Thanks everyone for the input.

This is just the first quote I got from one of the ID but seems that a lot is wrong.

He will do a requote and I keep you all update again.

Once again thanks for the input and advance thanks to those that post later for the quote shown above.

Its been a while since last update as there are quite a few changes due to FSM suggestion.

I will touch a bit on ID selection for this post.

Juz Interior - Frank

Young chap with a new started Interior Company which started last year.

Cheapest quote among all as they have their carpentry factory in Malaysia if I am not wrong (Usually Carpentry makes the bulk of the costing)

Take in my ideas and will give his views and advise on better suggestion to it. Easy going.

RenoGuyz - Nick

Pricing is quite reasonable but ideas for the house does not really click with me.

Saw previous post of his job shows quite good workmanship + dead space usage.

There is also a minor case of argument for some work done but to be fair, i feel its not totally his side of the fault.

Custom Box - Mr Foo (Chosen)

Pricing is reasonable (Slightly higher pricing compare to other targeted).

Good workmanship and good space planning (After viewing his completed job site - His house).

Take in suggestion and give good advice for situations.

Prompt in reply.

Most important since I know where his house location, if he don't do a good job I will go hang pig head :P (Juz kidding)

Connectix Interior - Nigel

Done renovation for my brother's house 2 times before.

However during the process, went a bit MIA (Think too busy) thus decide to let go.

Alan Furniture & Renovation Contractor - Alan

Popular in RT.
Some people who were doing renovation at a later stage(Yr end 2013) seem to have a lot of problems with him in terms of communication & workmanship. However there are also some who have good experience with him in terms of workmanship and ideas.

Decided not to test my luck.

**Pls note that these are my personal views based on my own judgement.

I have no affiliation or issues with any of the above stated company and people.

Hi,

Foo seems like a good ID, based on what I read. Who are his contractors?

I have hired my ID before I read about Foo. Otherwise, I would have considered Foo. Foo's designs are too industrial for me though.

Not sure on the contractors as I haven't seen them.

When are you starting your renovation? From 29th April onwards? :notti:

Started today actually (FSM advise for the date and time)

Actual hacking and etc will be next week (Waiting for permit)

Hi Songz,

Great to hear you engaged Foo too. I'm sure your reno is in good hands. When are you starting reno?

Thanks.

Will mostly start next week (Hope the permit comes fast)

From experience, I remembered it took around 2-3 days. You can login to My HDBpage to check status of the renovation request ~

After hacking notice a problem.

14036692736_b1720bcf9a_z_d.jpg

Originally not going to do any false ceiling & Living Room will eat into kitchen size of 1meter.

After hacking, found out that the kitchen ceiling wall is lower by around 4 Inch (10cm).

Some suggestion I got :

1. Do false ceiling for whole of living room and use downlights

2. Design a big piece of platform above dinning area (Which is part of where the Living eat into kitchen)

3. Few feature Beams.

Anyone have any suggestion or propose as above ?
