  1. Ya that's what we told ourselves. Other than 'drowning' ourselves with Sapporo, we plunged straight into retail therapy also heeheee We will continue to plan for our renovation journey!
  2. Hey hey we are very discipline folks.... May the force be with us AND we shall resist! Lol
  3. We have gotten 3 quotes and still waiting for 1 more. Alan (contractor) - highly recommended by fellow renotalkers. He seems open-minded especially our idea are pretty colorful. It helps that we enjoyed good chemistry with him. His 1st quote exceeded our budget by $10k but we didn't want to give up. We realized ideas do not come cheap so we toned down our dreams. Received his revised quote yesterday and it seems palatable. Going to meet him the 2nd time this weekend. Kevin (contractor) - also highly recommended by fellow renotalkers. Known for his creative ideas and all this while, not sure why, I kept envisioning a kindly old uncle. To my surprise, he is not old at all heehee. Good chemistry with him during our 1st meeting and we can see his creativity when we shared our ideas. We have been forewarned that Kevin's services do not come cheap and true enough, his quote is the highest (slightly lower than $50k). We have no idea what to cut from his quote; basically averagely he is charging approx 10-20% per item. In-Lookz (ID) - the 1st ID we met and we decided to contact her as she has done a similar-themed 3 roomer recently. Pleasant meeting though she shook her head a couple of times when we shared our ideas. Nonetheless, she took the initiative and helped us check if we can shift a wall. Her quote wasn't too bad but the chemistry with her is not as good as what we felt with the first 2 guys. Jessica (ID) - recommended by our property agent and she did his place recently (looks good from the photos). She seems nice & open-minded and it was a good time sharing our ideas with her. She also makes some suggestions to fine-tune our ideas which are good! Waiting for her quote as we met 2 days ago only.
  4. To 'dissolve' our frustration, we turn to our favorite friend: Our favorite friend by Makanology, on Flickr We plunged in with our study of 3 quotes - 2 from popular Renotalk contractors & 1 from ID
  5. We were upset today... We thought we have been super lucky and have found an original resale unit with a nice & sincere seller. COV asked was very reasonable and the surroundings very good. We said too soon. Today the seller contacted our agent. He wants to back out from the deal, just 1 week after our 1st appointment. His reason: he feels he deserves more COV after he heard his neighbour's unit being sold for more. So much of singing his praises to all our friends! Naturally we said no. The deal is signed in b/w and there is no turning back. We will not back down!
  6. My Mr E says if you are going for family-oriented games that kids will play, go for Wii. If you are looking at action, all those 'ping ping bang bang' games, first-person shooting ones, then Kinect!
  7. Hi there, would you be able to share with us the catalog for 3 or 4 blades fan with light kits & remote control? looking at a 46-48" fan for the living room and smaller ones (2 units) for the bedrooms. TIA!
  8. Oops I must be the worst girl on the forum cos I don't know how to blow dry hair? Well if to do it in an 'anyhow' manner, ok lah and probably will need practice else I will take a freaking long time! But to blow dry a small dog, ok this I know how to
  9. Tofu tiles? Haha is that what they are really called? Oh us, tofu about the same size, right? I am learning new stuff from you daily... Yesterday Samsung solid top, today tofu tiles
  10. I think usually they are not tiled but I assume you are referring to kitchen cabinets? If yes, a base is built for these cabinets. Only the area between the top hung and bottom cabinets are tiled or added with some form of a backsplash.
  11. Yes I think this is the one we saw but we didn't get to test the sound though... Got distracted by the Bosch fridges nearby heehee and then the SMEG
  12. @summersan Did you see the retro Yamaha iPhone dock @ Courts Tampines? Alas you bought your Philips or else you can consider the Yamaha. Would look great with your SMEG
  13. These 10x10 shouldn't be that ex right? Anyways we have decided to lay our peranakan tiles this way as Mr E says this is the real authentic way (sounds like Simon says...) So our bathrooms will not have so many prints now...
  14. Haha usually we are the most disciplined when we have friends coming over. So organise more parties and then discipline will naturally set in Lol
  15. Alamak the tissue looks like **** notes hahaha
  16. Oh get a matching red toaster like those from Kenwood & a red Kitchen Aid! Then against the white, we see bursts of red!
  17. Today backside itchy, we went to Hafary. More or less, we shortlisted what we need & the salesperson there, Randall is a really patient chap! Also knows his stuff well so there is minimal waste of time. Strange thing is Hafary doesn't sell this simple 100x100 white ceramic tile at all! Isn't this a basic tile? 100x100 white ceramic tiles by Makanology, on Flickr
  18. If it is a lighter or different shade of wood laminate, then I think it is ok? Cos if the island has white base & white surface top, would it be too white? Unless you 'break' the whiteness with accessories at the base with hand towel racks etc?
  19. Found our favorite pair of legs Ranleigh sewing machine legs by Makanology, on Flickr We are going to 'zng' it... Now have to look for the hip & torso LOL
  20. Wow, Is the toilet printed or is it a printed cover over it?

  23. If based on what bleucheeze said, I think many of us have not seen our title deeds before until many, many years later. Unless we can pay up for our house in one shot LOL
