Hi Bro, Must have save a lot from all the DIY Well done Looks professional.

Hi, I presume your bedrooms are lower than the living room. Why need to hack off old cement screed? unless your bedroom is higher than the tile flooring in living. So the amount including hacking of 432sqft of old cement. That alone will cost few hundreds. But 2K is still a lot. Once you get your own contractor to do the screed, if the floor is not level after HERF installation, your contractor may push the problem to the screed, eg. too high or too low. I'll send you some contacts later.

Hi, What's the thickness of your screed? Why can't you use normal screed? Self leveling screed should be use to level out the unevenness after normal screed. Few mm should be sufficient I think. If laying laminate or parquet etc on top, thickness should at least 3mm. I think $2000 is expensive. Should try to get 2nd quote.

if you connect laptop directly to ONT port2, does it work? When u connect new converted LAN point (for study) to ONTport2, u use CAT6 cable? Sometimes this cable can be defective All LAN points can be connected to laptop directly although there are exceptions.

Hi, May i know where did you buy multi-point heater and how much was it? Did your contractor install it for you? I am also considering C600 because storage tank does look ugly and bulky. Thanks.- 254 replies

Hi, Below three are the more popular ones. They will have everything you need except the glass mosaic nipper. I never seen it before. Please don't go early in morning. Many contractors will be there to make their purchases. Especially if you need any advices from them. 1) Siong Hua (Sungei Kadut) Tel : 6769 1001 2) Builder Smart (Changi South St 3) Tel : 6545 5333 http://www.buildersmart.com.sg/store/ NB: Don't go to the balestier branch. The branch has very limited material. Chnagi South is the main office. 3) KAI LIM BUILDERS MERCHANTS TELEPHONE: 6742 3333 ADDRESS: 369 CHANGI ROAD SINGAPORE 419969 Just some cost estimation for better quality material. A normal ones that contractor using would cost cheaper. Tile adhesive -- $25/bag (25kg) Grout - $25/bag (25kg) -- I think you need less than 5kg. Heard Siong Hua selling smaller pack from another thread. Tile spacer -- $15/1000pcs. You should need less than 100pcs. I don't know if you are familiar with mixing the mortar/cement with water. When you pour cement/mortar into the water, it will create a lot of dust. Please wear mask, if possible also a safety goggle. Sorry, can't help you on the nipper for glass mosaic.

It will be a great achievement if you could DIY tiling of mosaic tiles. Maybe you need tile spacer so that the gap will be more even when you join two sheets of mosaic together. Local hardware shops sell in pack of one hundred but you dun need so many. You can try to get some from your tiler friend Tile adhesive will be better as it sticks really well. A bag of 25kg should be enough if you are applying 3mm thickness. Mapei Keraflex Maxi S1 is quite good and about $25/bag. You can also use premixed dry mortar which is less than $10/bag. Just need to add water only. Try not to use those that require you to mix Portland cement, sand and water. That is very cheap but you don't know the proportion of each. Just my 2cts. Happy DIYing.

You are very ambitious What are you going to use to stick the mosaic on the wall? tile adhesive, mortar? Looking forward to your updates.

Hi, The big white patch is the "plaster" (should be called putty) that your painter used to cover the cracks? Putty should apply only for small holes and thin layer. Big holes should use mortar (cement + sand + water). Spalling concrete normally happens with old flat, when you knock on it, there should be a hollow sound. You can see the exposed rusty bar inside. If you are in HDB, contact the HDB officer to come over and have a look. Sometimes he can ask his contractor to do for you FOC, sometimes you need to pay half the repair cost. rgds.
