Led Downlights

Recommended Posts

Need to be clear about the beam angle of the particular LED light you are buying. The MR16 ones that can be direct replacement for halogen spotlights generally have narrower beams. Because they are designed to replace the halogen spotlights anyway. The ones that are designed as downlights would generally have wider beam angles, though possibly not as wide as PLC downlights.

my 3rm flat house uses:

1. LED strip and LED crystal (master)

2. LED strip (Kitchen)

3. LED Strip (Living)

4. Swarovski Crystal DL (toilet)

5. Normal PLC in Kid's room (direct lighting)

6. 6W Dimmable MR16 (picture light)

I think changing to LED PLC also soon.

Seriously all depends on your lighting needs.

Whether direct or indirect lighting requirements.

LED downlight has many different type; not necessary a spotlight type.

There are many available model with disperse light and is

even bright than normal PLC downlight.

Try to choose a lower power LED downlight as it generate less heat compare

to a high power LED downlight. You can differential by their appearance.

High power LED lights tends to have metal casing or heatsink built-in.

I have seen those LED downlight for homes, range from $30 to $60++ dollars.

They are not really so expensive. China uses a lot of LED.

I think they are leading the trend to bring down the LED cost.

Hi Lim,

Just curious... are your leds those in a solid fitting?

Or it's the normal led plus tranformer blah blah?

Hi just to share with you guys.

Recently i bought 30nos of LED downlight for a total price of 1575.00( 7W LED downlight Taiwan ) for my new renovated house.

Understand from my elecronic engineer friend is that you got to compare the lux level, LED driver, and which brand of LED they use.

In the market, there are brand as follow

Cree , Nichia , Osram , edison and philips.

We cannot base on the spec to buy the LED lighting.

My house LED spec as following

Dimension size: diameter 100mm x depth 25mm

tilable 0~45 degree

Beaming Angle : 60 degrees

color : Netural White 4000K

White Finishes

Hope this info help when you guys are sourcing for good LED lighting.

Just to share here since everyone is talking about LED down light, i bought mine few months back from a direct manufacturer company at $48/set and it's working fine. I am quite happy with the result and their service is good too, the sales person explained very detail to me when i ask him many questions before i decided to give it a try. You can find their advertising at a forum http://forum.punggol.org/index.php/topic,15506.30.html i think their promotion of $48 has ended, but recently they will be launching a new promotion soon. I got the news from facebook, here are some photos of my house to share
