  1. Couple of things to update. First my ongoing tussle with Opennet. Well, another appointment was made for yesterday 28 Jun after I called opnnet to assure them that my contractor will open up the hole for them to lay their cables. All thgey needed to do was ensure that their guys laid the cable. Appointment was fixed at 2pm. Yesterday at 1.30pm, their guy called me and this is how the first part of the phone conversation went: Opennet contractor (OC) - Hello, we are coming to your place now. Me - I thought the appointment was at 2pm. My contractor going down at 2pm only. OC - No, no, the appointment is at 1.30pm. Me - Don't lie to me. I made the appointment with your call centre, they said 2pm. You want me to call them now to check? OC - Erm, oh, no lah. We are free now, so we thought we go to your place early... So lesson learnt - don't be afraid to challenge people who try to push you. I'm not saying that all opennet contractors are bad, but this one guy is a real pain and he lies. I know he is the same guy coz since the 2nd very frustrating phone call three weeks ago, I always ask for the name of the guy whom I am dealing with in opennet. But the saga is not over yet. After installation, during testing, they discovered that there was some network fault, so I would still have to deal with opennet. Sigh. But at least I finally have this in my house. http:// To a less frustrating topic, my ID asked me to choose material and colour for the vanity top in both the mbr and common bathroom. For the MBR bathroom, I was give the choice between granite or marble. The below photos are the choices I had. The top is the granite, the bottom is the marble. http:// In the end, I chose the granite. I think it fits the overall colour scheme of the bathroom better than the marble. As for the common bathroom, I was given these choices. http:// http:// http:// In this case, I was less fussy about it, so long as it fitted the overall colour scheme of the common bathroom. So I told my ID to choose.

  9. A bit more progress in the carpentry. So they painted my feature wall and have been working on the cupboards and platform in my mbr. This is my feature wall painted a dark grey so that the whole wall on that side is a uniform colour but with different textures. http:// This is my wardrobe area in my mbr. The blue piece you see is actually the door leading to the mbr bathroom. It will look exactly like the cupboard doors, so that it is a hidden door. http:// And this is my platform bed in the mbr. It will have some hidden storage spaces. My bed itself will face the windows. http://
  10. Thanks trcd. I love the bathroom also. The MBR bathroom was the first 3d picture he sent and that was it. I trusted his design style after that. I'll pm you the price of the mattress.
  11. Thanks bykaranne. I wouldn't have minded the white. It was my ID that convinced me to do it in dark colours. We'll see it when they paint it, if I don't like it, I'll ask him to repaint haha.

  14. @huiamos Yah lor. The installer on the line was extremely rude. Refused to compromise or even work with me to see what can be done. I was really incensed. I will wait until they finish the final installation before complaining.
  15. And..... The carpentry has started. Yay! So there was a whole load of stuff which they brought over on Monday. And today they started installing the cupboards and platform in the kitchen, master bedroom and living room. Finally, major activity again. (All photos from my ID.)   16. I've only got experience with the ariston heater. Mine lasted me about 8 years. When it started leaking badly, called ariston to repair, when the ariston guy came, recommended we get new one instead as the repair cost would be close to a new model.

  18. Opennet woes.... Hit a road block for an otherwise pretty smooth reno journey thus far. Opennet, the company installing fibre cavble is making me pull out my hair. This is the story so far.... It all started one beautiful Friday morning (3 June), the sky was blue, the birds were chirping, and I was on leave and at the PC show...haha, ok, I'll cut the nedtime story mode. Anyway, I decided to sign up with Viewqwest for their fibre broadband plan. While I was there, they arranged for Opennet to go to my place to install the termination box (my devt is fibre-ready but the previous owner decided not to have the place wired up). They gave me a date of 9 Jun morning and I was elated as I had heard horror stories of people having to wait 3-4 weeks for their appointment. (Like the start of a horror movie, I did not realise what was to come...) I arranged for my ID to go down on 9 June morning to wait for the opennet guys to fix the termination box. My ID told me he will be there from 10am onwards. At 9.15am, the Opennet guys called to tell me that they were at my place and wanted to be let in. I told him that my ID was only going to be there at 10am but if they could just wait awhile, I would get my ID to rush down. They refused to wait and kicked up a fuss about how they had another appt at 10am. They added that as my place was being renovated, they couldn't do any installation at all. They then told me to call the Opennet hotline to arrange for another appt. When I called the Opennet hotline, they directed me to ViewQwest who had made the arrangements in the first place. So I called ViewQwest. When I told the customer support officer, Sarinah, of the issue, she initially told me that I had to pay $150 coz I was cancelling the appointment and re-scheduling. When I told her that I was not cancelling but that the opennet installers refused to wait for my ID, she checked her system and said that my appt was from 9am-10.45am, so the opennet guys should wait. She told me that she will fix things and call me back. True to her word, she got Opennet to call my ID to arrange another appt the very next day 10 June at 10am. So kudos to Sarinah who settled things for a very agitated me. But the saga is not over. On 10 June, my ID was waiting for them and when the Opennet guys did not turn up, he called the hotline who said that there was no appointment logged in their system. ARGH! So a new appt was made for yesterday 14 June at 3pm. My ID was there at 3pm and the Opennet guys came at 4.30pm. When they came, they said they could not do any installation as there was no hole from the corridor fibre point to my door. See the illustration in the pic below which my ID sent to me. http:// So now, I or my accurately, my ID has to go to the MC of the development to get permission to open up the two holes, then get yet another appt with Opennet to come and install the fibre. So, for all you guys with the termination point already installed, you are very lucky. For those who have not got it installed yet, if you are in HDB, shouldn't be an issue as they will just put trunking from the corridor fibre point to your home. For tose who live in condo, check with your MC before the opennet guys come and have everything all prepared this is because, as they opennet guys told my ID, "[they] just lay cables". Sorry for the long post (well, rant actually)....

  21. Thanks @trcd. I really like the fan too. I have to admit, it was an impulse buy when I saw it in a lighting shop. Only after I purchased it did I go and google to look for reviews. There were very, very few reviews. So was a bit worried. I still love the looks, but I will review it when I start using it. And yes, I have pretty high ceilings. Not too sure about the exact height but I think at least 3 metres.
