Jason Goh From U And B Design And Renovation

Recommended Posts

Check this out - http://ubreno.blogspot.com/

I think Jason is very busy nowadays, considering he's probably a "one-man-show" firm. To be fair, I don't know how good (or bad?) he is, but he's only human. If there are too many projects, he can only handle the first-come-first-serve basis customers.

Trustsome1, would you share briefly your experience to be fair to this man who is also trying to eke out a living?

It's a long story. To cut it short, he did not deliver his promises and keep to his appts and deadlines. Very poor time management and lacking sincerity. If he already can't handle so many projects in the 1st place, don't keep accepting more projects. Sometimes, a busy contractor may not be a reliable contractor. I've learnt my lesson.

P.S. I'm in no way trying to malign anyone because I'm just stating the facts and hoping to provide info to potential customers so as to make a more informed decision.

Pls don't wait. You are better off getting other contractors. Don't be tempted by the price. There is a trade-off if you do not possess the patience.

I echo trustsome1's sentiments. Since reno started, I've gone from excitement and anticipation to anger and frustration and to this current stage now it's disappointment.

We engaged him based on good recommendations from the forum and good faith in him when we met up and spoke to him but right now since reno started, I have not been getting any of the pleasant experience the forumers had. I don't think my expectations are too high, what I'm looking for is just someone who will keep to his word and get the work done and in the event that he is unable to meet the date, I would appreciate him informing us to give him more days to get the job done. We are definitely not in a hurry but also not to the extent that he keep giving us a date to get things done and then when we went down to check he never do what he promised.

Actually, if you can't wait for the quotation. Just go for other suitable contractors or IDs of your choices. :) Rather than banging your hope on him. That what most of us do also.. we have shortlisted few contractors...and giving ourself a period of time. Those, who didn't manage to give us a quotation we just have to let go....no choice..perhaps, they are too busy...too much projects on hand...just too many perhaps. I got a quotation before who is supposely to be cheap also; but he quote us pretty expensive....after some thoughts with my wife...perhaps, he/she we felt doesn't want to reject projects but yet busy...so he/she just have to quote a more profitable quotation and see if we bite. We don't blame them; it is business aferall.

So it might be a blessing in diguise in one way or another.

Hmm..if he delay your HO. Use it to your advantage, scrutinised your unit as much as possible and give him a written list of rectificaiton. :) My two cents. On the period which is closer to HO, they bounce to have delay especially contractors based on my experience. Unless, u don't have anything to rectified. heehee. That the least we can do, since it is already delay..Trust me...the more u look at your unit...the more recitfication u have...then the more u will add to the list and get frustrated. :)

last but not least, he is a contractor, not a ID. There are always quite a lot of things u will need to either chase, handle yourself or manage yourself.

Just be very cautious and give some deep thoughts first and see if u are suitable to engage a ID or contractor. If you are someone who don't like to manage, any contractors is NOT suitable for u at all. Go for a ID. Of course, either ID or contractor will give you different set of challenging problems.

*Err...just based on 3 reno I had before hor...so it is only my own view*

Not here to direct allegation or watsoever intentions.

Just my personal experience with this Jason Goh #1.

Had requested for quotation with him back then and I have to wait for 2 weeks before he emailed his quote. $ wise, it's not that attractive afterall. Very comparable to what others are offering too. Spoke to him once over the phone & he has boasted of able to handle 30 projects at one go. Worse still, he turned SIA pilot during our first appointment. Same case with that Ah Soon, never inform me when he can't make it.

At that instant, I know he is not for me. Sure real time pilot during reno progress if he is going to single handle so many projects at one go. So what if he gives me 10k below outside market price. Such lapses will surely jeopardise the quality.

I personally prefer more realistic and sincere contractor than those greedy and unethical contractor who uses a net to catch fishes.

To those reno seekers, my advise is to open your eyes bigger to judge one and not follow the herd blindly. Normally, the pioneer batch benefits most. Furthermore, no free lunch in this world. Overly cheap is not always the best route to go. Trade-offs may get beyond what we can swallow.

Just my 2c. :)
