  1. Do a search in this forum. Many past discussions.
  2. If it's the grouting, acid wash should clean it. If the tile is discoloured, I doubt anything can be done.
  3. Really? Doesn't power of attorney means that person's signature is as good as yours. Yes, that person may have to go down to HDB personally to sign, but you shouldn't have to-- else it's LPPL right?
  4. What does "reasonable" mean? You can't compare one painting with another and say x is more expensive, so it's not reasonable. If you are buying the same car from two different dealers, then you can say that the dealer who charges you 50% more is unreasonable. But a painting is unique, you can't compare like that.
  5. If you like white, go for it. Just be aware of the potential issues such as cleaning.
  6. In all matters you should follow your own conviction, not the dictates of fashion. If you like cornices, go for it!
  7. No one can forecast the future direction of property prices until they become obvious. In other words, who knows whether you'll make a loss? The only thing that is reasonably certain is that, other factors being equal, a bigger house sells for more than a smaller house.
  8. Rebuild will likely cost a lot more than $400k. Estimate is about $150k per storey. That only gives you a bare shell. The whole interior-- from flooring to electrical work to carpentry to furnishings-- will be extra. From the investment point of view, price depends very much on built-in area, of course you'll be able to sell it for more than a unit of less area. Remember A&A cannot use CPF, but rebuild can use CPF. This will help the servicing of your loan a lot.
  9. What's the worry? The sink is not going to collapse. The only question is whether you like it. That only you and your husband can work out.
  10. Article totally driven by emotion of losing $$$. What has excess flats in Jurong West got to do with pricing elsewhere? He forgot the adage "location, location, location". Lose money-- complain. He forgot that no one forced him to buy a flat. Esp 8-9 years ago, when prices had just come down after the Asian crisis. Don't believe HDB's so-called "subsidy"-- easy. Change the govt through your vote.
  11. You can always negotiate. But it seems your ID doing more than carpentry.
  12. Who in this world can predict the direction of property prices before they become obvious? In my view, only the govt can do it, as they can control the market through their policies.
  13. "As is where is" means you have to take whatever problems comes with the house.
  14. HDB does not have a requirement to sell you a colour coordinated flat. That's why the answer is a flat no.
  15. Classic Kitchens-- High Quality. Professional. Pricey.
  16. Actually I'm surprised no Buddhists were quoted in the article explaining their beliefs about the Buddha tooth, eg that it is much bigger than a human tooth because it has continued to 'grow' after death, for instance.
  17. An impossible to answer question, as it depends so much on individual tastes and extent of work. Perhaps you might get more coherent answers if you phrased your question more specifically.
  18. I think you're sweating yourself unnecessarily over this.
