  2. Hi, $669 @ Gain City AMK branch. Considered cheap or not !!
  3. Hi, I bought a EF 7100. Have not started using it yet cos have not moved house lah, so can't give you comments on it
  4. You can try Choo Chiang, just do a Google search on their branches. I am using Legrand switch in my flat, nice design and quite popular, worth to consider
  5. It really depends what you want to do. If no major hacking work, $30K should be pretty enough. Just drop by any ID firms and show their your floor plan, you can get plenty of quotes from them.
  6. Hi kgms, you got mail Hi frostyflake, you may try to negotiate with Patrick and see how Each time when I try to scare him by saying that I want to deduct his $$, he always say he is having stomach pain and quickly run away I did not negotiate with him at all on his quote. I feel that his price is still pretty reasonable though he is not the cheapest. Just my personal opinion, I am looking for quality reno work, not the cheapest reno work lah Sometimes, if you negotiate too much, those contractors/IDs will be unhappy and simply gave you not so good quality work or ate a bit here and there. They also want to make profit mah. Anyway, Patrick is not this kind of contractor lah. He will automatically give you discount and also do extra work for you FOC, like hanging the pics for you, installing bathroom accessories. Although he did not do anything to my utility room, when I seek help from him on the utility room floor, he still gave me some thinner and a brass brush to clean away the dirt stain left by previous owner. He even demo to me how to clean the floor. No question asked from him, simply help if he can
  7. Hi, applefreak, your list is very detailed Just want to add one item that came into my mind. necessities will be 1. washing machine (and dryer for some) 2. tv 3. fridge 4. stove (gas or electric, hood for some) 5. a HTS (only dvd player or dvd player with speakers or dvd player and 5.1 system) 6. water heater (instant or storage, gas or electric) optional 7. electric kettle 8. microwave 9. oven 10. rice cooker 11. air-con or fan
  8. GoalHome, err... I don't know what model leh. I simply told Patrick I want those switches with big button. He said something like rocker switch and bought what I wanted frostyflake, he will definitely arrange with you for a site visit upon your confirmation to engage him. In fact, he won't agree to do reno for you until he has done the actual measurement on things like kitchen cabinet, wardrobe. Mrs Quek is the diary for Patrick, she decides he should go where at what time which location When the first time I met with Patrick for site measurement, I only liaised with her to fix the timing.
  9. Hi happy, find those switches very beautiful n good, no problem so far. Just need a soft touch to switch on the lights, unlike the tiny button design from Clipsal which I have to press so hard Pay extra for these switches but I like them. My bf who is using another branded switches in his house also commented that my taste is good
  10. Nobody responded? I suggest you state down the flat types and/or locations. Or drop by any ID shops for their standard packages. I believe they are most willing to show you the flats they are currently doing now to prove their workmanship. If you are considering Ho Bee, can get Patrick to let you view the units he is renovating now. I think he has at least 10 flats on hand now !!
  11. simplyguy80, I suggest you call his wife, Mrs Quek. She is always in the office answering calls. I did not ring Patrick when I wanted his quote for my flat, I simply emailed my floor plan to his fax #. 2 days later, I rang his office # and Mrs Quek told me she has gotten my email and would get back to me. The next day, I received their quotation. h4happy, the switches look like Legrand. I have them in my house. Last mth, Patrick bought them for me from Choo Chiang. 1 gang is $1.90, 2 gang is $3.50 and 4 gang is $8.15.
  12. Do a careful look on your Tarrazzo floor, has it been maintained well? Any big cracks or broken chips? If no, then I guess it should be quite safe for you to do without the rubber sheet. My personal view, the workmanship 20 years ago is better than what we are getting now. Still, the decision is yours But do you have any Tarrazzo skirtings? You need to get your contractor to hack them away. The laminate flooring guys don't do such job.
  13. Patrick has been quite frank with me. So, or my case, if he kept quiet, it means cannot be done/fixed. If can be rectified, he will say ok. I complained to him that the handles for my aluminium glass door under the concrete support are very or-biang, he smiled and kept quiet. Later, I asked him again if I could change them, he said cannot, came with the doors. I guess if I really want to change them, he needs to redo the doors. I only highlighted to him, I did not ask him to relocate my basin. Don’t want to see more holes on my kitchen wall liao. That really depends. Before you confirmed engaging him, he has to give priority to his current clients. After I have engaged him, I either email him or call him, depends on the urgency of my subject. If it is not that urgent, I prefer to list the things I want him to do in my email. He will definitely read his email, this is what he told me, but he won’t reply cos he is a busy man If I just want to ask him a simple qtn, I will ring his mobile. Sometimes, when he is busy, he doesn’t read his sms.
  14. I believe a carpenter can do it, but you might have to go thru your contractor to engage the service of his carpenter. Have you engaged any contractor for your flat? I know for my contractor, Ho Bee, its carpenter Ah Keong can do this kind of job.
  15. Yah, zirhk3355 is right. My agent is also from ERA and I only paid him the agent fee after the 2nd appt. Not on the day of the 2nd appt, but after it. I gotten the bill from his company immediately after the 1st appt, but I simply ignore it
  16. My house electrical work has finished, find the 2 electricians quite ok. But one thing I cannot understand is, all the lighting points they installed for my flat are not in the same location as the old ones. I did not ask for more points, I told Patrick to do rewiring and follow existing lighting points. Does it mean that all the old points are not centralised? Or they could not mount the lighting socket on existing holes cos these holes were already damaged due to rewiring? I am quite satisfied with most of the so-called new point locations except the one in my bathroom. I noticed that it is not centralised and a bit toward the windows side. Anyway, it is not a major problem to me, so I did not tell Patrick to relocate it. But I did tell Patrick last weekend that his worker did not install my basin in the centre of the wall. The wall for my basin is a very narrow wall, so I could only buy a kid size basin After he took out his measuring tape and measured the diff between left-hand-side and right-hand-side of the gap outside the basin, he kept quiet. Again, still ok for me lah
  17. Yes, the last time I asked them, there was an extra charge for the rubber at $1 psf. But no charge for the foam. This foam came free for me. I did not ask for the rubber as I personally find it too expensive. This rubber is meant to reduce the hollow sound when you are stepping on the laminate flooring. If you are very particular about the sound, then no choice you might want to pay for it. Initially I was not quite used to the hollow sound, I thought the wood would crack when I stepped on it. But after a few days, I think the wood has settled down and it is not so noisy now. Or maybe I have gotten used to it But one thing you got to make sure is, your crement screed or tiles underneath the wood should be as smooth as possible.
  18. It is fine as long as this is what you want, that is your house mah Anyway, I am using concrete support for my wet kitchen area with granite top. I used aluminium glass door under the concrete support. However, if you wish to use wooden cabinet underneath, my contractor, Patrick from Ho Bee ever told me it is possible to use wooden frame to hide the concrete support in such a way that you won't get to see the bricks and cements part. It will look like a normal wood cabinet under your solid surface kitchen top. Just tell your contractor to do it this way
  19. Still no 3D pic to see? Must your ID liao
  20. After reading so many comments and remarks, very blur liao Whether it is more economical, dine in is always healthier cos you can control the amount of MSG, salt and oil you add to the dishes.
  21. The bad guy has left Ho Bee. The 2 current young guys are pretty ok. Cannot find fault about them except, I personally think that they are a little bit square head My kitchen has 2 lighting points and it is not of equal width due to some area being eaten up by the rubbish chute. What they did was to calculate the centre spot based on the width of each section and install the lighting points. So when you stand at the entrance of the kitchen, you can see that both lighting points are not in a straight line with each other. Although not swee swee liao, but still ok to me as it is not very obvious. When I sounded my unhappiness to Patrick, he explained the reason for them to do that and said if I was still not happy, they would re-align them. I did not change their location eventually. Other than this, they are quite ok in a way that they did some mathematical calculation before they install lighting points, so as to make sure they are in the central location. I saw their equations on my ceiling wall before the painting work
  22. Pei Chun is the best, since I graduated from this school I believe the ranking of Pei Chun is pretty high on the overall Sgp primary school ranking list, worth to consider
  23. sleeping91, it will be good if you can obtain some pics (be it magazines or printed photos) and show to Patrick what you want to achieve. A pic can tell a thousand words mah
  24. Unless you or your hubby are those 150kg persons, else normal toilet bowl can do mah. I did not restrict myself when selecting the toilet bowl leh, I simply go for the one my bf and I like most. Coincidentally, it is one of the smallest adult size toilet bowl Actually, a clean toilet bowl is better than a big toilet bowl
