OK. After meeting with the Boss, SKY Tan, rectification works start to move faster and on the right direction. Now I getting positive attitude and solution rather than excuses and uncooperative behaviour. He came down personally on Monday to check on the carpenter works and station his new project manager whole day to supervisor the rectification works. After some chit-chat with him, I find him honest, down to earth, friendly and responsible unlike his manager who always broke his promises. Because of his sincerity and positive working attitude of his people, I compromised on certain issues. His project manager is good and very experience. I will post some pictures later to show the difference. If he will to intervene early, the damage might be smaller. This is the area he need to ponder how he can discover all those cases of poor handling by his people.

IDA has required all new homes w.e.f. 1 May 2013 to have Cat 6 cabling to every room. So most likely the contractor simply laid Cat 6 cables to the telephone point. It is probably just a case of changing the face plate. In fact, I believe that since some years back, contractors have already been using network cabling as the telephone cable. It could be Cat 5 or 5e cabling but still fast enough.

Since 1 May 2013, IDA has mandated that all new homes must have pre-laid network points in all rooms. I am not sure but I am sure this policy applies to HDB flats as well. The government is well aware of how important this is.

I bought a Legrand wireless doorbell, for $25. The shopkeeper told me that they supply this LeGrand doorbell to Home Fix who then sells it for $30+. What I like about this doorbell is that the "speaker" can be plugged into a power socket. I will not need to change battery. image by Harriette_Tan, on Flickr

I explained why you should lay data points here: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/topic/62505-top-kew-drive/?p=835953 The other blog you may want to read is Mavicaste' blog. His network layout and installation is more professional than mine. If you have any queries, feel free to ask.

Hi, If yours is new BTO, you could also consider converting all existing telephone points to data points. Don't have to ask your contractor to lay data cables. http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/garage-sales-18/services-fiber-telephone-point-lan-data-ethernet-point-conversion-services-4390951.html

Bought thrice using peeka n very pleased with the service. I gauge the total cost each time by taking the rmb amount n dividing by 3. That would be about the nett amount I pay in sgd.

I have both Nippon and dulux paint on my walls. Nippon for the white and dulux for the colours. Both are the same to me after 6 months. One thing I feel is that the range of dulux colours is better than Nippon in my opinion. That was my experience in choosing greys.

Dont say illegal la, cannot anyhow say illegal one la, like that not goot one. We call this not up to standard, not illegal. Machiam the flooding in Orchard Road, flooding is wrong term, it is "ponding" or "flash flood". Point is how long the flood, not whether got flood no flood, so flood is ok, as long as only a while only.

Hi, Not sure if this comes too late. went to JB two weeks ago to look for lights and bathroom accessories.. For lights, I felt that the selection was not that good unless you are going for basic lighting.. Avalon and VIP lighting had more of the designer range but their prices are higher, almost like SG shops.. For basic lighting, Tampoi Lighting Centre seems fine.. Did not buy anything there but the prices were quite good.. We didnt buy any lights in the end in JB as we felt that the selection in the five shops we went to did not fulfil our criteria.. We ended up buying all our track lights from a supplier in Sg at the same price we found at JB but of better quality.. For bathroom accessories, Aldeco is definitely worth a visit.. We spent RM820 there (about $320) and we got loads of stuffs incl 2 bidet sprays with taps (saw the same bidet spray being sold at a Sg shop yesterday for SGD$59, we bought for RM59), 2 stainless steel cabinets with mirrors (the cheapest we found in Sg was $115 for this), 2 stainless steel towel bars, 5 stainless steel hooks, 1 clothes hook bar (to be placed behind the bedroom door.. this was really heavy.. and cheap RM11.90).. Cant remember what else we got but it was a great shopping experience.. They were having a promotion where if you buy more than RM180 worth of items, you automatically qualify as a member and you will get 32% off your purchases (except for already heavily discounted items.. which were not that many.. most items still qualified for this discount even though they were already discounted).. But think this promotion only until end of March? Sales service at Aldeco was good.. not pushy and they were patient to answer your questions, help you check all your items before repacking and explain how to assemble them.. You dont feel like they are rushing you even though they have to attend to other customers in between.. If you want to see bigger items like basins, toilet cabinets, etc, you may want to go to their branch at Taman Sentosa. The sales staff at Sutera Mall branch informed us that that is their main showroom and has the full range of items on display.. Happy shopping!
