  1. er....as far as I know, postform and membrane are totally 2 different things u know? Postform is "glued" but membrane is "compressed" through a machine in the factory with high temperature one, and it's much more expensive than anything else.....
  2. it's the material....LA is meant for 4 seasons which we dun really need here. in the end we went to a shop in delphi Orchard, recommended by our beautician. She gave us a very solid price, Acasia(not sure if it's the same spelling) has similar fabric (but of course not as good as Laura Ashley in terms of quality) design and guess what? $20/m only..... In the end we spend less than $2.5K for the whole house, inclusive of 4 string curtains (double up each for 2 toilets). There are some other additional thing from the original quote of $1.8K. Currently only the master bedroom and the toilets are done with the curtains hehe.....waiting for them to complete the rest. Will take some photo to share later.
  3. Until LED backlight LCD is out commercially at affordable price, Plasma should be the way to go. But it comes with a price: 1.higher electricity consumption, about 20-30% higher compared to same size LCD. That should be a few dollars extra per month. (can be $1 or $10 extra, depending on your usage pattern) 2.Potential burnt-in issue (which is resolved for recent models, be it manual or auto) If you're watching a lot of non-HD aka SD stuff, eg, mediacorp and SCV channels, Plasma's PQ is way better than LCD, but dun get those full HD version. Full HD will make all your SD channels blur due to the extensive upscaling. LCD was meant for computer monitor, therefore, pixel count and mapping is important. The moment you dun get 1:1 mapping, the image is very blur. Eyes would prefer Plasma. 8hr non-stop viewing LCD in the office liao, you still want to strain your eyes further by watching LCD ??
  4. I'm fine! I just recalled the last time we met was at Traders' hotel's wedding show last year!! Shall catch up sometime man! My new house is just done and I have been staying here for 1 month+ still very empty.....customary next year Oct........still a long way to go man!
  5. actually wanna ask you guys a few practical questions: 1.How often do you use your HT? watching movie? concert ? gaming ? Karaoke or other entertainments? 2.Do you really use the rear speakers often? 3.Do you find your rear speakers useful? 4.How do you connect your rear speakers to the receiver? I noticed a lot of people simply put their rear speakers at the front, as a results, they become redundant....that makes me think again, shall I just go for a stereo set up? or at most, a cool 2.1 set up?
  6. i got additional discounts coz i bought the sharp washer together mah, so I told him if he can't get me a good price, I have no choice but to buy the fridge separately lor. but u know what? in the end they still did 2 delivery, coz the Panasonic fridge delayed....lol
  7. haha, i think you guys thought the part that's facing you is the front. Nope, it's the backside of the membrane door. Postform is using laminate, not membrane. And membrane has no ABS trimming coz ABS trimming came out to compete with membrane one hehe.... take a closer look at the right hand side, those glossy shiny ones are the front part of the membrane doors.
  8. do a search in yellowpages singapore anyway, there is no single mosquitoes found in my place lol! I's wondering are those rumors real..... turning on the power saving mode all the time.
  9. I think less than 3 months....one of the doors like this. Is it due to the factory sealing processing ah? waiting for my contractor's reply now.......d@mn sianz.......luckily only 1 of the doors like that. picture taken via my U600 in fluorescent mode
  10. an optical switch lor. got cheap cheap one also got ex ex one.... try this forum http://www.xtremeplace.com/yabbse/index.php this renotalk can't get much hardcore people in audio/video one lah.
  11. you want me to loan you my power meter to measure it? hehe....... my panasonic inverter is taking around $9/month
  12. as long as not giving further problems can liao lah. TV needs burn in one, it's better to get a properly burn in set instead of brand new set which is yet another question mark.... skip korean TV skip skip skip!!!
  13. there were no reply from that gals forum lol! you need that hole to get the water evaporate, otherwise, you need a tube like the washing machine to lead the water somewhere So far the fridge is quite OK. If you turn on the inverter mode, you can probably save around $2 per month in electricity, if my power meter do not fail me. will post more details in the power consumption. Average is around 80-90Watt. Full quick freezing mode can hit 140Watt easily.
  14. virtual surround speakers is actually a more practical solution. Most of the time, I see people placing their rear speakers at the front, coz of the messy wires. so, what's the point? wireless speakers are still weak...... it's not just about side walls, you also need to make your room to reflect the sound properly and all these could cost more than your virtual surround speakers liao..... stick to 2.1 or stereo lah, are you sure you really need that "surround"? anyway, Philips seems to be slightly different from Yamaha and Denon, if what they claimed is correct, you do not need any wall to get it work swee swee (coz they know you can hardly have a proper side walls lol): *I think Pioneer and Sony is also taking this approach too....
  15. What's the normal type cost? $10 psf is OK, coz the area we wanted to do is very small. Most probably less than $200 can settle liao Do they have a variety of color to choose? we need green color hehe... some curtain shops recommending VKool and 3M....
  16. due to fengshui purpose, we need to get solar film for the bottom part of our full length window. Any of you did b4? how long can it last before peeling off??
  17. HDMI is meant for combined Video and Sound lah. Component has no problem supporting up to 1080p, provided you get a good quality one. thinking of selling mine, coz I seldom use it
  18. the longest staying job I had was 2 years. shortest was 2 weeks and they wanted me to stay lol!
  19. at the first place, you shall not get LCD too....lousy picture quality....especially for SD stuff..... Samsung Plasma is a nono too, burnt mark easily formed....stilll....
  20. actually besides a suitable venue (depending on your number of guests, the kind of set up, the kind of serving method etc), you still need a very good wedding planner/coordinator to help plan out the whole thing. You can have the best venue, but if you lack of a good planner, it could turn out to be a disaster....
  21. I went down to Gaincity AMK but there is no Daewoo leh....anyway, their price sux big time. the dunno what manager came out and told me a long list of bullsh*t about price matching blah blah blah, he could just tell me, "sorry, we do not match price". Waste of my time actually. Even the sales doing demo on the TV also got limited knowledge.....I think the uncles in HongLiang are much knowledgeable than them....kns lah, GainCity is just trying to "ACT" highclass only...... Just paid full to HongLiang yesterday for the B420V ($860) but I bought the Sharp washer for $460 lah, they actually matched the price and offer a further discounts As it's very near to my place, they even offered to deliver immediately lol! imagine it's already 7pm+....
  22. 5 years warranty is insurance, not warranty, by the shop only. No point.
  23. called GAB b4, price is soso only, they requires more than 1 day to deliver too, location wise also very jialat to me, far from Redhill leh. HongLiang doesn't need to pay upfront, everjoint need but also 1 day notice can liao. Will try to give a call to the rest you mentioned, if I have time later haha....thanks for all the contacts! I believe we also benefit the rest too.
  24. without electricity, how do you drive the "shooter"?
  25. Went Audio House yesterday, they can't even match the price, not to mention giving a better price. I think they are not pro-sharp and pro-panasonic reseller, guess I have to get from either Everjoint or HongLiang. My father-in-law said Everjoint does a lot of installment businesses for the Malays, with very high interest..... may want to pay GainCity at AMK a visit before I confirm the order, if I have the time....
