In not so good news.... the end bit of trunking in the MBR bathroom popped open... shall see if my contractor can help me with this, if not i'll need to go back to the aircon installation company.

Looking for good contractors? Click here for your request

almost no updates this week. visited the new home yesterday and saw that the fixed panel part of the glass shower screens were up in both bathrooms :) didn't manage to spot anything else that was done hahah.

anyway, still quite a busy week! chose paints, laminates and doors. mr k says painting should be done these few days. service yard windows coming up soon as well.

then the next step will hopefully be carpentry! can't wait!

electricians came today to fix up the lights. appreciate that mr k got his people to come by even though it's a public holiday! :) :)

all the lights we bought off taobao worked fine. lucky us!

LED ceiling light for the kitchen

And a smaller version of the same LED light for the balcony

Tracklights for the living room brick wall :) :) :) the electrician had some feedback for these... said the clip/attachment for the individual holders isn't very sturdy, but if we don't mess around with them they will be fine.

Tracklights for the passage way as well :)

the electricians also did some other bits of electrical work, like putting on face plates for the switches, and helping to wire up the 13A point in the MBR bathroom. they didn't have stock for the protective cover today, so the points in the service yard and MRB bathroom will have to be finished another day. they also very kindly helped me silicon up the gap in my aircon trunking! :sport-smiley-018:

I love the windows in your bedrooms!!! Very nice LemonCandy!

And I absolutely LOVE your brick walls. Job well done!

haha thanks ashleyadam. the windows are HDB ones. i'm thanking my lucky stars that they are quite nice. :P and yes i love my brick wall too!

Black track lights look great! From taobao? Are they e27 bulbs?

yes from taobao. they're not e27 though. so if one spoils i'll have to replace the entire light+holder. i bought them from here: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=12611507766&spm=2014.12193480.0.0

today was a packed day! we planned for fan + heater installation, and also gas installation. went out to buy lunch about noon and came back to find mr k's carpentry guy at our place too. so we also had an impromptu carpentry discussion and finalised everything :thumbs up: and thennnn after we left the new home for dinner, qoo10 called to deliver our blinds! :dancingqueen:

ok first up, fan installation.

installed the Crestar Twin Air 48" in matte black in the living room. nice and sleek with good wind.

14096435565_1d003f3cd6.jpg

and the Acorn Ventilateur 203 42" in white for each of the bedrooms, with light kit. round and super cute. love it! good wind too. the two energy saving bulbs included in the light kit are not very bright, but it's an easy-to-fix problem. will probably replace the bulbs with higher wattage ones in time to come.

14116524783_8e420607a7.jpg

the Crestar didn't require balancing, but the Acorn did (the installer didn't tell me; i noticed little black weights on the top of the fan blades :P). our installer was a one-man show and he took almost three hours to install the four fans. all ran smooth and quiet. no sounds at all! very pleased.

next was heater installation! we opted for the Bennington C600 multi-point heater. it's installed in the common bathroom where storage heaters will normally go, and supplies hot water to both common and MBR showers and sink mixer taps when turned on :) we read of some water pressure issues before purchasing so we tested it right after installation was completed. ran hot showers in both bathrooms and found that the water pressure didn't drop. :good:

gas pipe installation was uneventful. gas guy arrived early and was done in under 45 minutes. no pix! forgot to take cos i was too busy enjoying the fan breeze haha.....

more pics of the house with lights and fans:

living room day time with lights off

living room day time with lights on

14096881734_3535aa75eb.jpg

living room night time with lights on (you can see that the kitchen is pitch dark). the six 10W LED down lights + 5 7W LED track lights are plenty bright enough for the space. the pic doesn't show it well, but the space is realllyyy bright. experimented with a few combinations, and if we're just watching TV, just the track lights are enough. for eating and reading, we'll turn on the row of four down lights :)

bedroom night time with down lights

14096422715_28c48ea429.jpg

bedroom night time with down lights and fan light kit. there is only a small difference with the light kit turned on. the light also has a "muddy" look, which i don't really like. i much prefer the "cleaner" light that the LED down lights give. probably cos the light kit's wattage is too low, like i mentioned in the previous post.

nice Crestar Fan.

Don't mind if you can share where you purchase this fan and price?

hi i paid $280 for the Crestar fan + $25 for the wall speed regulator. installation is usually $40 per fan, but since i bought four fans, they just charged me $40 for installation of all four fans out of goodwill.

got my fans from Chelsea Lighting, near Chinese Garden MRT.

Hi,

May i know where did you buy multi-point heater and how much was it? Did your contractor install it for you?

I am also considering C600 because storage tank does look ugly and bulky.

Thanks.
