CHOOSING ID I have met up and spoken to 8 IDs/contractors. My initial choice was my friend that i personally know. his design and concept is really good, more than what i can think of. But when i saw the pricing, i was shocked!! my budget was only $40k for a 4-room resale flat. The condition of the flat is not terrible, actually the living and bedrooms are fantastic. My friends cannot believe that i wanted to redo them.. hehehehe.... So imaging my shock when i saw the pricing that was nealy $65k. After reducing is still around the range of $60k. That prompted me to go look for other IDs/contractors. Finally, after a month of looking and getting quotations and discussions, i have settled on the firm that will do my renovation. Will not reveal them now until everything is done. Too many eyes in Renotalk.

depends whether yours is 1st loan or 2nd loan. If loan from hdb, no difference, only loan from financial institution.

Just saw your other post regarding to what you wanted to do for <$35k. I am doing less than you as in i am not doing study table and only 1 TV feature wall instead of 2 and my quote is roughly $45k incl electrical. What is your final quote from your ID?

i know of a friend that wasn't successful as well. So she also waited till she is 35 years old. I don't know anyone successful in this type of case where parents have HDB.

yes, i have the same problem as you. mine also old resale unit that's why i didn't want storage heater in the first place. and worse still, i do not want vanity counter too. so where can i put it? i have no idea.... but imagine, having rain shower when you want too.... hhhmmm......

I went to see my friend's place that reno done early last year. The ventilation fan doesn't help much at all. So I think I will rather get a dehumidifier to be used in WIW. That is my main worry. Ladder is a must for all type of things.
