Ya, the sand is very expensive. Premixed mortar or even tile adhesive would not have cost so much. At least you don't need to add sand and the proportion is correctly mixed in factory.
-
Doors are not easy to install by yourself. You done it before? You will sand and varnish the bedroom doors too?

Where To Buy Coloured Grout?
BH72 replied to graphiteink's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
You can try below. They sell in bag of 25kg. Normally grout is very cheap unless you go for the good one, Mapei. KAI LIM BUILDERS MERCHANTS (changi) Buildmate (Eunos, Jurong) -
I think the paint is Dulux Super Maxilite (same range as Nipon Matex). About $23 for 7 litres, $50 for 20 litres. Normally only used for ceiling. Your ID should at least use Dulux Pentalite (same range as Nippon Vinilex 5000).

Need Spalling Concrete Repair Recommendations
BH72 replied to brascal's topic in Home Maintenance & Repairs
Hi, If you stay in HDB, you can contact the HDB officer to come over for a look. Sometimes they will get their contractor to do for you FOC. Sometimes you pay 50%. Alternatively, you can contact the contractor directly but you need to pay the full amount of repair. http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10324p.nsf/w/HomeMaintSpallingConcrete -

I am not familiar with Dulux. Nippon:- Brilliant white is only for Nippon Easy Wash and Nippon Medifresh. Semi-glossy. Vinilex 5000 also has white. Code is 5048 if i remember correctly. Btw, Vinilex 5000 is matte. Anyway, they are also not in Nippon catalogue......but if you ask the Nippon paint reseller (like Siong Hua, estore), they will know.

Nippon Easywash and Medifresh have brilliant white. It is semi-glossy. Code for Medifresh is 5188 if i remember correctly.

My Anyhow Reno, Anyhow Theme But No Anyhow Budget Reno

I have not seen the wiring for a new BTO flat. If there are prelaid telephone cables to all rooms then technically it is possible. He just need to change the RJ11 faceplate which is used for analog phone to RJ45 faceplate that is used for data. Few short LAN patch cords to connect from ONT (provided by Internet Service Provider aka M1, Singtel for converting optical to electrical signal) to the converted LAN points. He won't change the prelaid cable, will be using those cable laid by HDB. So if your prelaid cable is CAT5, then your max speed is 100Mbps irregardless of your uplink. But this is already much better than WIFI's speed. You can get the guy to come over and check if your flat could do the conversion after you subscribe to fibre broadband. Remember to do speedtest to ensure you have good connection for all converted LAN points. -

Hi, If yours is new BTO, you could also consider converting all existing telephone points to data points. Don't have to ask your contractor to lay data cables. http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/garage-sales-18/services-fiber-telephone-point-lan-data-ethernet-point-conversion-services-4390951.html -

wifi extender can help to extend the coverage, but i think you need a power source (ac socket) for it. -
Pentalite is entry level but Odourless Easy Wash is the premium one. Oil based sealer (like Nippon 5170) is better and last longer. Only slightly more expensive than the water based one.

Using direct connection is more stable and faster. Depending on the design of your flat and placement of your AP (WIFI router), you may not be able to receive signal or even weak signal in certain area in your flat. If the place that you will be using your laptop is line of sight to the Wifi router and no blockage in between, then should be ok. -

Hi, I think you should ask him to put a socket. From RJ45 socket to router or switch/hub, it is just normal network cable (CAT5, CAT6 etc) you can buy anywhere. just my 2cts
