Hahahahah... no I'm not getting anything yet. But I just went around looking, to see what I'd like to have (meaing the features I feel are what I want, and what features I can do without).

I did go to Ikea to try and brainstorm about space-saving idea.

I'm also waiting for my keys. It's a long wait.

mmoh - Thanks for the link to the blog. I applaud the writer for taking the time & effort to write up his/her reno experiences.

kyooko - One space-saving idea is to install a flip table along the length of the kitchen window to function as a workspace or dining table.

Here's some reference sites that contributed to my decision-making for sanitary ware and electrical appliances! :)

Any bit of cost-saving is always a good thing, haha. :P Hope it helps!

2Roomer, my kitchen is not really that big enough to have a fliptable by the window, though I am thinking of using swing out tables, like the one in Hafele facebook page, where the counter surface can be pulled out until it is perpendicular to the counter. thinking of using that to create an island in the kitchen, but swings back when not required. Also thinking how I can squeeze a breakfast corner into the kitchen. For now, everything is just castles in the air, cos my flat has not even reached my floor yet. :(

kyooko - Get your point about the kitchen flip table. Thanks for pointing it out. At least, I got 2.5 years to figure how to squeeze the most space out of 45 sqm. My BTO is supposed to be completed in early 2018.

Any opinions on how feasible it is to convert the recess wall (beside kitchen entrance which houses the circuit breaker) into a shoe cabinet and display case? Shoes have be stored sideways.

Ladies, for flip table, do keep in mind that the leg support is required if not you cannot put heavy stuff.

the cabinet, you may like to refer to this post and take a look at the depth of the cabinet http://www.renotalk.com/forum/topic/71341-theoverusewoodwhiteblack-theme-home/?p=899974

Personally i think that is too narrow for shoes.

I have something like this in mind with the shoe cabinet: http://renohdb.weebly.com/blog/archives/11-2012

Spaceman & Smootree both sell European space-saving furniture that look nice but they are expensive. Our local Hidden Wall Bed (HWB) has lots of videos on Youtube. I am not sure about their prices but their furniture seems highly customisable.

Hi people!

I am new to this forum! My bto is going to be in 2019, long way but i am already planning my floor plan, lol.

Have drafted a sample plan to see how can i best decorate my flat. I have a concern about putting a bathtub into my toilet. Gonna seal up kitchen door to make the toilet more usable.

Can i check what is the normal bath tub measurement in the market and is it possible to fit into a 2mtr width toilet?

Welcome Rainbow1979 & BunniBoi, another bunny! Is Rainbow a gal and Bunni a boy? If so, finally we got a boy here. Welcome to the growing 2-roomer family! :dancingqueen:

Rainbow, I saw similar a proposal in the HWZ thread pointed out by kyooko previously where the consideration is to hack the bedroom wall and create a wall to have a bigger bedroom but reducing the size of the living room.

Kyooko probably can share some info on the bathtub as she is considering 1 while I would never take up 1. :P

I like your kitchen layout, easy to place the appliances and cabinets.

My personal opinion hor, personally I dont like to showcase my bedroom to visitors although I do have plan to seal up the bathroom - kitchen wall so if there is any visitor, they have to go to the bathroom via my bedroom. but in general, I dont like the idea of hosting my guests with my bed in sight.

Anyway, going back to your design, do you want to consider the following:

  • L-shaped wardrobe so that you have enough space yet can place your bed against the wall. Not sure if I remember correctly, saw somewhere that in fengshui (if you believe), it is better if your bed is against a wall
  • You can move your desk to the wall behind the display table
  • Your dining area blocks the walkway from living room to bedroom. You might like to consider a squarish table that is against the wall and can sits 3 pax instead of 4.
  • The "living room" space seems under utilised.

Just some personal opinion for your reference. :D

Bunniboy, probably 2Roomer can share some info about hidden bed with you.

Btw, when are you getting your bto?

Hideout furniture slips into the wall to provide you more space

Thinking of having this kind of layout against the wall for tv.. to replace my dining area.
