Welcome to RT and to the north east side. I was also pretty kiasu and started reno research in Dec. so u still alright.
-
yeah, more or less but likely lilth will finish first bah Zelly, nice leds. so these are the ones which u buy from sim lim or china direct?
-
from my knowledge, it should be cabinets up first then backing too. Yeah, agree that sillicon will be in place to prevent seepage and of course we still have to do regular maintenance like cleaning after cooking etc.
-
so in the end u will also finish before mine? *sob*
-
nope it does not. we do not need the bedframe since we have exisiting ones.
-
yeah, choosing my paints early cos I'm not into the daring colours like u. I was also given to 5 + 1 (not inclusive of door frame and pipping). I am choosing all pretty neutral colours cos we prefer cosy feeling. most daring colour is the one choosen for my son and it's also pretty light yellow. haha... ok for us cos we are matching with my selected tiles samples. not the most accurate but good enough. am given both dulux and nippon but seems like dulux have more selection... at first not changing....this shows how LONG u nv come in. my hubby was sucked by the pretty glossy tiles we saw when we went to select the tiles for kitchen and bathroom. in the end, he decided to change the tiles for living and 3 BR. We will still continue with the pebblewash for the cracked area to prevent sim tia and to make the crack not so obvious shd it recrack again.
-
El Gor, ur paints are all Dulux? i'm choosing my paints now. having a blasting headache on it.
-
u shd check with ossify. He uses ikea kitchen cabinet. in fact his whole house basically ikea. u can find his T-blog and I think he is a better person to advise u.

Thanks all for the concern. Already back in the office working.....2 days MC only. Fencer: yup, was resting and watching movies the 1.5 days I was home. Edmund so far is great in helping to expedite on the case and so far i can say I have confidence in him. He goes thru every little details with us and has requested for me to give him a list on the items (e.g. paints , laminates etc choosen) that we have confirmed. That I'm willing to do up so as to protect the interest of both sides and minimize disputes. El: yeah, i not even start reno already contracted that.... :bleh: So far full trust in Edmund though I make sure I follow thru items with him as well. Coldflamez: I'm also sure what he said includes buffer. but what worries me is sometimes unforseen circumstances do occur which will delay the reno and I dread that cos things are tight and I still hv to arrange delivery of my electrical appliances and furniture.

El Gor, u finally back! also not able to apply permit now, only after completion then can mah, Edmund already got our particulars so once we complete the process, he will immediately online to apply Agree, Ang Gor better put up pics or we will hunt down his house and gate crash...wahahahahah!

I'm also doing white tempered glass backing. I think it shd be ok with the staining issue.

thanks for the concern all~! sianz is because partly we have agreed to loan a rm to our friend who needs to shift out of his house end July and previously we estimated enough time to reno... partly is due to seller giving us empty promises and making us having hope. also sianz and worried cos 4 August is 1 week before 7th month. if any delay means i can only move in after 7th month wor!!!! not so worried abt the things cos my contractor is helping to expedite works by going thru everything with us and confirming all designs and colours etc before start reno so tat once start is full steam ahead. he aso sianz that the seller fly our kite...

was mia for a couple of days due to going to A&E for suspected apendicitis. sianz...now at home resting. Discussed with Edmund on some of the tiles and laminates for the house and confirmed with seller they wun be giving us the keys earlier liao. sianz.... Edmund estimate the house would need 8 weeks to reno and reno can only start 4 june if we apply permit on 31 May. sianz.... Estimated reno handover is 4 August.....sianz to max.
-
sure if u can wait, most likely be moving in July.

my buying agent also has a clause stating pay at first appt which we agree initially but after seeing some comments here earlier this year, I called him up and told him I will only pay second appt. We ding dong here and there and final decision to protect both parties is to pay half at first appt and half second appt. terms is like that lah, but can talk to the agent one. unless agent dun want to cooperate. btw, why negative sales? housing market has already picked up so I dun c the reason why u need to sell at a loss in the first place??!!

GG = Gor Gor = wcseow Hommage (furniture)= 25/25A Tai Thong Crescent (behind old Jacksons FC) Fullhouse Furnishing (furniture) = Aljunied Crescent (above NTUC), Serangoon (not sure full address) Mega Discount Store (electrical appliances) = Kallang Leisurepark & United Square So far I find the electrical appliances offered by Mega Discount is pretty reasonable. U can bargain the price but you have got to do your homework before you go down. make calls to the usual shops like Everjoint etc and then you know your price range and gives you more room to bargain. Unlike Everjoint, Mega Discount showcase all the electricals so you can see your stuff before you buy. Hommage is doing catalogue sales for furniture like S&C. So if u are comfortable to do that then you visit them, if not, you are better off visiting Star furniture or Ceillini etc. Service is good but be aware that Eric the boss is the only one doing sales there so on weekends is freaking packed. you have to be prepared to wait for him to serve you. Fullhouse Furnishing claims that they are one of the largest furniture supplier in Malaysia, not so sure since I dun go into malaysia. Happen to go to Aljunied Crescent and went to look look see see. furniture wise, nothing caught my eye. I only ordered a queen size and a single size mattress from them but the sales guy was pretty helpful and friendly. GG visited them too but suay suay met a crabby guy. U can take a look but so far no review about them.

hubby wanted to do the up down system for me so that it is easier to lift the washing up and down esp. when preggie. actually I'm not so worried abt the going out cos ours is the new type which has support for the bamboo for both sides so we dun have to use extra strength to lift and put the bamboo into the holders. He wanted the push out system but from the look of my place, likely not that we have space to do the push out ones. hubby helps out when he can but there are times when he is not around so he wants life to be easier for me.

yeah, agree. Service/price is attractive at GR Link that's why we are willing to spend there. In fact, I myself was shocked at the amount we spend on sanitary & kitchen wares! But it was console by the fact that we did get better materials (stainless steel etc) and therefore the price. For now, we placed order early cos we want to be ready in case my seller says ok for takeover to do reno and my contractor will go full steam ahead so if we are not ready then we might slow down the reno. We need to get the house ready by mid July latest as we have agreed to loan a room to a friend who is also buying and reno-ing his house after ours and he needed a place during the transition period. That's why my contractor kan chiong and keep asking when we can start reno!
-
seems like all of u starting and ending reno so fast...so good....me still hanging there. But my contractor is asking me to make all the necessary decision on the tiles, carpentry etc now so that once start, it's full steam ahead! I just can't wait for it to start but seems like my seller is determined to move out only at the eleventh hour. hubby is worried would they suddenly ask for extension.....

I am currently staying at my MIL place. Have been doing so for 4 years. my old place was rented out for abt 2.5 yrs and it's recently we decided place was a bit cramp and so we chase the tenants out, sold the old place and bought the new place to hv a place of our own but very very near my MIL place for her to take care of my son easier. Ya, delivery has to be coordinate closely with the companies and my contractor so that we wun hv clashes. right now, we buy things with open date lor. GR Link, Hommage, Mega Discount and Fullhouse all like tat. In fact most shops do that, just dun pay in full to reduce the risk involved. haha...ya can online. but still working lah, jus checking once in a while. BTW, the hob ah, I bought stainless steel ones though I had like the tempered glass ones... reason being (as explained by Mega discount sales) stainless steel is more hardy than tempered glass and I can put hot pots on top of the top which tempered glass is not so advisable to....hubby feels safer with S/S too and ever since the story by GG, he even more support S/S so I gave in.
