  1. Hi, Jusr some updates receive a call from my agent, the valuation for my woodlands 5 rm is 300k...very surprise...but don't think can sell it at that price....most likely below value. Posting this in Heathrow SQ lounge...while waiting for my flight.. I see quite a few have got their reno getting on very well......must be very exciting......looking forward to mine. Cheers
  2. Thanks...I got over it already but one's thinking really changes after dramatic events that rocks one's threshold...though everyone's threshold is different for the same event. Hmm not to be negative here, but there will never be an ideal or perfect fit partner even if you can find one with time the fit will change......need to be managed, and to managed a relationship is a pretty tough thing to do actually. 相处容易,同住难 Hope I don't sound too negative especially to young couples, I encourage marriage and to have kids still, in fact I do advocate that to some of my younger colleagues to get settled down.... Cheers
  3. Hi, just to share my 2 cents worth. Its immaterial, married or not married, its all in one's value and responsibility to keep the relationship going. I am married for 13 years to my first gf and guess what, my wife start seeing someone and though we have a girl, that doesn't make her change her mind. Though she finally felt sorry and apologise but that's when she was in her dying moments after 3 years of battle with cancer. I did not leave her as I felt a sense of responsibility to take care of her when she is very ill and also i wanted my girl to have a good impression of her mum despite that's not being the case but that's the adult problem. No matter what, it takes 2 to work and it also takes 2 to fail...its never a one-sided issue, but perhaps one party take that as an excuse to stray, that's the unacceptable part. I wonder at times if she wasn;t terribly sick would she had felt sorry or we may just end up in separate ways, though I didn;t wish for her to die, but i guess at this moment, its kind of good for the overall situation especially for my girl based on the fact that she will loose her mum inevitably. Hmm I may confuse you guys but hey at the end of the day marriage doesn;t ensure anything, its the love, value and responsibility that counts, with that the couple can work out most if not all problems. In my case I love my daughter very much and I am willing to suffer in silence for her and even stay "single" till I meet my maker. That's my choice, and I believe one has to be responsible for his/her choice and live up to it. Cheers.
  4. Hmm, I like light color laminates. I found out that the carpenters can do some "patching" use some form of "putty" (hope i et it right) to fill up the "black lines" or if not you can asked for ABS trimming else there are some laminates with with base but will be much more expensive. hope this info helps. but check with your ID/renovators...one thing for sure, can be resolved though may not be 100% like those you get for verneer edges. Cheers
  5. Hi, Posting this from the Airport....flying off to London for a week. Will be slowin response just in case any one is asking for any info. When back hope to see more quotes and perhaps view some units....hope to finalize ID selection by end August, so that once get key in 1st week sept can start permit submission and get the ID to do site measurements and final finalization of quotation and can also start purchase of key items, select materials, etc Have a good week ahead everyone and for those who are renovating your nest a plain sailing week with all issues resolve or no issues at all..... Cheers
  6. Hey...F1 calendar ends at Oct. Singapore race should be second last logically speaking after Japan and China then from Sg to Brazil the last race. The route would be in town and impacted area would be Suntex, Marina front and city hall area, the grand stand most likely to be at the Singapore Flyers area so will be the pit lane. As for the hotel price...sure increase during that period as that is one avenue for the government to make money or rather fund the project and for the resources to managed all the traffic as ours would be a street race circuit. Many countries do that, extra tax on the hoteliers and thus passed on to consumers. I am all excited, personally watched 2 races LIVE...and a F1 fan....sure go watch LIVE. Plan your wedding after Oct is safer or before Sept....as the prep work will also cause inconvenience to your guests as its a night race they need to erect lamp posts, fixed barriers, chicanes, etc followed by safety checks, FIA test run, team free practice for 2 days then qualifiers and actual race and it will take the next day or 2 to dismantle and revert back to original state. Cheers
  7. Some update on quotation: Went to Earnest Interior....walk through the initial quote and the changes I have made....to revise and seems like aroung $45k range Went to Home Design Guide....$53k still missing serveral things...they even quoted sand, etc, etc I think will be in the range of $58k Got some time before need to go home pack up for my trip tomorrow to London so drop by SengKwong and U-Home Interior Design.... SK will send me quote next week, but the person don'e seems to be keen. U Home...mostly a bit beng type but the fellow attended to me, quote ont he spot....package plus additional items...about $45k So conclusion, with the total revamp from floor, to hacking, new store, new walls, doors, windows, pipes cabinets, re-wire, plastering ceiling...exclude 2 bedrooms....about $45k +/- with the $2k plus spent on MBR closet and shelves...about $50k +/- I was told mine is one of those more expensive 3 rm quotes....from all the company that quoted me. As I see alot of 3 roomers are $30+k to $40k max some even $20+k to $30k.....wonder is because the things I wanted for all the companies I approach all expensive ones. Cheers
  8. Hi, good price for the JVC DILA projector. you got to look at the specs and listen for matching the speakers to the amp....I always try to go to UltimateAV or Stereophile website to look for measurements for botth speakers and amp, as the stated numbers are not true numbers, during actual ops it changings just like the impedence of a speaker reduces below the stated nominal value for low frequencies. Amp as well. I for one is not too worried about video processing or pass-through for a surround processor or receiver, so HDMI 1.1, 1.2 or 1.3 is not a concern unless you have many HD devices to consolidate via the receiver to be displayed, for me video is always from source to display. For me surround receiver priority is sound quality. Hmm by the time HDMI 1.3 be ubiquitious time to change liao...hahaha Plasma will used more electricity and generate more heat and when the set gets old will generate noise due to aging "pump" that pushing gas through to be charged, just like aircon that suppose to be a closed system, its never be and there bound to be "mini" loss of gas, but again by then time to change liao. Got space can go for DLP projection TV not as sleek but image quality is better and size for size is cheaper too. I don;t have the space to get that. Cheers
  9. Hi, I am driving a 2003 JDM Corolla....sigh....after selling off my current unot...thinking of chainging to Lexus IS250 or BMW 323i 7 seaters.....suggestion Audi Q7 or Volvo XC90 Cheers
  10. I am also in the process of getting a resale flat, and after reading the loan shark thread....and some thinking...... With all the effort in sourcing a unit, time spent, then effort, time, money on ID search, renovation, buying new things.....I am quite sure most would not mind spending a little more maybe a few thousand dollars more to resolve such problem..... I suppose we have at least the Name and IC number of the seller, his new address is the problem...so I would suggest if getting the so called efficient Home Team police and so called very hardworking and efficient and deserved high pay MPs don't work....spend some money to engage PI to hunt down the bastard and provide the address to the loan shark....of course get PI to snap some picture as well. provide that to the police as well....like doing their job....just as I said out very clean and efficient Home Team!!! yucks
  11. Hmm, may i suggest "Bridal March" a rather short tune by Johnathon Cain, ...played piano, the composer for "Open Arms" He compose or re-arrange it for his own wedding...pretty nice, meant for marching in ..... I have the CD....my sis in law used it for her wedding and receive good review a few of her friends ask her for it. Cheers
  12. Hi, Is the painting in canvas? where did you get it. I am looking for nice affordable canvas oil painting. thanks
  13. Nice work there and progress looks good. One to share...I don't know whether u have kids in your place but the glass swing door is a bit dangerous, as when its open, there is a big gap at the hinge area and if hands in there and door close...the fingers will be gone......I witness one incident years ago and though i like it but since i have a little girl...its a no no for me. something to take note. cheers
  14. Ya AMK is quite a nice place not too far north so still pretty near my in-law place, and pretty central as well, but quite ex....the 3 rm corner cost me $225k, value at $210k $15k cash.....can get one more IWC liao.....sigh, hopefully can sell my unit at woodlands at a better price to cover a bit, but not too promising though.

Its from the side...the view from the sofa, there the surround speakers will be facing the sofa and there are shelvings for my discs....just some ideas...not qualified to be ID lar Hmm entertainment I would say above average, but its an area where huge swings are common, there are people who spend a fortune just on a pair of speakers, cables also 4 digits....really depends on which end of the scale we are comparing with. Thanks for your comments. Cheers
  16. Thanks for the advise on the Rainshower, 10th floor in AMK old estate water pressure should be weak i guess....old estate water pump upwards right? Hmm..... B&W speakers sound, hmm don't really like the sound for the range I am looking at, I listen to the 800 series before very good but too ex, the 600 series...like i said don;t really like the sound....I also audited Dynaudio...super difficult to drive low sensitivity and power hungry at 4Ohms....but one of my friend own a pair and drive with Krell...sound very nice, but not my taste. Thanks for your suggestion anyway...and one more thing....B&W design is awlful as you said. Take a look at Sonus Faber....the gloss lacquer finish and the leather....very nice, curve contour.... One thing about Sonus Faber....no bi-wiring...possible only a set of terminal....sigh For the Denon...Hmm 4306 is a much better choice, I listen and compared, especially if you try to compare the pure 2 channel mode, meaning all other electronic function siwtched off...the difference is very great. I heard there is going to be a 4307 or something, but not much enhancement, the main thing is the support for HD amd Blu Ray kind of format or something I guess, not much info i have, do you have any info. I dont like the idea of passing the video through the receiver or surrong preamp, better get a good player and direct to TV...I am having Sony DVP NS9001ES....very good quality but now cannot get in SG liao not even from Sony Gallery. I am crazy over such things but still within limits or rather I will balance my spend based on other factors one of those is the space and room available...with the limited space, $65000 MBL speakers also cannot sound to its potential....so whether can afford is secondary...even if strike Toto also won't buy that unless strike big and move to big house....haha Then will buy....Lexicon, or Meridian, Krell...all the super duper equipment.....dreaming.....................
  17. Hi Lifestyle, I really like the way you take the pictures...very good, how i wish I can take good pictures. For the HTS, I have some suggestions: For TV, really go for 1920 x 1080, I am eyeing one as well, really can see difference. For projector, cabling is a concern and make sure you plan it properly, from your system to the projector and also the TV tuner/SCV as projector dont have tuner built-in, also consider the HDMI cable length....expensive for HDMI cables, you may want to consider having your system not in the traditional location (on the same side as your screen) but somewhere else for cabling ease and aesthetic purpose. Oh yes, check out the JVC DILA projector 1080....super good, black is black, real black resolution is superb, the model I saw can't remember is about $20k +/- but think got lower range that is cheaper at Adelphi in the shop selling MBL speakers (expensive omni directional speakers...cheapest maybe $18 to 22k for a pair of front speakers)...I dont have the space for both the projector and speakers and also too ex for me as well. For speakers, may I suggest you concentrate on the front speakers as most of the sound effects comes from the front pair and also when you listen to stereo music they are the one not the surrounds, and for movies, center is important too. A few brands you listed I personally not too keen like the KEF. Again it depends on your habits, 50% music 50% movies, or ..... still a good front speakers make a whole lot of differences. If you are getting a good front speaker, consider also buying a separate power amp or stereo amp and feed the pre-out of the surround processor or receiver to the amp which in turns goes to the front speakers, the rest of the speakers source comes from the surround receiver. That's what I intend to do in fact having right now but changing. Also since you are doing major reno, consider the space you need for speaker placement, placement will make a lot of difference to the sound quality. Lastly in general if you have no choice not need to place the front speakers near to walls (back walls) then look for speakers with front flex port and not back fire flex port, so that the bass will be less affected by the rear wall reflection, and less boomy in louder volume and source with heavy bass. Cheers
  18. Hi, Yes I am, system 2 one blower in MBR, another in TV Area and for my girl room will be window unit as the piping will be too long in my opinion. One issue is old estate the current is limited to 8.5 amp, so the BTU is limited and the overall current consume need to be within the limit else will have trip very often, not to mentioned the high current equipment I will be having. Hmm by asking that, you have lobang? Cheers
  19. I suppose you use to "Cheong" in the past...haha, I am starting to drink but only beer, as I have very bad alcohol allergy and only recently doc say ok to drink beer after some blood test. I am living in woodlands now, but new place in AMK. Cheers
  20. Yes I am, crazy over such things, before have kid, almost everyday listen to music or movie, after kid no more, now kid bigger 6 end of this year and staying at her grandma place only back on fri for the weekend, so time to get crazy again...I dont have too many friends and not a night spot person, so music is the best pass time for me. Got chance can enjoy music together. Cheers

  22. OK, got some pic to share, not on the renovation as I have not started, but on my own layout design similar to that i posted in the forum but with minor changes. Original Layout Desired layout Layout design Ceiling and Lighting
  23. Thanks, after my place is done can come and enjoy music...the Sonus Faber Grand Piano really sound good I must say, yet to listen to the Thiel as I had mentioned but its more ex and to what I know need to be placed quite a distance away from corners and side walls to sound good, so may not be possible with my little 3 room....still open to more choice, but speakers are more difficult to choose as far as I am concern and the price range is very wide, amp is easier for me and the price range is quite close. Anyway thanks for your well wishes.
