  1. Heheh..my wardrobe is going to look like a little like yours; reverse colours...walnut, frosted, walnut,...can hardly wait. :sporty:
  2. Agreed...it's too early to rule anyone out; but if you're happy with the price and contractor, please request to view his work and speak with the homeowners if possible ('cos need to know whether his quotation is reliable, whether he met his estimated schedule, whether he rectifies errors happily, etc.).
  3. Great deal you got there...am surprised you got such a big fridge at $650...was busy jotting down the details Is the LG washer 6.5kg or 7 kg?
  4. Think the Nippon Odourless 3 in 1 is supposed to be safe, but I'm pretty risk averse and would prefer not to risk it. Just one or two days...take a break and relax!
  5. I have a similar pelmet done to cover the aircon trunking... am really pleased with it, too
  6. Yahoo or ebay, huh? Thanks! So interesting to find someone into chinese furniture ...I used to like Chinesey stuff, had the 2 2ft Chinese vase lamps for my wedding...but taste changed, now I prefer simple, contemporary furniture...even the naytoh dining set that we bought now seems a bit too country. Hi, got all my window alumimium catches at Kin Siang Hardware store, Blk 30, Kelantan Road, #01-99, $3.70 per piece with lock. The sliding door catches are $10 or $11 per piece. Dunno if they are the cheapest but they are at least cheaper than the contractor's. Hubby says he'll change himself...if he fails, we'll get the contractor in at $40 for labour costs.
  7. I'm glad that it's all settled...good for you! Sometimes, sixth sense are so funny... we bought our hdb EM (the first hdb flat we viewed) immediately after viewing a second EM. It felt good, like home...hubby agreed 'cos I was so excited...later, when I checked the fengshui I found out the main door facing is best for me... But, am a little worried 'cos I think main door facing should be best for the man of the house, not the lady...hopefully, it's okay.
  8. Thanks! All tiles are from Sim Boon Huat, Jurong East (near IMM). MBR bathroom wall tiles (Creta Capuccino, marble effect, 33.3 x 45), Spanish origin, $3 psf before GST. MBR bathroom floor tiles (HTL03, running tone & pattern, 30x30), $2.80ppc.
  9. Applefreak, have you tried my contractor, Mr. Lim? Think his kitchen price is reasonable and worth it. No harm getting another quotation and no hacking permit fee!
  10. Thanks! I think it looks spacious because of the frameless, kerbless glass shower screen. Looks like there are just a W.C. and a basin cabinet inside. Just left painting, wardrobes, cleaning, moving.. Thanks! Targetted move-in next Thursday. Any lobang for nice 2nd hand furniture in good condition? Electricals better not buy 2nd hand, no warranty. $$$, we squeezed and squeezed until we're blue.
  11. Your place is nice, Joyz. Like your mirrored shoe cabinet. The kitchen's quite striking too. The brown contrasts with the solid white surface.
  12. It's your flat...you must weigh the costs and benefits carefully. Depends on you, whether you are willing to give the contractor a second chance and believe in his word or whether you prefer to just terminate and start over with someone else with a more trustworthy record.
  13. Well, best wishes to you for the rest of your reno.!
  14. Since the trust is lost and relations are so difficult now...dunno whether it is better to cut your losses and get another contractor?
  15. Better not for you to be there, Lynzi...some paints have fumes which maybe unhealthy for the baby.
  16. Oh dear...good thing you settled the paint issue. So, you'll buy the paints and the contractor provide the labour? I've opted for Self-fix to paint my flat in the end; expensive but dare not trust the low price ones 'cos don't see how they can make any money without mixing paint. Don't feel bad about the cement floor. IMHO, think that it's really hyped up. In the old days, houses and flats came in cement floors and people put linoleum over them and change them to ceramic when they can afford them. All hdb flats have cement floor in the void decks...so you can enjoy the cement floor when you come down for a walk, markan, or grocery shopping.
  17. Thanks, everyone. Reno. finished and contractor cleared out yonks ago...now waiting for Self-fix to come in on Friday and paint the whole place up with Nippon waterbased sealer and Nippon Odourless 3 in 1 Chalk. They'll also help me paint the damaged brick wall. Mace, aren't you bringing over your old stuff? $20k, huh? Mine was also thereabout, but when the reno. starts...you have to add and add...or else the place just look half done . E.g. we wanted to reuse the electricals and doors but after the reno., they look really out of place next to the spanking new tiles...luckily, the contractor took pity on me and gave me a very good price for the doors. Love the doors he did up. Same for the electricals....in the end have to change all the switches... Probably thanks to the town council cleaners who cleared the furniture leftover for us, we have to revarnish the main door. Thanks to the air-con guys, we have to repaint the whole flat. Thanks to all the beautiful wardrobe pictures at renotalk, we opted for nice wardrobes... Reno. costs climb higher and higher like the rental market...
  18. contractor said cannot do anymore 'cos trunking already put over the cardboard.
  19. The light looks quite nice...I'm using the living room light the sellers left behind too.
  20. Like your kitchen colour combination...white and orange, cheery and bright, like Odie's! Supposed to be good for whetting the appetite in kitchen . Like the sample door, too. Looks like my kitchen door .
  21. Wah, sound like farewell talk... Heheh...my turn soon! Why don't you move in after the LUP is done? Less upsetting.
  22. Thanks! Oh..lucky you to have such a capable mum!
