Waaaa.. this is an interesting post. 4.2k for a 3.5m sofa is indeed value for money, as long as you are happy with it. As for genuine cowhide, definitely it wont peel. Only Pu leather will peel. If have the guts to test if it is PU leather, try scratching it hard with ur fingernails repeatedly, you can feel if it will flake.
-
ehhhhhhh.... just remember. When you buy sofa / dining chair, do check if it is PU leather. if it is, don bother to buy. The lifespan of PU leather is around 9-18 months from the Date of manufacturing. After which, it will flake

may i ask, 98/ft is from who ? thats very reasonable

@ Tiler Seng, this is normal. Normally for my case, i will reserve my rights to collect the payment according to contract before completing the next stage of work. CUSTOMERS ARE NOT ALWAYS RIGHT

Can I File A Case With Small Claim Tribunal?
DavidSee611 replied to lyz77's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
Yes it is bad workmanship. If you proceed to SCT, you may file claims for work left undone, or work left undone to a satisfactory level. So what you may get? Partial Refund or the contractor's commitment to complete the repair within a reasonable timeframe. However, to get a new contractor to do this, may result in two scenario: 1) same problem again 2) A jack up price to repair. 3) Work done to your satisfaction. Conclusion? Your whole job will get delay. So measure time against money and see if this work is minimally acceptable, if so then ask for discount from them. Problem solved -
Sales Talk? lol. U call to those direct from fty. They will let you know if this is appropriate or reasonable. Try this, sgkitchentop.com

Rejected From Banks For Reno Loan
DavidSee611 replied to cremelectric's topic in Finance and Insurance
Would not say is impossible to get loan. Credit rating will be re advised after 3 years from the date of full settlement of your debt. During the period, try to apply for credit card and pay promptly to build up ur credit rating. After which , banks will be able to assess ur rating to a positive note -
Ya, I was just looking at ur kitchen cabinet quote and solid surface top, it is god like cheap. Lol. Way below market price

Need A Carpenter/contractor To Replace Kitchen Platform
DavidSee611 replied to cheshirecat's topic in Carpentry Works
u can call marc 90699052. Kitchen platform specialist. See if you can get a better pricing. If need, mention me from renotalk. -
If you happen to select a sofa set which the seat or back cushion is not stitch on, you can unzip it and see the backing of the leather. Genuine leather will have a furry feel but PU/PVC leather is more of a fabric backing. If the dealer is using this term call half leather/semi leather, which means what ever part u have contact on is geunine leather, namely the seat, back and armrest. Lastly, try pressing against the leather. If you happen to see wrinkles that are of irregular sizing and spacing, most prob it is genuine. If it does not have wrinkles or having beautiful sizing and spacing wrinkles, then most prob it is PU/PVC leather. Most importantly, if you are paying anything less than 1,300 for a 3+1 Seater, then confirm you are not getting a genuine leather set UNLESS IT IS ON AMAZING CLEARANCE Sales, which u got to be beware too.

And you are right, if you are a direct customer, they wont really bother with u too much unless you are asking for volume.

Like i say, there is a guy call marc doing kitchen top only in Singapore. He can get for you Caesarstone direct from the bukit batok hq. u can try sgkitchentop.com and look for him yeah
-
Yes and the reason why they are open during this period only is because they seldom will entertain direct customers
-
In terms of after service, rest assured. Got problems just call him.
-
Hi LeonHart, they will bring you to the official caesarstone samples if there is a need. They are actually a kitchen/counter top fabrication factory and it will be important for to know that you are letting a specialist to fabricate the top for you.
-
Don mind, i have one contact that specially do Kitchen/Counter tops only. He will know where to get this samples. Trust me, his pricing is amazing. www.sgkitchentop.com

Progressive payment is abit tricky. If your reno can easily cost over 50k, then it will be good to go into progressive payment discussion with ur ID. If not, you might end up being label as a calculative customer, which every supplier or service provider doesnt like. You see, IDs also wish to complete job on time and do a beautiful job and they will be more willing to do more for customers whom are understanding and yet, demanding. Understanding in the sense that you know good stuff comes with a price and demanding in the sense that you will tend to supervise on and off on every finishing in every completed process. Like that, even if there is a need to redo, it will only be a small job and no need to dismantle this and that. If the reno cost is not that high, try not to go to much into progressive payment, cause the ID will also worry about pre starting the next process just in case customer fail to pay up. Yeah

Normally an ID margin is around 20%. If the work is expected to take 2 months, then split into 2 will be good. So final amount will be like 10%. If not, you can try 15% too. Like that, they get paid for first month work, and the balance for second month. This will be reasonable for all.
