Hey ricepapergirl,

I went down to Castlery last weekend.. the prices are not that cheap... the dining chairs and tables do look very tempting!

Will continue to hunt again.. thanks for the tips!

Try Nook and Cranny. I bought my dining table and side cabinet from them. Simple and easy designs with good prices :)

Oh! Sorry about that! What are you still looking for? Sofas? TV consoles? I'll try and see what other places there are which are cheaper than Castlery. :)

Some updates..

I actually lost track how many days...

So far till now, all the carpentry is up, windows grills, accessories, lightings, aircons and all the doors are up.

Only thing left are main gate, shower screen, toilet racks etc(i am still trying to get some hooks for the toilets and doors) and curtains.

Some painting work left to be done as well.

Carpentry took 3days and ID made a mistake on the combination for my master bedroom. Supposed to have additional dresser cum study table but atlas he assumed the carpenter knew...it was not fabricated. After much discussion, we decided to forgo the dresser and just leave with 3 cupboards.

So far renovation has minimal problems as ID and myself went to check on site most of the time!

Shopping was tedious..till now I am still trying to get some hooks, bars for the toilets... which is yet to be install.

Bot these cabinets from Ikea and when I opened up to try and fix, atlas! The mirror in the center cabinets was shattered....=( the backing board for the right cabinet was too short for the cabinet.. =( =( have to go back to exchange.

Finally settle our washing machine and dryers. to be continue....

hi all,

Renovation has almost completed and there are only minor touch up like painting, shower screen and accessories to install. Sorry for not updating often. I will update again with pics soon.

Remembered the swing?I got it and intend to hook it up in the balcony but totally clueless how to do it.

I did try to talk to my ID, he tried to help but do not have enough information as he has never done it before. Been asking ard who can do and could not find a solution. =(

the only problem right now is to get the right people as my roof is using mild steel bars and they are sturdy enough to hold the weight of the swing.

Any kind soul ard who ever encountered such problem is able to give advise please?

ANDIGITAL LOCK REVIEW

After much hunting we decided to go with Andigital lock as they gave us a good price.

We bought 2 digital locks and one main gate from them.

The experience was excruciating. There was communication breakdown for example A did not communicate to B and C comes to work.:bangwall:I banged my head against the wall and got so mad.

First of all, we informed them to come and measure my main door (the one with the samsung digital lock) and they gave us an appointment.

2 days after the appointment I felt something was wrong..no news from them as I was wondering if they came and measure my door.

View outside of my door before my main wooden door. IMG_20160331_111120_zpstqyl04vb.jpg?t=14

How can they measured the my wooden door without opening this?? Unless they have super powers!

Feeling amissed, I called up this lady Vale, i asked her politely since the appointment was over and if my door measurement had been done. Without hesitation, she replied since appointment was two days ago, it must have been done! Wow..I was kind of err...are u sure? I told her why not you check and get back to me. She sounded impatient and said ok she will call me back.

15minutes later, she called and claimed my wooden door was not up (the workers came before the appointed date, that's y it was not up!) She insisted my main door was not up that was y the workers couldn't measure. But my door was up.. and she claimed the workers took a pic and showed them. So I asked her if the door was not up, they out of courtesy should give me a call and rearrange the appointment. So i asked will the installation of the main gate be delayed due to this, her replied was yes.I was $%^&#@. Then I asked her to show me the picture the workers sent her. she sent me and I know it was definitely before my door installation.maindoor20empty_zpsw8yrajow.jpg?t=145990 her pic to me.

Luckily I got a pic of my door up. I asked when is the next appointment if that was the case. She did not even apologise that it was their fault. Sounded as if my fault that my door was not up. so angry.. She then told me appointment all fully booked. They are very tight! Then she asked, you are not in a hurry to move in right? When is your moving date? I was like

Then I discussed with my other half and he said they have to get us the earliest appointment and fix it. I told Vale, she said will have to wait another week for measurement and one more week for the gate to fabricate.. i was speechless.. I told her we wanted them to honour their promise of the appointment. She said couldnt be done. I was so mad.. she said she will discussed with her manager and get back to me.

When the manager called, his name is Ron, he told me straight it they were unable to deliver the gate as appointed time and date. He then gave me a date and time and asked if I was able to make it. IF yes, take it, if not he will do a full refund and asked which one i preferred. I was totally speechless...

So my other half said, we go ahead and fixed it.

First the digital lock for the main door has to be installed first then followed by the measurement of the main gate followed by installation of the gate and the digital lock. This was what Ron said. So we went ahead and rushed to site when the workers contacted us to open the wooden door outside.

Few days later when it was time for the gate to be installed, they called me up to remind me that the gate workers will come at 9am and the digital lock workers will come @11am. I still have a bad feeling.. On that day itself, I rushed down and reached my house at 1115am, IMG_20160331_111120_zpstqyl04vb.jpg?t=14 this was what I saw..:~ I called the office and the staff did not know what happened and she said she would call me back. I waited for 10mins, no news. I called her again, she claimed the workers were held up somewhere.. I was like held up somewhere for 2 hours +?! then should have a courtesy to call the owner and inform..:bangwall:Then she claimed they already on their way would reach in 30mins.. I could only wait....

Then they came and finally everything was up.. I was too tired and just watch them work..

overall experience was very bad. If given a choice, i would not engage them again.

If anyone wants to use them, make sure u are there all the time and able to supervise. Maybe in my case it was the extreme one.

sorry for the long winded post.

Oh dear!! Sounds like you had a very bad experience with them! *pats* But the final gate and door locks look great! :D We're probably just sticking to old-fashioned key locks lol and our current door doesn't even have a peephole so don't even have peephole camera etc.

As for the swing, maybe check with the people you bought the swing from? Did you ask them whether the swing can be hung from metal bars? The alternative is to get someone to make a big wooden frame and you then put the swing on. Sorry I also can't think of who to approach to do this... Hope the rest of your reno has gone well!

So far the house is progressing well, we met with issues along the way and we try to solve it as it comes. Having this ID really helps alot. HE is one who will help us resolve issues and try his best to solve it well, there are times he is clueless too but he will still give advise if possible and also find out how to solve it. This is something I really like about him. Not many ID i spoke to has this kind of attitude! Kudos to him!

Yes! That's the same feeling I get from Andrew, very dependable, tries his best, always helps to think of solutions even before you spot the problem. I remember when I was touring your place last time he stopped one of the guys and asked whether can reroute the electrical piping to be less obvious after a while.
