  1. Finally, my chance to start a thread of my own after about a year of scouring through fellow forumers' t-Blogs. Was supposed to be able to start my own thread slightly earlier but due to life's twist and turn of events... Well, change of story as well, and... nonetheless, finally gotten another home of my own! Sadly, not the initial BTO as planned but now a resale unit... Hopefully it's a blessing in disguise. Well, to be fair, it is as well, because I managed to get the dream flat that I've always wanted, no doubt had to squeeze my pockets dry and probably go the bread and butter route. Anyway, titled Part I because due to the twisty road that I went down, a hole grew in the pocket and... thus the super duper limited budget I have to work with for now. May not be a really fanciful t-Blog with much surprises though... Can only continue other parts/ stages when vitamin M is replenished. After the wait that caused my neck to grow really long, we managed to clear the Boss stage and obtained the ultimate... Set of Keys! Didn't come in any fancy leather pouch but in a recycled plastic bag though. Kinda unglam but as long as it works, that's the most important. Well start off the traditional way, by... posting the floorplan. lol... But before I start, I'd like to thank the fellow bros and sis' that took time to reply my queries on their t-Blog and respond to my PMs. Ok, here goes..... P.s. Titled Sand Castle In The Air because the initial planned makeover is said to be quite extensive, but due to the lack of funds to make the dream come through... thus, it's still a sand castle in the air project.. Will slowly but surely work to make the castle land.. haha. My plan was to cover this whole house in greys and monochromes. Hints at cement screed, plaster, concrete, you get the gist ya? I kinda like greys, but my wife prefers light and white. Will try my best to mix and create an end result which will be the dream home of the both of us. Will insert some nature, wood grains and brown to break the hard industrial look that the greys might create. Let's hope this will turn out great! Some of the inspirational homes I've came across:
  2. How much is that Hitachi 4-door fridge? Auto ice maker have to top up water tank or linked to water pipe?
  3. That sofa is pretty cute. lol... but wondering if its quite low to the ground? like kids sofa
  4. Mind sharing how much is this bed and the size? Wanted to find a floating platform bed but the prices so far were really exorbitant! lol
  5. How much was this? Don't mind able to provide link so I can take a peep? Thanks
  6. Hearsay they will "moderate" the valuation figure so you won't see that high of a -COV. Mine came at -10K COV.
  7. Hmm okie... btw, how much and how does HDB charge for the recess area? Any idea? Or they just quote a price and we decide to accept or not.. Sorry ah, noob about this. Cos the place I'm intending to get has a small area in front of the main door. Heard from agent that area has to be purchased if we want to extend the main door outwards or create the main gate at that area.
  8. The front entrance light looks nice... looking forward to see live pics. Heee
  9. Can you purchase the recess area after completion?
  10. Recognised that dark dark walk in wardrobe area while swiping thru the digital mag earlier.. nice contrasts
  11. I thought so.. but so this means the doors that you attach these to, cannot be locked huh. don't see any keyhole. lol and it's a one-way knob? As in, open from one side with the knob but other side can't huh
  12. Oh man...guess beauty does come with a price tag huh... lol Btw, how thick is the kompactop surface? 100% waterproof? Will the colour fade if constantly in contact with water, especially the bathroom area?
  13. Those ceiling beams.... wow. How much do they cost to fix up? Love the feel...
  14. Nice... camping here to see how this shabby chic will turn out... All the best!
  15. Yeah, it was like those maybe have, maybe don't and not even sure kinda feeling.. so eager yet had to suppress, scared later don't have liao then even more disappointed. .. lol
  16. Aug 2014: 5 Room Mansionette.. no COV also... Jurong area..
  17. Nice to have the service balcony... and the main bedroom above the balcony.. Recently exercised option for a 5 Room mansionette... No service balcony... and main bedroom is the one facing the corridor..
  18. All in all... viewed about 6 mansionettes... 2 5-Room units... Due to tight budget, did not engage any buyer's agent for myself.. viewed listings and contacted the respective agents for viewing appts... Agree with the rest on procedures... It is very important, once you have plans to start looking for a unit, make sure you gather all your documents and go submit your HLE (HDB) or Bank loan first... Once you have that in hand, you have the power to call... Unless you buying full cash.. of course, then you are the king to make the call... I encountered once.. I liked the unit, made a lowball offer... and surprise, agent hinted that seller is willing to accept because seller bought new unit, and keys were due for collection soon.. so... But then, my HLE had expired already because I used that for a BTO unit years ago.. However, due to unforseen circumstances... you know lah... things fell apart and failed... So anyway, because I didn't have my HLE on hand, the agent told me no point placing deposit because I cannot exercise option... so they didn't grant me OTP... Then I had to go submit HLE and get HDB to expedite for me... After HLE finally approved, the agent told me unit already granted OTP few days ago... =.=" Sian to the max I tell you... Heart suddenly **** heavy... no mood to do anything... Become like very desperate to get a place asap... Started arranging more viewings... but none could match the budget I had... Well, perhaps my prayers were answered somehow... the previous buyer encountered hiccups... and then... didn't exercise... So I waited out for their option to lapse and finally managed to get the option granted.. Kudos to the seller's agent who helped a great deal also... So now, finally... waiting for 1st Appt in 1 mth time... can't wait for time to pass and get all the paperwork and transaction completed....
