Hi guys any specific Taobao stores to recommend? Please share your links here. I've trouble selecting who to buy from. What volt did you buy for your house? I only know I should purchase 10 for my living room but no idea to get what volt. I saw lots of round shape one, but I prefer the square ones. I searched for LED 筒灯, is my translation correct?

It's called moisture tester. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Moisture-Meter-Detector-building-materials/dp/B0036PSX0K Can give only a rough gauge only. Make sense only using the same device for making various reports. HDB officers use this. Basically an impedance or conductivity tester with fixed distance between 2 probes.

Hi Umaisarah, I bought my resale without going through an agent so there is no need to pay 1% agent fee. Some seller agent will only deal with own buyer agent in order to charge buyer 1% buyer agent fee. Not so ethical but many of them still workaround this method. Hence before viewing, I made clear to the agent that I am DIY-ing but have an agent friend to help me with documentation work so will not be paying any agent fee. Usually seller agent or co-broke agent will agreed because they hope to close case ASAP. Most are charging seller 2% agent fee which in turn is also pass on to buyer in the sales price. I don't really have an agent friend to help me with the documentation actually. It is very easy if you follow the instruction on HDB website. Further, the seller agent will also remind you of important things to do because the seller agent is also afraid if you are unsure causing delay in closing the case.

Hi, I just bought a light broadlink TC1 light switch to try out. When I opened my switch, I see 3 red wires. 2 of them connected together and 1 by itself. I can't tell which wire is Live, load or neutral [Do hdb switch have neutral wire?]. Can anyone kindly guide me on how to connect? Any help would be deeply appreciated. Update: Nevermind, found out which is which and its working now.

Didnt know you "quoted" me till today. Glad that you find the write up useful, simply sharing my "been there, done that." Sometimes it's not the extra saving from buying direct that matters. It is the effort and time you invested in that counts. Taobao : $xxxx, satisfactory : priceless.

IMHO, ultimately choosing an ID depends a lot on the Chemistry. First one needs to feel there's a trust established between the ID and the home owner. For this the home owner needs to do a lot of preparatory work before choosing an ID. Unless your inner mind says YES, don't sign on the dotted line. Secondly, the two way communication which must be open, honest and objective. I say objective, is to get the best possible outcome in a particularly difficult situation; there will be definitely many difficult / technical challenge situations when the reno has commenced. The ID and home owner should work together to handle these situations and arrive at an acceptable situations. Thirdly, I noticed many IDs quote very less in their initial quote. But don't be surprised, as the reno progresses they charge exorbitant rates for any changes or adding-on extra items the owners tend to include as an after thought. As home owners are doing reno only once in many years, it is not possible to think through all the angles and be confident to say - there won't be any changes/alterations/add-ons. So the IDs reasonableness at this juncture cements the bond between homeowner and ID.

By the way, the lights from taobao was installed today and they all work! Maybe because the supplier was based in shanghai and all were hand delivered / via flight, there was no problem with broken parts.

All the craze about the waterproof vinyl flooring,it seems that the floor is not really that waterproof at all.Water is 100% liquid and its not as if the locking joints of a vinyl floor is seamless, what with a 5 mm click joint thickness only.Try splashing a pool of water on it and leave it stagnant for a few long hours, see what happens. Not to mention the toxic emissions from vinyl.Funny how,the exact sales renovation people in general who propose vinyl do not want it in their private spaces, citing the fear of getting cancer one of it.How ironic.

Hope i have replied and cleared all the PM requests. Lastly, i have also uploaded the 1st draft of the 3d drawing. Current Total cost of renovation=14300 (inclusive of electrical works at $600, there was some miscommunication in the electrical works that cause the progress of the renovation to be delayed.) To all bros and sis in the forum, probably need to confirm the electrical works first before signing the contact.

So far tiling of the toilets and kitchen are done. Currently running wires and cables for the house. Electrical needs some planning especially for first time house owner. Numerous issues to consider and this will have a significant impact on the reno budget. Many failed to realize how costly electrical is and fail to cater a realistic budget for it. Number of lighting points - depends if you are doing false ceiling, cove lights. Normally false ceiling will come with down light. One plus point of false ceiling is that it can help to conceal aircon trunkings, wiring etc. Down light are costly, ranging from $20 or more, even more for LEDs. and each down light is consider as a lighting point. So add the cost up - eg. down light cost $30, lighting point $35, installing $10 = $75, imagine if you have 20 of these. Also have not add in the cost of the false ceiling. 13A Power Point - The price difference between one and double power point is a mere $10-$20, so most owners will go for double at a given point. Then it is the cost of a double point that is the killer. Prices ranges from $60 or more per double. So if you place gonna install 15 double point, you know your math. Data Point - Averages from $110 up. Average house need 4 points if doing structure cabling. TV Point - eg. $90 per point, if all rooms need one, mean times 3. Telephone Point - Also in the tens of dollars, can be $50 or more but may not be need in all rooms since most if not all uses HP. Unless fax is needed. Then the rest there are aircon point, 2 way switches, installation of fan, installation of lights, hood & hob point etc subject to needs and want. Some prefer different switches like Clipsal, Legrand, schneider etc and so the price snowball..... Time to bring out the calculator...... Remember, each lighting point is counted as one point. So if you choose a pendant light that needs 3 pcs of it to achieve that aesthetic look means you are paying 3 x lighting point and 3 x light installation. 2 way switches are a must in some houses due to layout. No one wants to off the living room light where the switch is near the main door and only to walk thru the darkness to the bed room. So beware and be prepare.
