Recommended Posts

For my new place, I want to have a smaller hood, hob n built in oven, hopefully budget not more than 1.8K. I saw electrolux promo package only $1599 but too bad they can't hold stock for me.

can anyone offer word of advice which brand of hob & hoob is most durability, good performance & value for money?(haha, sound like ai-pe-ai-che), aiyo, which brand should i go for leh?? <img src="http://203.142.16.149/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

- teka

- bosch

- Mayer/Ariston OR

- electrolux

Also, is gas hob better or induction better HUH?

I am clueless when come to such things.....help!!!!! <img src="http://203.142.16.149/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dunno:" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /><!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Ok..my 2cts..me and my wife just like Ariston, so for both last and this new kitchen, all using Ariston (maybe we are at Ikea too frequent, coz they use all Ariston stuff too! <img src="http://203.142.16.149/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> ) BTW, do you know that Ikea now sells Hood, Hob and Oven!! I saw it at Ikea Tampines over the weekend. Ariston and Indesit brand, no prize for guess who they got it from. But Ariston tends to be more expensive than other 'house' brand like Indesit or Delizia, which most of the time got ALMOST the same specs. The rest never use b4, so cannot comment.

For hob, you got choice of flame, hotplate, vitroceramic and induction.

- Flame is the most common one and for people who cook a lot and grew up with using flame, most likely will stick to it.

- Hotplate is useless, avoid at all cost.

- Vitroceramic is what I use, cheaper than induction but run on electricity also. Nice and clean but most people will not be use to it. If you cook very little, this could be an alternative of choice. If 2 burner can use normal 13A socket, anything more will need higher Amp socket. Will need flat pots, pans and woks.

- Induction is the latest and have more feature, like if you put your hand on it, you will not feel hot at all, it also conduct heat when in contact with metal surface, and the heat will heat up very quickly. Kinda neat feature and good if got children. But most expensive and not all pots and pans can be use (though most should be fine). Need higher Amp socket to work.

In the end, your needs will determine your choice!

I'm looking at vitroceramic hob now because we planning to do open kitchen and it seems to be a cleaner option, less smoke I assume. Do you cook often? We are probably cooking during the weekends. And might use it to boil soup/tong shui also, not sure using vitroceramic hob will increase the electric a lot? Do you find that the electric bill expensive when you cook?

We visit Mayer recently and the sales person recommend the Ariston hob which is 13Amp. He said this is the only ones suitable for HDB and won't trip electric. However we find that the price is higher than brand like EF, it's $799. How much do you pay for the Ariston vitroceramic hob? Do you know where can find this kind of hob with reasonable price?

Any one used Fujioh NL900 or F99 before? Didn't see much review for F99. I need one with chimmey as I have a beam just above my hood and I'm not doing kitchen cabinet above the hood. I think visually it will look better with a hood with chimmey but I do not want to choose a hood based on looks too. Btw, I used a EF brand chimmey hood before and its really almost useless. thanks!

hi,

can anyone share if they have bought an hood which has a reservoir for collecting oil which can be poured away ?

i know only Fujioh, fx-900, can,

all others seems to be absorbing the oil in their carbon which cannot be removed so means if full of oil, have to change new one, right ?

only can remove the filter to wash it.

any comments about inner flame ?

all hobs are stainless steel and would not rust, right ? saw some posting that the flame thing got rust,

glass or stainless steel ? will glass crack easily ?

finally, with or without safety valve ?

Hi, I am also looking to get hob & hood. And i have similar concerns as u. Contemplating between Fujioh, Rinnai and Turbo. Would greatly appreciate it if you could PM me or email me at rusdiman@gmail.com which brands and models you eventually got for your hob & hood?

Thanks.

Rusdi

Anyone here has been using turbo brand hob and hood? What is ur take on them? Is their fire good enough for our asian cooking? Been searching high n low for turbo reviews but seems to be not recommended for asian cooking, plus it doesnt last as long as it used to. How about its hood? The one that comes with metal filters and charcoal filters? Is the power good enough for our asian style cooking, such as frying?

The most recommended combo is always rinnai hob and fujioh hood. Since im not a fan of glass hob, i am looking at its stainless steel inner flame hob. Has anyone have it? How long have u been using it? Maintainance wise, easy? How do u ignite the flame when u the ignition fails( u are in the midst of cooking/ intending to cook something at that moment)? Regarding fujioh fx900r hood; do u find it too bulky? Is the maintainance the easiest among the rest? Does it work like it claims?

Sorry for the questions. Having headache in selecting hob and hood... :( hope someone who has been using any particular hob and hood for more than 3 or 5 years able to give sound feedback. What combo did u choose?

Thanks.

Hi Jerome, can you kindly send me price list of Fujioh hood and Rinnai hob? Am considering these two brands.

Is it true that it's not advisable to use glass top hob if there's built in oven below it?

Hi Zero,

Can I get a quote for fujioh, turbo hob and hood?

Turbo: T638TG (hob) and TH968T (hood)

Fujioh: no particular model in mind yet. Something with 3 hobs and tempered glass.

Is techno or turbo better?

I ordered the RB2CG & FX900 from Jerome during the promo. Best price I could find for this combi! :sport-smiley-004: Delivery and installation will be in about 2 weeks. Just want to share that Jerome has been very helpful throughout my weeklong sms & email enquiries. Appreciate the advice he has given so far :)

I need to get a cooker hood (those flat kind that mount below the cabinets). Only criteria is cheap. I don't care the brand or model and would even accept a 2nd hand one. And I only need the hood, don't need the hob+hood set. This is for the flat that I intend to rent out. Anyone knows where is the best place to get?
