  1. Yo, saw something that might be of interest to you guys.. Check it out.. Link..
  2. Hmm.. Solid surface for a busy kitchen.. Make sure you have coasters around to place your hot pots and stuff! Heard many horror stories of discoloration of S/S tops due to heat.. Btw, a big "Hi!" from us also at JW.. Haha..
  3. TVs, you need to decide on what you need.. Full HD? 3D? Smart TV? Wireless connectivity? Connect to computer/internet? A lot of factors, so decide on what you want and pay for what you desire. Do not end up paying more for features you do not need. Price range wise you'll see a huge range.. Its exactly for that same reason, old models have less features and new models have more. Decide on your budget, how much you would be willing to pay for a TV that was made to have a shelf life of maybe 6 yrs or so. These TVs are not like CRTs of old which can last 10+ yrs..
  4. Good luck with your reno! Having chemistry with your ID is infinitely the most important factor for a smooth reno journey.. With chemistry there is give and take, can "charm siong".. There won't be evil "saboh" attempts..
  5. Hahaa.. Thanks.. We're moving the maomao over on Saturday evening, fingers crossed! Hehee, we will! Posting a couple of pics here now.. Still not complete but just want to show what just came in today.. Our Indo furniture arrived at loooong last! Carved antique sofa and suar wood coffee table.. The sofa can sit up to 4 people.. Restored antique tv console from a shop in Chinatown.. But wifey doesn't like bathtub.. So no bathtub for us.. Toilet small still can one.. Do it!
  6. Hellos! YES! Moved in last Saturday even though house isn't ready yet. Been living without any kitchen nor hallway lights.. House is strewn with cardboard boxes and plastic bags but we're on the verge of conquering the mess Replacement lights will be up tomorrow! Our furniture from Indonesia will be here on Wednesday.. Once everything's up and unpacked, we'll bring the little maomao over.. Wifey hasn't seen maomao in a week and misses her terribly.. Hahaa.. The brand is Carysil or something like that, hahaa.. Its made in India, not bad.. Nothing to envy about the MBR toilet la, its so small and achievable by anyone living in a HDB flat.. Hahaa.. I want a tub..
  7. Hahahaa.. We have yet to try brushing each others teeth.. Will give it a try someday The black kitchen is ok la but the floor tiles do trap dirt, need to be cleaned often.. Heng we no OCD.. Else sure peng..
  8. Wifey likes the idea of a tiger skin rug adn thinks a stuffed peacock sounds really exciting.. She actually also likes the idea of zebra print tiles, random giraffes, etc.. Hahaa.. Actually we bought striped curtains for the living room, in the spirit of the safari look.. hahaa.. its striped orange, green, brown and velvety.. Hehee.. Don't know how it'll turn out.. Heh, the kitchen would be a bit dusty.. But thats because of our wall tiles which are textured and will collect some dust.. Otherwise, our dust is kinda dark, not the grey kind.. so can't see on the kitchen top and cabinet.. The queen of the house really likes the mirror.. But she still feels we could've bought a bigger one.. hahaa.. Thank you insane The long basin we got because it has a food prep area, keep the wet areas within the sink area lor.. Its actually quite a cheap sink, less than 400, granite and made in India.. Hahaa..
  9. Hahaa.. I can help hack too.. But I have so much pent up anger that I might just break a few walls and hack off many things I'm not supposed to hack.. So angry at so many things.. Hahaa.. I don't even dare to hack my own house..
  10. Wow! You can paint so well! Why not just make a living out of this?
  11. Wah.. Good luck to you, wish you a smooth and happy renovation.. Next Monday might be the day I'm handed back my flat and would conclude my first reno journey.. Good luck again!
  12. Small update of a purchase, wifey likes it a lot.. All you ladies should be all too familiar with shopping for clothes.. You know when you try on clothes and they have this nice huge mirror to make you look even nicer in? Wifey loves big mirrors and we got a decent sized one.. This is the 1.9m tall mirror we got.. Still wrapped up.. Close up of the wooden frame under the plastic wrap..
  13. Thank u.. Its a rather simple and very small bathroom.. Hope to add more life to it soon..
  14. Weirdly enough I saw things in Poh Joo that were almost 30-40% Higher than in Royal Fanco.. With your experience, I suppose they don't give the best price to everyone but rather price their wares according to the day and their moods.. Who knows.. I bought quite a lot of stuff from them, they were quite helpful with information and insider knowledge of wares.. But I suppose its also because I did my homework that I was able to get good prices from them, in the end I told them what prices other shops were offering and they counter-offered a lower price. In one case, I even managed to weasel an almost $100 discount off a $450 item in another shop because I told them RF could offer me a good price.. Learnt a lot about bargaining, body language and tone of speech during my time shopping along Balestier and Jalan Besar.. Great experience!
  15. Ahh.. Having a balcony is nice, wish I had one.. Envious of you guys with a balcony..
  16. You and your wife can leave messages for each other daily before or after work or something like that, its a sweet gesture and helps to start everyday on a good note..
  17. I was also tilting my head sideways.. But wah.. Seriously trying to carrot head people.. I quite free now, I hack your living/dining/balcony for half price 750 can? Will take a long time though..
  18. Hello fellow JWer.. Saw your pic regarding opennet installation. Just thought I should share this. When they installed it at my current place, they somehow managed to screw up my TV and cable. Apparently, they used the same trunking for their cables as the old SCV one and yanked the old SCV cables which broke somewhere along the way. I had to buy a 12m cable and redo the SCV cabling myself after that. So.. Maybe you should test your SCV points before you move in.. Don't move in to find out that its faulty.. Touch wood though.
  19. Nice DIY lights! I had ambitions to make a wooden chandelier but never got around to doing it..
  20. Hahaa.. The fishes inside will eat up your jellyfish even before they collapse from the fresh water.. Look at the nips on one of those siamese tiger's tail fin.. Nice tank, a good size to keep fish in.. More pics! Maomaos too!
  21. Hehe.. Mine is 62X series.. Also top floor.. Think Shumin is also 64X series.. A lot of JWers here..
  22. Lightening the wood tone sounds like a good idea for the kind of look you guys are after.. The laminates for the cabinets, maybe not so glossy? Somehow not as charming when its glossy.. The larder, I would've suggested shelving for many nice old jars.. Doesn't seem to go.. Hehe.. I like old glass jars.. A blackboard is always nice, take note of residual chalk dust in the cooking area though.. Have fun!
  23. We bought too early.. When there was only white..
  24. Hahaa.. Thanks.. All pictures in this thread were taken with my handphone's 5 megapixel camera set at 1mp for ease of transfer and uploading.. After reno, no $ to buy power camera..
  25. Thank u thank u.. We plan to bath the maomao in the mbr bathroom, with the showerscreen closed.. Bahahaa.. Wifey will enjoy the circus show of her being bathed.. Funny.. The kitchen is just plain and black la.. Nothing special.. We won't cook a lot.. Once in a while maybe some grill, pasta or pizza.. Wifey needs to learn from the moms how to cook nice soups.. Just went to check out your floorplan.. There IS space! My MBR bathroom is a mere 1700mm wide.. The long basin is only 1040mm, more than enough space in your MBR bathroom to have something like that.. You need to decide what you want and get the ID to make it happen.. Its you who's gonna be staying there for the next duno how many years.. Not them.. Sometimes, what they recommend might not be the best or optimal choice.. But the easier way out or the path with less risk.. Its like going to a restaurant.. You think they'll have the best dishes or the toughest items to cook on their set menu? No la.. You have the right to decide and you must fight!
