  1. May I know where your flat is located? What is the floor area? Do you still have the floor plan of the flat?
  2. Yes, restoring the store room but move the wall out by another 1000mm with door opening in the middle. In your newly created storeroom, you can have two rows of storage shelves on the left and right (like a walk in wardrobe). You can consider a simple feature wall with hidden door like the pictures below.
  3. Looking at your floor plan, you can consider putting back the old store by moving the new wall out by 1000mm to create a walk in closet with two rows of racks for storage. Plenty of storage space is important even though you may not have many things at the moment.
  4. Very nice squarish layout with four big bedrooms. What is the floor area? Where is it located? I notice there is no bomb shelter, air con ledge nor a refuse chute inside your flat, which I think is good not to have them in your flat. I guess it is about 20 years old. I think it is good to have either a store room or a service yard for your flat.
  5. Hi Poliwhack, a big congratulation to you for your new home. The design of your home is really very impressive, nice and modern. I may have asked you before, your bed in the master bedroom is queen sized, right?
  6. Dear readers, We have encountered many unethical interior design companies, contractors, and carpenters in this forum. I feel that it is good to know who these companies are so that we can avoid them. But there are also bad products (some of which are very expensive) that we purchased for our home but have since regretted buying it due to poor quality and poor service. I think it is good to share such information in this forum so that other readers are aware of the products and be able to make more informed decision for themselves. I have one such poor quality door that I bought from Dr. Doors last year. It is a combi-door that allows the wooden door and the metal gate to be opened inward together. The cost of the door is more than SGD2200. The problem of this door is that its door handle is very flimsy and after a while, the whole handle just dropped off. At first, I tried to screw it back myself but it did not work and had to call Dr. Doors but they refused to replace it for free because they claimed it is outside of 1 year warranty and I could not find an alternative handle because the door handle bracket is different. This is really unacceptable and beware of this company whose terms and conditions are very lopsided and unfair to its customers.
  7. You can refer to the following article on water pressure in high rise buildings in Singapore. https://www.aosbath.com/4-facts-about-hot-water-pressure-in-singapore/ Staying in the top floor certainly has many advantages such as higher ceiling, fewer waste pipes, better view, etc. but it also has several disadvantages like more prone to ceiling leakage, hotter roof, lower water pressure, more stairs to climb in case lift breaks down. But as long as you are happy with these apparent "disadvantages", then there is no issue at all.
  8. Hi Cher, Will you recommend to do recess skirting? Do your recess skirting accumulate dust over time?
  9. Hi Clarence, please be aware that top floor units always have lower water pressure. You may want to check with your plumber first before getting your rain shower set.
  10. Hi, first of all, I'd like to congratulate you and your husband for your pregnancy which will bring joy to your family. Just one more question, what kind of liquid fertilizer do you use and where do you add it since your water supply is piped in without a water tank. Thanks in advance.
  11. Hi ilkl, I am wondering how is your vertical green wall going on after 5 months. Have you replaced the fern with spider plant?
  12. Hi Budgetmama, Personally, I think it is better to change to a L shaped WIW. Why? This is because we spend one third of our lives on the bed and therefore it is worthwhile to fit in a comfortable king sized bed. You may want to consider using glass walls for the WIW like the ones below because the glass wall is only 10mm (1cm) thick. More importantly, the glass wall will make the WIW more open and less oppressive. It will also bring in more light. Otherwise you will feel catastrophe and cramp in a tiny space.
  13. I am surprised that there are two waste pipes in your service yard. I thought HDB has moved those unsightly pipes to the air-con ledge. But the good thing is that you don't have any pipe in the bathroom.
  14. Most BTO flats have the waste pipes placed in the air-con ledge. This is a good design and will make the bathrooms roomier.
  15. Photobucket has started charging people like us to post photos in Renotalk. Just upload your pictures directly into Renotalk and bypass any third party hosting sites like Photobucket.
  16. I find that the corner area of your L shaped wardrobe will be difficult to access. Why don't you ask your carpenter to modify it to the design like the picture below.
  17. It is definitely too cramp to have a king size bed with your proposed U shaped WIW. You need at least 400mm at each side of your bed for getting in and out of the bed. Perhaps an L shaped WIW is more suitable.
  18. I did not engage any ID. All design were done by myself. By the way, all air-con pipes from the compressor outside are concealed beneath my master bathroom and come out into the kitchen. In this way you can eliminate air-con trunking in the master bedroom.
  19. For the wall at your foyer, you may want to consider installing a vertical green wall. It will bring freshness to your home!
  20. Hi, you can consider doing your master bathroom like mine. My master bathroom is exactly the same like yours. I did reposition my toilet bowl to the middle of bathroom.
  21. Hi Starryun, may I know where you bought the frameless door frame from? Thanks.
