  1. how big is the cushion u need? we customized our cushions for our sofa set and daybed; foam+covers. doesn't come cheap tho. u can PM me for contact if u wanna try. if u only need a small one, suggest looking around spotlight or something might be most cost effective
  2. hey christy, we have gotten our dining table top glass - 6mm tempered clear glass - dunno whether its considered ex, but for the dimensions, pretty OK i guess. our glass top was 200*90 cm - quoted $150, excluding transportation costs; total was $180 with delivery thrown in. it came last saturday, and is happily sitting on our dining table now have u gotten urs?
  3. hey poseidon gal, saw fm another thread tt ur wash basin base is concrete instead of the normal plywood laminate. mind posting a pic of it? TIA
  4. hey cookiesmonster... we haven't been up to the place all week till today, and it was just to deposit some stuff, so nothing much to share. will update when we have shifted our stuff and settled in over the long weekend... hopefully with our so-called soft furnishings too. and nope, rectifications have not been done. will be happening this sat. but dave promised to send the door guy to touch up the wrought iron gate which was peeling. we dun have to be ard cos its just painting the main gate fm the outside. checked just now, still nothing done. he is also supposed to get back to us on some carpentry stuff we asked him to check, but nothing heard. now we wonder... is this the after-sales service to be expected? should we call him? or see if he will do it? so still waiting...Waiting...WAITING...................... how about ur reno progress? better now?
  5. myth - condition of the flat (flooring, walls, etc), which floor its located on, location (whether near ammenities/mrt), facing of the flat and previous resale prices around the area give the flat its valuation
  6. thanks for the compliments well.... guess s/s ones should be better - the plumbers actually proposed PVC as a more lasting pipe, cos not so prone to corrosion as chrome. but the wife din like the PVC thing, so die die went to source for s/s piping. but actually, dunno how hardy the chrome bottle traps and pipes are agst corrosion, esp if you plan to use those drain cleaners in case of clogged pipes. if poss, try to get the more heavy-duty ones. the bottle trap we got was of thicker material, so as the s/s piping. but cos the s/s piping cannot be cut, unlike chrome, there is still PVC joining @ the bottom... tt is the sad part
  7. yup we got 138 movers - seems they have pretty good reviews. but we only need to move big n bulky items like our bed frame and huge mattress fm our current places. only 1 yr old, so buy new ones abit wasted. rest of the stuff like clothes and what not, prob moving slowly. this weekend is hari raya, alot of movers aren't available already... have u got urs?
  8. normal neighbourhood hardware shops and homefix dun sell - we had to get ours fm sim siang choon - got a stainless steel one. asia excel/hoe kee sells the chrome ones
  9. just logged into hdb portal to check on the reno permits submitted - hacking of walls, replacement of wall tiles, replacement of window panes/grilles, and toilet windows have to have permits submitted there were none for the hollow block walls we built due to changed entrances of our toilets and one room - probably because they were not "additional" walls built in the house.
  10. hi dyleen, we'll be doing a xie tu before the official move in... shouldn't be a problem moving ur stuff in before the rites... i guess its just an official thing to tell the earth deity tt reno is officially over. anyway for us, we will still have rectifications done this weekend b4 our xie tu ceremony, so technically, reno works still gg on this sat.
  11. hi new, did u manage to spray the electrical box behind the switches too? those which contain all the wires, cos older flats can't do concealed wiring. we aren't thinking of spray-painting... would be nice, but abit lazy for that. but the wife dun like the fm/tv switch which the electrician gave. find it an eyesore next to the pretty legrand ones. legrand has those fm/tc switches too. any idea whether we can buy the switch and change, even with that ugly boxing @ the back?
  12. thanks! we purposely left out the drawing of the living room tho... cos its totally wrong, from the furniture to the colour scheme didn't manage to get the correctd 3D for tt despite chasing the ID, so gave up halfway... anyway house is completed, no need for 3D of that now.
  13. must be happy seems many pp r waiting for the 7th month to be over, then move to new places. bonus is tt its gonna be a long weekend. we'll be targetting to move over this long weekend too. but no time to go up to the place these few days cos of work gonna be a mad rush to clean and shift our things over towards the end of the week man
  14. hey AJ, just make sure they r licensed to install HDB grilles - we enquired from one coy previously when we were sourcing for grilles, but they weren't licensed to install grilles and windows for HDB flats. seems like HDB grilles are rather limited, tt why all we see r those aluminium ones but if the invisible grilles can be done on HDB, seems like a good deal
  15. agree that its a matter of integrity that the ex-owners pass the full set of keys to you; but if u think about it, you wun really need that set of keys actually... except the letter box one for the time being. once ur reno starts, its usually replaced by a number lock so workers can access it easily; most of the time, we also change all the locks on the doors and grilles, if not all the doors and grilles themselves wouldn't want to reuse the old keys, who knows if many duplicate sets had been made prior to that? just my 2 cents worth
  16. haha, thanks for that tip; we shall buy a small can from homefix; see whether the hubby or the wife wanna try painting... and be accused of dripping paint on the floor if any spills, kek.
  17. rasp, ur marble polishing looks really good its really great that ur contractor took the trouble to plan the schedule well and take proper care of the areas which are not due for polishing yet.
  18. we shall do the same but question fm us... how did u manage to paint the bottom? did ur contractor do it for u?
  19. very tastefully done up... ur mbr looks super comfy. i saw ur cats too.. they r cute, and HUGE!
  20. it all depends on one's preferences. if u look thru most of the t-blogs and interior magazines, lots of pp have the plywood and laminate vanity cabinet which is suspended. for us, we're afraid that the plywood would warp over time when in contact with water; so chose to have it built in cement and tiled finishing
  21. hi andy, there was a previous discussion on this on page 3 of this thread - post below: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?s=...st&p=394979
  22. pinky, we did go to one place around changi/eunos area which sells marble/granite tables. can't remember the name off-hand, but they do advertise in the papers fm time to time. the shop's name is "poly-xxxx" can't remember the exact name. prob u could try to search on it? they have quite a wide selection, and are able to do custom ones too.
  23. 3-D pics... now that reno has finally drawn to a close (pending remaining rectifications), we can finally post our 3D pics which we had gotten before reno started. after we have cleaned the place, moved in, settled down and have all the outstanding stuff settled, will post pics of the completed place... we'll then see if the 3Ds and the real McCoy match up presenting our ID's impression of our resort-themed hut... foyer feature wall panelling kitchen wardrobe display cabinet
