The additional locks certainly make it more difficult to intruders to break in as compared to the stock grilles and window locks.

He doesn't seem very professional. Are you serious when you said you called for the police? What did the police do? I recall a similiar encounter a year ago. This person (Tall, slim and lengthy man in his mid forties) said he had observed my newly renovated place and had wanted to tell me that my corridor windows can easily be opened within a minute. Like you, he pushed open my sliding window and lifted my new window grilles..... really shocking and made me really embarrassed. He manged to convinced me to install the lockset for all my corridor windows and grilles, assuring me that once installed, all would be safe. I remembered paying him about $350 for all. I secretly took a photograph of him while he was installing, in case he tried to be funny.... all turned out to be alright. I don't think it is a scam. He is only trying to earn some $$$ from his professional service.

Thanks for reading my tblog. You may want to start one too as you journey thru' this renovation. You will be amazed the useful comments and help rendered by forumers. I am sure you and your htb can work within the budget constraints. Hacking, Tiling, piping and electrical are key features . Don't be too carried away by furnitures and accessories. Happy reno -
I like your carpentry work. It looks great! How is the workmanship? Did you have to spend a lot on this country style theme?

Congrats on your moving in! Bear with the hiccups a little....enjoy your new place. Cheers!

5rm maisonette? Maybe a little smaller but layout is still about the same. Do u intend to convert the wash area to a bathroom cum toilet? Do you intend to overhaul the whole place? I still remember this headache when I first start my reno....how I wish I wasn't limitedby my shallow pocket.....Now I have to think of phase 2....hiaz.... -

Car Parking Space In Ec And Pte Condos
potatoes replied to Cnocturnum's topic in Housing Rules, Policies and Procedures
I used to stay in a private condo and have to put up the frustration for the lack of carpark lot when I return home late. In that condo that I lived, residents can park 1st car near to the condo blk but 2nd or 3rd car must park at unpopular carpark lots further away. There is no fair system. I don't use the facilities like the gym or tennis courts or book the function rooms but still need to pay for them. So I think the residents dont see the carpark as a problem as it is part of the facilities offered by the condo to the residents. Thus we cant compare with HDB. -
Btw, where is your EM? U managed to get ID company to do up your place?

Adidaem, appreciate u sharing the pics of what the ' penthouse' or 'loft' in Sin Ming Ave look like. I was there to view a unit and find it very unique. I like the high ceiling in the living area, giving it a spacious effect. If not for the high COV at that point of time, I would have signed on the dotted line. -

Nice layout.... I like the big service yard n can actually link to your balcony if u hack the wall separting them. Bedroom 2 has a big space for wiw. I remember this layout in one of my viewings...many people extend their living into the balcony since the void area is in the service yard. Kitchen seems a little small. It may be good to have the toilet entrance located at the service yard in order to maximise kitchen space. Many EM owners complain about store under stairs as petite. ...at least u have a decent storeroom. All the best to your reno. -

Price of EM in woodlands is reasonable.....I almost settled for an EM in Woodlands Ring.....but too far from my kids school. -
Fyi, my recess area doc from hdb to legal firm took close to 2yrs to settle. Only last week I then received the official doc. I dont understand how hdb works......

Hi NSW,I m very impressed with ur 2D n 3D drawings. Great idea to relocate the MBR.....provided u consider not having the need to have addition room in future. Not quite possible for open kichen concept.
