of your expertise here. What are the things we have to look out for in rewiring and hidden cost involved? What is the purpose of PUB testing? Does it mean an electrician without EMA cert cannot apply for PUB test? What is the purpose of earth bonding? And how do we define as good or bad The prices ranges are too wide. Why are some electricians charging rocket sky prices when rewiring is a standard job. ps for asking so much questions.

Wat are the things we have to look out for in rewiring? Wat are the hidden cost? Is a certified electrician a must? The prices vary too much. Eg. Person A can charge $40 for tel point and Person B charges $90. The price gap is crazy

Hi faithz17, in fact waited the next whole day for him to return call but he failed to do so as wat he promised us too that he will always return any missed call. thats why disappointed with the service. don't you get the logic that poor svc spread faster? It is not wrong to share here that i have spoken to an ID from this company but have not receive any quotation after weeks if you consider this as "badmouthing". And same thing, the admin will bar those who are apparantly self-promoting here as mentioned, it's objective and personal experience. A company cannot satisfied each and everyone and all shared different views. Yes, u indicate that all your friends including yourself are satisfied with ideal house, i feel glad for you. You can give them excellent comment but that does not mean that other people must be as satisfied as you. Kenneth did shared that he will focus more on the other house and despite that we still decide to sign up with him a few days after the meeting. Just that he did not return our call.
